March Strategic Visions Poll: Gregoire still unpopular

The March Strategic Vision Poll of Washington voters is out

The poll found that 39% of respondents approved of [Mrs.] Gregoire’s1 job performance; 52% disapproved; and 9% were undecided. The poll found that 42% approved of the job performance of the State Legislature; 47% disapproved; and 11% were undecided.

“[Mrs.] Gregoire improved her standing slightly from last month but continues to register some of the lowest approval ratings of any Governor [sic],” said David E. Johnson, CEO and Co-founder of Strategic Vision, LLC. “Voters also are not happy with how the State Legislature is performing.”
...
In a hypothetical 2008 match-up between Gregoire and 2004 opponent, Dino Rossi, the poll found that 51% said they would vote for Rossi; 38% said they would vote for Gregoire; and 11% were undecided.

1 Her news release today says:

Governor Chris Gregoire today signed into law the state’s supplemental budget, fulfilling her promise to put aside money to pay for future needs. The budget saves over $940 million
But as we already know, those so-called "savings" are a hoax.

1. I wonder what the public would've liked to see differently coming out of the legislature? Any ideas? I know what I would like to see, but don't know if it matches the plurality who disapproves.

In 2008, there will be a third vote in this house for Dino. wa-hoo! Go, Dino!!

2. Hard to believe that 56% favor immediate troop withdrawl. It shows that the 'insurgency' and the MSM are having an effect on people. I wonder if these people think about what would happen if we cut and run right now. Iran becomes a dominant power in the region, another tyrant like Saddam could take power, even more sectarian violence leading to a real civil war (not the one created by the media).

3. I love their twisted logic:
"Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown, D-Spokane, said Republicans would have ended up spending about as much money as the Democrats if they had controlled the Legislature, possibly through tax cuts".
Other than the opportunity costs associated with tax cuts, tax cuts reduce spending, they don't increase spending. How can you spend what you don't collect?

4. How can you spend what you don't collect? Don't worry, the D's are good at it, the best!

5. I said almost the exact same thing about that quote on the original blog entry for that article. Gregoire has a similar quote to that as well. Republicans should use it in their campaign literature.

6. Isn't that just a perfect example of Democrat thinking: tax cuts are spending. Wrong, Lisa! That's only true if you think it's the state's money to begin with. It's not -- it's MY money.

Posted by: Allen McPheeters on March 31, 2006 01:17 PM
7. I think Lisa Brown's comments really some up the socialist viewpoint.

If the State takes my money via taxes and decides how to spend it that is a good thing to to socialist.

If I keep my money then I get to decide how I want to spend it that's a bad thing.

8. GWB approval is around 39%, the antique media finds a way to work it into the daily news.

Queen G? you'd never know here ratings were in the tank.

Biased media. Nah!

9. Interesting that you can only cite to a Republican Poll that had only 17% independent responding (in a state that is about 40% independent). Let’s look at a slightly less biased poll:

Survey USA:

3/17/06
Governor Gregoire

Approve 47%
Disapprove 46%
Undecided 6%

Of course, even Strategic Vision has to admit that Governor Gregoire continues to improve in their poll, and Rossi continues to slide.

Trivia time:

Q: How often is President Bush mentioned at the Mike McGavick web site?
A: 0

12. JDB?

Are you trying to make a point here?.....Or just stuttering?

Posted by: Deborah on March 31, 2006 05:25 PM
13. Well Duh. She's not a likeable person. Ask anyone who's ever crossed her path. I happen to know a person who spends a lot of time around her. This person says that Gregoire will say one thing when the cameras are on or there's someone in the room to whom she must pander. But as soon as she's back to her desk, she's got a completely different demeanor.

You can see it in the way her attempts to appear friendly and likeable are forced. She's not fit for a job which requires a gregarious personality. Most of the time we hear nothing from her as she hides out in her office, and then occasionally there's the very showy decree, usually timed for political reasons.

The term Queen Christine is very apropos. Fortunately, she's only going to be a one term Queen.

14. Deborah,

JDB gets excited when he thinks he's making a point and he's typing with one hand.

15. I'm surprised her numbers are that high. Where I live, her numbers would be about 5%. The liberal Democrats that I know think Hillary is the real deal and they have no idea who or from what party our governor represents. Honestly, they seem to get their political views from People magazine. It's hard to debate idiocy.

16. If our state's economy keeps tracking the way it has I predict Ms. Gregoire to be unbeatable in our next (credible or otherwise) election.

You people seem to be lacking in ideas other than "conservative good - liberal bad."

That doesn't seem to fly today in SayWA, and it certainly still won't in November.

There's no leadership and no vision here.....

17. USA poll:

87% say Gregiore is a good governor.

93% say Democrats are fiscally responsible.

96% say Bush is the devil.

That does it!! JDB is right. No more argument here!!

20. LoadedwithSpeed,

Slow down there bubbalouie.

"conservative good - liberal bad."

What exactly, "doesn't seem to fly today in SayWA" there meth???

Hey speedy, try actually making SOME sense and having a point next time . . . you know . . . just for fun.

And thanks for clearly exhibiting the liberal mindset of "leadership and vision....." you represent.

Is there any real question why I am so amused with liberals like you?

Ask JDB, maybe he'll quote you one of his polls.

You guys can gang up on me with your awesome liberal substance and rapier-like wit.

21. Noone knows Hillary's positions on anything significant. She is so controlling and knows that she is polarizing (51% of voters would never vote for her under any circumstance in a recent survey) she seldom allows interviews without having her list of questions they need to ask her - they have to lob softballs or she won't answer - and she switches her positions depending on which way the wind blows - Bill is her campaign manager.

Gregoire is sure becoming more popular, she's even a few points higher than the president - isn't that special ? McGavick appears to be gaining on Cantwell - which could shape up as a tight race.

Face it, we have such pathetic representation from both parties nowdays - there could be an all-time low of LEGAL voters. The lobbyists control the politicians - how do we get that to lessen ? Term limits ? Don't know - that might help.

22. Way to go Christine.

Setting the table for 12 years of a moderate GOP governor.

Just make sure you get MO to hit $80/share sometime during your reign.

23. I think the most amusing thing is watching biteme/JDB/degenerate stuck in the unenviable position of having to defend a POS like Fraudoire.

Does it make you all warm & squishy moron?

24. Isn't that the same percentages as when Gregoire won; but before county election officials editing?
