I'm pleasantly surprised to see that our local lunatic fringe liberals, who have long been champions for election fraud, have suddenly become advocates for clean elections. The unhinged lefties are all atwitter about an episode where right-wing talking head Ann Coulter is apparently improperly registered to vote and attempted to vote in the wrong precinct.
A Palm Beach poll worker says he tried to help GOP-loving pundit Ann Coulter vote in the right precinct last week. But, Jim Whited says, Coulter dashed out of the polling place when he told her she needed to file a change of address ... But the owner of the Indian Road home where Coulter is registered, Realtor Susanne Frisbie, told Page Two this week that Coulter never lived there. Frisbie was Coulter's real estate agent and allowed her to forward mail there.Loonie blogger David Goldstein writes sarcastically
Hmm. Im assuming the clean elections folk over at (u)SP would support throwing the book at her.Of course I do. And for similar reasons, I also support throwing the book at former Speaker of the House Tom Foley who is still improperly registered and voting at an address where he has never lived and uses only for mail-forwarding, the home of his former aide Janet Gilpatrick. (For the record, and not that it should matter in these particular cases, but in case anybody wonders, my opinion of Tom Foley is that he's a great American and a distinguished public servant and that Ann Coulter is a particularly ineffective and uninspiring advocate of conservative ideas -- In my view, she lowers the bar for conservatives in the same unappealing way that David Goldstein lowers the bar for liberals, the only difference is that she makes more money at it than Goldstein does). In any event, both Coulter and Foley appear to be registered and voting improperly and should be held accountable. Sadly, many liberals try to use election laws selectively for partisan advantage. But for me, and I believe for most people who read SoundPolitics, preserving the honesty and fairness of the elections process is not less important than having one's favored candidate win.
And on the subject of poll workers
Kudos to the poll worker who did his job and informed Ann Coulter of the rules for voting properly. This reminds me of the episode at my own polling place this past November when I informed a self-admitted ineligible voter that he was not eligible to vote that day. (He told me he had just moved to Washington from California and only registered on October 13, which was past the 30-day cut-off for voting on Nov. 8). To this day, the loonie liberals (including poll inspector Nancy Shelton, Deanron and Goldstein) condemn me for actually doing my job and safeguarding the ballot box from illegal votes. But of course I was right all along. The new statewide voter database confirms that the voter in question registered on October 13, after the deadline, exactly as he told me at the polling place. I never believed he intended to do anything wrong by showing up at the polls on election day. I assume he simply wasn't aware of the rules. I was correct to inform him that he wasn't yet eligible to vote, even over the objections of partisan poll inspector Nancy Shelton. In spite of her efforts and those of Deanron's employees to persuade Plank to go to a different polling place and cast an illegal vote, King County records indicate that he did not submit another provisional ballot. I do hope that he'll vote now that he's eligible and that in the future, King County will encourage its poll workers to be as diligent as I was and that Ann Coulter's poll worker was to do their jobs and help voters vote legally.
Perhaps we should judge her by KC standards and give her an extra ballot and our best wishes.
What she did was wrong and she should be punished according to Florida law. Once she is convicted, could we get that portion of the law enacted here too?

Posted by: gs on February 18, 2006 06:11 PM"Celebrity"
Someday Goldy's gonna be famous, does he have talent...... well no
These days he don't really need it thanks to reality shows
Goldy can't wait to date a supermodel, can't wait to sue his dad
Can't wait to wreck Prius Hybrid on his way to rehab
[1st Chorus]
'Cause when Goldy's a celebrity
It's adios reality
Goldy can act just like a fool
People think he's cool
Just 'cause he's on a Blog
Goldy can throw a major fit
When his latte isn't just how he likes it
When they say he's gone insane
Hell blame it on the fame
And the pressures that go with
Being a celebrity
Goldy gets to cry to Barbara Walters when things don't go his way
He'll get community service no matter which law he break
He'll make the supermarket tabloids, they'll write some awful stuff
But the more they run his name down the more his price goes up
[2nd Chorus]
'Cause when Goldy's a celebrity
It's adios reality
No matter what you do
People think he's cool
Just 'cause he's on a Blog
Goldy can fall in and out of love (WITH FELLA'S)
Have marriages that barely last a month
When they go down the drain
He'll blame it on the fame
And say it's just so tough
Being a celebrity
[Bridge]
So let's hitch up the wagons and head out west
To the land of the fags and the sun
Goldy will be real world homo jackass millionaire
Hey hey, Ron Sims, here Goldy comes!!
