Truth held hostage in Pierce County: Day 28

I just e-mailed this letter to Pierce County Auditor Pat McCarthy regarding the transaction logs she's withholding from public disclosure. [Previous correspondence on this records request here, here, here and here]

Everybody who votes in Pierce County and/or is on the ballot in Pierce County should be interested in having these documents released. If any campaign organizers or members of the Pierce County Council are reading this, feel free to contact me for details.

BTW, McCarthy is up for re-election this year and already has $20,000 in her campaign fund. As far as I can tell, nobody's filed to run against her. Yet.

1. I may have had my eyes dialated today but it seems to me that half of McCarthy's donations are from herself. After looking a little closer it looks like those donations were added twice. Am I wrong here?

2. It does appear that the seven donations from 05/29/05 to 09/07/05 are entered twice. Probably a mistake, this is not what I know as double entry bookkeeping! Perhaps the $5000 that Ms. McCarthy donated to her own campaign was left over from a previous campaign? Anyone?

4. Thank you Shark, if you remember I sent you an e-mail on this ongoing problem in Piercr County. Those of you who think its bad in King County, go to Ladenburg Land and see how real A$$HOLES work!!!

I will forward this along to Dick Muri.

5. Yeah, it's bad down here. I'd like to see someone young and conservative step up and run against McCarthy. Someone in the North End of Tacoma, with a good family and integrity. It would be pretty easy to connect McCarthy to Dean Logan and all of the mistakes in King County from a campaigning standpoint. Especially when she continues to refuse public disclosure requests.

8. Yup, that's our P.C. Auditor. And it's worse than it appears at first glance. Almost ALL of the contributions are double entries, exact matches on dates and amounts. I wonder if that's how she counts votes, too?

9. I really like your letter to the auditor, which basically asks her staff to prove the tables do not exist by looking for them. Do they not know how to run SQL queries or even how the the schema was designed? Or do they not want to reveal what's in the tables and field?

10. In line with Van's post, it appears that in their response to you (as evidenced by: McCarthy Response) they are claiming ignorance of capability (incompetence). If they "...don't have the capability...", but the process is readily identifiable to anyone who works with databases, aren't they admitting that they do not know what they are doing?!

Have you offered to extract the transaction logs for them?

Can you imagine the banter that goes on around their watercooler?!
