Dwight Pelz and cousin marriage
Back in 1995, when Washington state Democratic Party Chairman "Cuba" Dwight Pelz was a state Senator, he introduced this bill to allow first cousins to marry.
According to cousin-marriage advocates "CousinCouple.com"
Everyone reading this have [sic] first-cousins in their family tree.
Maybe so. It was common in other cultures and at other times. But most Americans in this day and age consider the practice taboo. What was Pelz thinking that he made this bill a legislative priority? One has to wonder what other obsolete marital practices he intends to revive next,
polygamy?

1. Only way to perpetuate the democrat species.
Inbreeding.
2. Why are there only references to polygamy? What's this inequality stuff? Aren't there any enterprising femmes who'd be up for brisk bouts of polyandry? They'll be after Mr. Pelz waving copies of the 14th amendment in one hand and pre-nups in the other.
3. Everyone reading this have first-cousins in their family tree.
Certainly the person writing it do.
4. Perhaps KDewey KPelz was making an effort to legitimize HIS birth?
Has anyone seen the KPelz Family Tree??
Does he have any Appalachian roots???
Komrade KPelz looks a bit strange....especially when you see his LEFT Profile! Could very well be inbreeding in his immediate background.
That would certainly explain his love of Castro.
5. Pelz was thinking like he normally thinks - he's an illiberal - with a mental disorder. He wants to emulate socialist and communist countries. The SOB not only worked to corrupt Records & Elections for votes with the canvassing board sham - which anything but objective. Any surprise that he wanted and may still desire to corrupt the gene pool for future voters.
6. Inbreeding, for Peltz that was so visionary and progressive back in 1995! I’d predict after the WSSC deems the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional, this type of Marriage will immediately follow gay marriage if not it’ll all be wrapped right up in the same Legislation! All to protect individuals rights, what a sham!
There are plenty of those liberals sitting up on the hill who’ve got first cousins on their minds. This is a no brainer to them. Disgusting if nothing else.
7. steve---
So what?????
I wonder who fed you this little tidbit.
The LEFTIST PINHEADS love to make something out of nothing. They think if they yell something loud enough, it somehow becomes a big issue.
For Example---
THE HOUSE IS WHITE!!!!!!!!!!
So Steve, is your point that how a couple structure their PERSONAL finances is more important than Dwight Pelz marrying his cousin????
8. Is it true that Dwight Pelz is married to his cousin????
G-r-o-s-s!!
9. Stefan,
I hope you look up "Steve" by IP address, track him down and post his info. If nothing else, you'll have the address of where to send the police if there is any vandalism or other Moonbattery at your residence.
As for Dwight Pelz, I'm sure he's envious of Woody Allen.
10. Peltz had to be doing a favor for Phil Condit who I recall his 2nd wife was his first cousin.
11. Take a look at the current version of RCW 26.04.020.
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=26.04.020
If the Washington Supreme Court strikes down the ban on same-sex marriage that is provided for in RCW 26.04.020(1)(c), then it will be legal for a man to marry his son or nephew, or for a woman to marry her daughter or niece.
That is because the list of prohibited marriages in RCW 26.04.020(2) to prohibit men from marrying male relatives or women from marrying female relatives.
Also, under current law, a man can marry his great-granddaughter and a woman can marry her great-grandson. Probably nobody ever thought about that loophole having much practical effect.
12. great--Seattle, home of biotech, now tinkering again with the gene pool; liberal freedoms coupled with yet another genetic curse; and all self-inflicted; meanwhile, pressing city needs languish; ports and city not protected from malcontents; taxes abound for silly programs; is this a play or reality? pinch me--no--not YOU, cuz !!!!!
13. This "Defense of Marriage Act" provision in RCW 26.04.020(3) is interesting. A marriage made in another jurisdiction (i.e. another state or foreign country) is not valid in Washington if it would have been illegal to enter into in Washington.
Marriage between an uncle and a niece, or between first cousins, is recognized as valid under Islamic and Jewish law, and is quite common in Islamic countries. In addition, there are a number of states in this country where marriage between first cousins is legal.
I am willing to bet that there are a fair number of Muslim immigrant first cousin couples in this state who don't realize that Washington law doesn't recognize their marriages.
14. My, the shallow depths of the [u]SP well never cease to amaze.
Thousands are dead in Iraq. SCORES of THOUSANDS are wounded or disfigured.
And this is the critical issue upon which your brilliant intellects choose to shine your analytical spotlight?
Have you ever heard the term "two hands and a spotlight"?
Check with Paul Wolfowitz on that and get back to us.

16. "bartelby":
Have you ever heard the term "two hands and a spotlight"?
Um, yeah. It's used by the people who dismiss the first stage in the liberation of large parts of the Middle East as "Thousands are dead in Iraq". The same folks would have whined "Thousands are dead in Gettysburg" or "Thousands are dead on the Normandy beaches"
17. Heck this bunch would let you marry your dog if they thought it would boost their tax and voter registration base!
The only difference there is your wife or husband would also then have to purchase a $25 dog License, and of course if they were any larger then fifi they would have to be additionally licensed within King County and potential quarantined inside king county if they were too large a dog.
The one good side is your dog would now be entitled to state paid retirement and medical plans.
And I am sure if the Democraps remain in power for another session we could get Doggie Access buses funded to stop by and pick up the doggie spouses every day for a walk on the rail trails!
18. Oh, many, many years ago
When I was twenty-three
I was married to a widow
Who was pretty as can be
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Who had hair of red
My father fell in love with her
And soon the two were wed
This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life
For my daughter was my mother
'Cause she was my father's wife
To complicate the matter
Though it really brought me joy
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy
This little baby then became
A brother-in-law to Dad
And so became my uncle
Though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle
Then that also made him brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter
Who of course is my step-mother
My father's wife then had a son
Who kept them on the run
And he became my grandchild
For he was my daughter's son
My wife is now my mother's mother
And it makes me blue
Because although she is my wife
She's my grandmother too
Now if my wife is my grandmother
Then I'm her grandchild
And every time I think of it
It nearly drives me wild
For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw
As husband of my grandma
I am my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
Oh, I'm my own grandpa