[3rd Chorus]
'Cause when Goldy's a celebrity
It's adios reality
No matter what you do
People think he's cool
Just 'cause he's on Blog
Being a celebrity
Yeah celebrity
Slightly modified....and personalized!
Posted by: Mr. Cynical on February 18, 2006 06:59 PMOh yeah, she receive mean-spirited, ad hominem attacks made by this blog, too.
Meanwhile, if you still worry about the 2004 election here , how about demanding that we find all of the felons who voted? Judge Bridges, in his ruling, strongly suggested that most of the felons had voted for Rossi. If we investigate this fully, we might raise Governor Gregoire's margin of victory past the margin of uncertainty, and you could stop fretting about her supposed illegitimacy. Knowing that Rossi almost took office because of the illegal votes of felons, but that our process ultimately awarded the office to the rightful winner, should end any worries about legitimacy in our Governor's election.
Posted by: Paddy Mac on February 18, 2006 07:12 PMWhile this story is intriguing...there is a lot missing... Does Ann Coulter still hold residence at her old home? Was there a time limit she had to change her address prior to the election? Did she just flake out and decide to vote in her old precinct? Who knows! There isn't enough information!
If she did vote in her old precinct - she was wrong - she should have to explain herself - but at least she only voted once....unlike the scores of duplicate democrat voters that seem to plague this country...
Posted by: Deborah on February 18, 2006 07:13 PMEven after the 2004 governor's debacle, Goldstein manages to keep his readers interest piqued, and it looks like you are among them, Stefan! I wish I could say the same for your posts here at SP.
SP has dropped to the bottom of my bookmarks list the last few months, largely because the content here is often static, and tends to be narrowly focused on one issue--VOTE FRAUD--rarely as enticing or exciting as other regional and national issues.
Time will tell whether SP lives past the rise and fall of the 2004, and 2005 elections.
More about Cantwell and McGavick would be a welcome change. Overall, you need to diversify to remain relevant.
Posted by: CantVoteWell on February 18, 2006 07:41 PMAnd for those lightweights pursuing "regional and national issues as enticing or exciting" as what: MSM hysterics over not being given engraved invitations to a quail hunt? Or not receiving multiple engraved confessions from their preferred victim? Said lightweights probably prefer unsubstantiated gossip anyway, which is always more "enticing" and "exciting" than extensive evidence of a serious flaw in King County's democratic process.
That flaw may not be a national issue - no thanks to the oh-so-professional MSM - but it means something a lot more important than the ratings of savagely biased blow-dried agenda 'journalists' competing for gun notches on TV.
Posted by: Hank Bradley on February 18, 2006 08:11 PMAnd why are you a contributor here, if you never post anything except comments?
Posted by: CantVoteWell on February 18, 2006 08:48 PMOf course, if I were the suspicious type, the fact that "CantVoteWell" forgot to take horsesass.org out of the URL field before posting might make me question his bona fides as a well-wisher.
Posted by: ScottM on February 18, 2006 08:55 PMPerhaps... for those with the attention span of a gnat.
Try actually reading the posts someday.
Go ahead, make a bet with yourself as to how soon the posts devolve into 'hate Bush', 'neocon nazi', 'Cheney/Rumsfeld terrorist', and the small-minded, over used 'f-you'.
The gnats are singing to the choir and talking to themselves over there, while Goldshmidt (or whatever his name is) writes epics to his own ego.
No thanks.
Posted by: Cheryl on February 18, 2006 08:59 PMSoundpolitics has become my favorite site because Stephan does stay focused on what he has always been focused on. He doesn't rant and rave like HA does filled with BUSH hatred.
You can't post there without being called a NAZI.
The people there are as filled with hatred as the author of that site, and just as willing to back the fraud filled elections in this state.
Sorry I'll stick with Soundpolitics and help clean up this election mess in Washington.
If you can be proud of this governor, after her lies, overtaxation, over regulation, then you must be a government worker or tied by the hip to one.
Posted by: GS on February 19, 2006 01:05 AMGoldstein is a fool. If his goal is to be the Ann Coulter of Liberals, he's doing a poor job, and if his goal is to be a credible Liberal journalist, he's doing a poor job. He can't figure out what he wants besides just having his blog as a place to air his smug little ideas.
