Truth held hostage in Pierce County: Day 29

A Pierce County voter e-mailed me this (redacted) screen shot of the transaction log for his voter registration record, proving beyond any doubt that Pierce County maintains the voter transaction log that I requested nearly a month ago. Accordingly, Auditor Pat McCarthy is not in compliance with the Public Disclosure Act when she claims (here and here) that she cannot produce a transaction log. "Pierce County has no public records responsive to this request", yuh right. An expert on the DIMS system informs me that

anyone with Excel or Access in her office and an ODBC connection can directly access the tables.
It really is that easy.

Every Pierce County voter and every candidate who will be on the ballot in Pierce County should be extremely concerned about McCarthy's conduct in this matter. One can only wonder what she's trying to hide. The Pierce County Council should also be concerned that McCarthy's violations of the Public Disclosure Act are putting the county at risk for needless and expensive litigation. This matter can be put to rest very easily. All I'm asking for are the transaction log records which obviously exist and which the law demands be produced for public inspection.

2. That's not stupid. It's turpitude, and deliberate. They're hiding something.

3. Hank, it IS stupid. It is stupid because she actually behaves as if no one is watching. You are correct, though, in assessing her actions.

5. Democrats are above the law. Just look at the behavior of Logan and how long it took him to produce the logs.

Auditors like McCarthy and Logan will cite all kinds of defensive reasons. But the bottom line is that they don't agree with what Stefan is doing. And they feel that is all the justification they need to deny him the PD requests.

How dare a private citizen question the ministry of elections.

6. It will be an uphill fight. I think you can expect the usual things you've seen so far. Denials, doubletalk, delays, playing dumb, obfuscation, and when that fails they'll circle the wagons and you'll be fighting city attorneys, council members, and probably even that ridiculous mayor (ever watch the cartoon 'The Power Puff Girls'? that's our mayor).

Don't forget, Stephen, you're from Seattle. In Tacoma speak that's worse than an outsider. You're not only a political rival, you're a geographic rival as well. You might want to enlist the help of a local. It makes a big difference.

7. Keep the pressure on Stefan. They are their own worst enemies.

Many kudos.