19. huckleberry--
I love it!
It just shows once again that KLOWNS like KDewey KPelz NEVER, EVER think thru their boneheaded ideas look for unwanted consequences.
They just act on their "feelings".
If KPelz married his cousin, it's frightful where his family will be in a couple generations....bald, Castro-loving dysfunctional woman who cannot discern an obvious vote on a questioned ballot and with NO CONSCIENCE!!!
Nice legacy.
20. you know you've struck a nerve when the moonbats start fishing on Iraq.
21. 1st Cousins marrying and now this:
The King Kounty Klowncil is at it once again with a sideshow:
“The Democratic majority on the Metropolitan King County Council appears ready to adopt an ordinance that would prohibit discrimination against transgender people.
Supporters say they want to send a message that Washington’s most populous county opposes an initiative and a referendum proposed by Tim Eyman to overturn a new state law protecting sexual minorities.
County law already bans discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. So if state voters repeal the gay-rights law recently approved by the state Legislature, the proposed county ordinance would protect the rights of gays, lesbians and transgender people in employment, housing and public accommodations.
Several transgender people and other supporters of the ordinance spoke at a council hearing Monday.”
WOW “several” transgender people spoke. That must have been a REAL treat! Thank God the Republicans voted NO and want to focus on the REAL business of the people!!
22. Liberals have a long history of marrying cousins, FDR was married to his first cousin Ellinore. Since liberals don't reproduce as prolifically as conservatives, the day will hopefully come when they will have to marry family, because the rest of us will be to sane to have anything to do with them.
23. I'd actually have less of a problem with changing the marriage requirements if they included polygamy, ince$t etc.
At least then, it would be consistent as opposed to cutting out a block for their perfered group.
24. Dan says:
Liberals have a long history of marrying cousins, FDR was married to his first cousin Ellinore.
Actually, Eleanor was the daughter of Teddy Roosevelt's brother. I believe Franklin and Teddy were cousins, which would make Franklin and Eleanor first cousins, once removed.
For what it's worth...
25. In the case of Dwight PeIz, it happens that his father visited Nicaragua in 1988, while the communist Sandinistas (armed and supported by Castro) were in control of the country. His father participated in a 12-day political hospitality trip organized by the communist front "religious" organization called Witnesses for Peace that later became the fanatically pro-Castro Pastors for Peace.

By the way Larry Gossett also went to Cuba. In the 1970s. When he got back he said they were more free in Cuba than America was under the Nixon Adminstration.
26. Let me offer the speculation that Dwight was likely offering a hero bill for constituents. Remember, he used to represent a district with a high concentration of ethnic groups some of whom have, or had, small populations in the NW and where cousin marriage, as strange as it might seem to others, represents a real option for those wanting to marry within the same race. Plus, it is more of a tradition among some ethnicities than it is for Europeans (where it was very common in the past). In California cousin marriage is legal. (No jokes please, I'm neither a liberal nor am I married to a cousin).
27. I thought there would be more Mainstreamers out there talking about "the 21st Century" and how Republicans need to "get into the 21st Century" and tap into this voter base. After all, sooner or later this is going to be mainstreamed into American society.
You know what else I think is going to be mainstreamed into American society within a generation. Now I am totally against it (but I have been against many things that have been "mainstreamed over the years), but I really believe it is all but inevitable that polyamory will become acceptable in our society though it will take a generation or so.
But it will happen. And you will probably have the RINOS go "get into the 21st Century" and accept this (sick) lifestyle.

American culture has twarted the truth.
29. Cousin Marriage is not inbreeding.
American culture has thwarted the truth.
Ever heard the saying "Don't beleive everything you read." ...
Or better yet, "Don't beleive anything you see and only half of what you hear" . . .
and this one, "The truth will set you free".
Ask yourself these questions:
Do my friends, family members and/or colleauges tell me I stand out or that I flow with the crowd?
Do I want to think for myself or am I comfortable with the ignorance of mindless mutter?
Do I want to associate myself with those whose favorite pastime may be to spew garbage in order to make themselves feel better about themselves?
And perhaps more importantly to some of you, these questions:
What does the Lord say?... Do I know the word he speaks to me?... Do I know the word he has given to me?
When you hear sayings like "Don't beleive anything you see and only half of what you hear.", what does that mean to you? Can you think of I time you beleived you saw an event and knew the truth because you saw it with your own eyes, only to realize that slight of hand had fooled you... or you simply did not see what you thought you had saw merely because you were looking at the situation without clear eyes?
What about "Don't beleive anything you read". Did or did not your parents guide you with that simple instruction, more than once perhaps? Well, do you beleive this refers to the Lords' word or to the word of man?
Non-beleiver? Well, the piddle of the crowd is still a cheap source of self-esteem which undoubtedly will leave you empty-handed.