Stefan does a nice job of exposing the never-ending hypocrisy of liberals with this post. And as much as liberals think we are all "neocon-wingnuts" I fully support Stefan's statement. I am fine with a Democrat who wins a race fair and square, and I want to see election reform to make sure that every candidate has a fair shot.
Posted by: Jeff B. on February 19, 2006 09:06 AMKLOWNstein desires fame and admiration because of his low self-esteem issues.
Stefan desires results.
KLOWNstein has the LEFTIST PINHEAD establishment blocking for him. KLOWNstein starts on third base and wants everyone to believe he hit a triple.
I admire Stefan because he is trying to hit a real home run while the KLOWNS throw globs of salt in his eyes.
KLOWNSTEIN is the hare with a huge head start and easily distracted.
Stefan is the meticulous tortise...with his eye on the target and rentlessly moving along.
Actually here at DSHS we have a fund to help Goldstein TRANSFORM into Ann Coulter. Kind of the "three buck chuck of nip and tuck" if you will. Have goldy give us a call, we can't do much about the mug, but we can fix the plumbing with state money!
Posted by: 90210 on February 19, 2006 11:34 AMWhy has the Democratic Executive or Legislature ever done anything about the unethical practices of Port Districts (Port of Seattle, Port of Olympia, Port of Bremerton, etc.) in purposely hiring registered lobbyists to represent our citizens. If this isn't a conflict of interest I don't know what is,and it has been going on for years!
These are clear unethical practices and possible violates of RCW 42.52 where:
No state officer or state employee may have an interest, financial or otherwise, direct or indirect, or engage in a business or transaction or professional activity, or incur an obligation of any nature, that is in conflict with the proper discharge of the state officer's or state employee's official duties.
Why are registered lobbyists allowed to hold influential government positions while at the same time they or their firms work as registered lobbyists. This clearly allows an "inside trader" advantage in the their government positions and access to contract decisions, as well as contacts where they are able to nourish and influence toward their own private cause.
Legislation should be passed to prevent these unfair practices now.

God, I get sick of people defending this absolute joke of a woman. She's no better then Michael Moore, and we should know better.
I agree with you about Foley and Goldy too.
Posted by: Cliff on February 19, 2006 01:42 PMAnn Coulter is brilliant and incisive . . . go puke on God somewhere else, your simplistic discernment resembles Michael Moore.
If in fact Ann Coulter did something—anything wrong—she should pay the price. None of us know enough facts to say either way. Nevertheless, although I don't agree that Coulter is anything like Clownstein, kudos to the poll worker, and Stefan for playing by the rules.
I agree with Deborah and, "think we could use an army of Ann Coulters here on the west coast!" From the looks of the legislative agenda in Olympia, we will need another kind of army soon if things keep dashing down the liberal socialist communist path they pursue. This state is a toilet where a conservative vote doesn't count and Clownstein is popular because his followers thrive on boring gratuitous (harpoontang-style) mock-blasphemy in service to vapid pseudo intellectualism. Don’t bother looking for anything of value.
I wonder if anyone has stopped spewing venom long enough to find out.
As for Stephen's post, I agree with his pointing out the hypocrisy of the left. I just don't want to become what the liberals say we are. I'd rather get the facts, then come to a conclusion.

... who gives a rusted phuck about ann coulter?
time to go to another blog.
Posted by: J on February 19, 2006 10:25 PMBut as of late (say since last Novemeber) I haven't been much impressed with what he's posting here.
I do like Matt Rosenberg, Jim Miller Tim Goddard, and Andy McDonald's occasional posts. But there have been a number of issues this blog doesn't cover that I wish it would. Try to suggest that to Stefan and you get 1) no response or 2) blown off like you're some kind of nut.
Posted by: CantVoteWell on February 19, 2006 11:45 PMAnd who exactly knows that Coulter doesn't spend time at that residence- maybe more so than at others.
I want to know how a judge outside a district can vote within that district just because he used his residence as the Courthouse.
Posted by: swatter on February 20, 2006 07:33 AMThat said, I don't count her as a spokesperson for conservatism. Nor do I count Rush. People on the left often associate Republicans or conservatives with Rush or Ann, as if we ascribe to whatever they say, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Posted by: Palouse on February 22, 2006 11:15 AMI hope that Ms. Coulter will hang with a better crowd who can guide her through the electoral thicket. Then let them straighten out Tom Foley & Michael Moore, a big fat idiot recently registered to vote in two states.
