Bogus Voting Residences (III): Police Stations

In today's installment of Bogus Voting Residences we find voters registered at four of the Seattle Police Department's five precinct stations

North Precinct, 10049 College Way N

West Precinct, 810 Virginia St

East Precinct, 1519 12th Ave

South Precinct, 3001 S Myrtle St

An SPD spokesman assures me that nobody resides in these buildings.

Some of the police station voters are listed as SPD employees. Some of them also have voting mailing addresses in the suburbs where they own homes.

2. And there is even apartments there at the College Way N precinct. I wonder if apt 421 is a cell block!

Never seems to amaze me this bogus voter registration. It is sure a good thing we are going to all mail voting now, so all the graft will be under King County's nose.

They are so good at cleaning up the voter registration lists after all!

3. What? No sarcastic comment yet from some left wing fraud-lover about how Stefan is wasting his time rooting out this clear evidence of systemic illegal voting?

Get with it, losers!

4. What is disconcerting is that they also voted in their real homes. Or so it seems.

5. Some of my best friends vote at the jail and at the social club, at home, at my bookies, at Emerald Downs. Whatever Forgetaboutit!

9. Hmmm...I don't recognize any of the names.....

Being a Police Officer does not place you above the law..(even in flakey King County...)

10. hold on!!! being a cop i should say something...a lot of us use our precinct address for safety reasons!!!! not to vote!!! i do, my dol list my work address, several years ago and recently, we've known bad guys to find out where we live via dol, car registration, etc...so think before u decide we're trying to fraud this messed up county...98% of us are GOPer's anyway...

11. j is correct about the officer safety issue....I never thought of it!

I've known officers who have had to change the names on their county tax records to their spouses name because the bad guys will look them up for their personal information and address....

12. J - I'm not sure anyone is accusing these people of fraud. What is being charged is that, by state law, the registrations at these addresses are not legal.

What would be fraud is if any of these people were registered at the "office" and some other place.

13. Wouldn't Police Officers concerned about their personal safety qualify for the Address Confidentiality Program? Thus, they would be able to vote where they actually reside and avoid detection by bad guys that may want to hurt them or their families.
I can't find anything that allows them to vote using the Precindt as their residence address however.

14. More good points!

I believe the Police Guild/union would have to work out whether or not officers are eligible for the address confidentiality program.. From what I've heard - there is no such program being offered to Seattle cops..Maybe on a case by case basis...I'm not sure about the county and state law enforcement either...

I also question whether there is sufficient cause to worry about a "voter registration" address -when a bad guy is trying to find you... Then again - with Stefan's posting of the statewide voter database online - I was able to find everyone I know - including their names, addresses, birthdates, and the names of spouses and persons of voting age living with them .....

(pssst...just a wee bit too much information available there....)

15. "with Stefan's posting of the statewide voter database online" - it's not Stefan who made this available, just more widely. If this information shouldn't be available (and there's a VERY good argument that it shouldn't), that's our govt's job to keep it confidential. We don't prosecute Novak for printing Valerie Plame's job history, we go after whoever told him.

16. Stefan-

I have concerns about the DIMS (Diebold owned voter registration database software) system used by King Co. Chatting with Tim Borders, he listed a number of problems. Like it doesn't verify addresses (a data entry / data quality issue) and doesn't have good search features. I also googled a bit.

The impression that I had was DIMS doesn't do geocoding. Which is silly. Do you know either way?

Cheers, Jason

17. CitizenSane,

I meant in no way to imply that Stefan has posted more database information than what is publicly available. I appreciate that Stefan provides so many documents and resources in one place (SP)- for the public to review! Especially King County elections documents and resources! If KC had it their way - they would make it impossible for the public to view ANY documents/database that could reveal the fraud they've been up to.

Just so we're clear here....There is nothing wrong with Stefan's posting of the database. I'm concerned about what information the *state* is allowing to be made public in that database.
