Dean Logan, Dogcatcher

Dean Logan is not just in charge of King County Elections. He is the Director of Records, Elections and Licensing Services Division. Licensing, as in pet licensing and animal control. In other words, Dean Logan is the county dogcatcher.

Some have suggested that elections are not Dean's forte, and that maybe he should stick to catching dogs. Then again, maybe not

The state Court of Appeals has overturned a King County-imposed death sentence for Maxine, a 7-year-old mixed-breed dog owned by software pioneer Peter Mansour.
As it turns out, Dean Logan's Animal Services Dept. violated the due process rights of Maxine and her owner.

In addition to making the Elections Auditor an elected position, maybe King County should also make Dogcatcher an elected position. Dean Logan would be free to move to King County and run for either office. Who says he couldn't get elected dogcatcher? Give him a chance to run and find out.

1. He'd get my vote for dogcatcher, so long as the job description involved him cleaning poop out of the cages. He'd win without any ballot box stuffing help from his cronies.

3. Great reporting. Yes, dogcatcher...

Description: Division within Department of Executive Services that handles records, recording, elections, voter registration, for-hire driver licensing, marriage licensing, pet licensing, animal control, animal programs, King Countys public information line, and the community service centers.

Your satire is hilarious.

5. instead of: Maxine and her owner.

should it be: Maxine and her care giver.

After all, dogs are people too.

6. Stefan,

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story. How, precisely, is Dean Logan responsible for the wording of a statute? Just curious. Seems like Animal Control followed the law. Seems what really happened is that someone felt the law was wrong and, as is how the system works here in America, decided to challenge the statute in court. You know about court challenges, Stefan, you RightWingNuts are continually losing them, but, I digress. The challenger has proven his point and won his court case.

How is this Dean Logan's doing? How does this reflect in any way, shape or form on his job performance? How do you make this leap? I would think, blindly!

Wait, I know. It is all a giant conspiracy designed to keep the RightWingNut down.

7. Oh, wow, this is hilarious! "Dog receives death sentence for killing cat". Mother Nature gone berserk! Was motive established? Were there witnesses? What was the forensic evidence? Did they do DNA? After animals are human, too.

Dogs are genetically coded to kill cats. Cats are genetically coded to kill mice. So what? I'm sorry someone lost their cat, but this is absurd.

8. I still think Logan makes a better shoe salesman than anything else.

10. I don’t think that Logan is a very good “dog catcher” either. Year before last the county sent people around to knock on doors and ask if they had licensed their pet(s). They knew the name of my pet but they didn’t know if he was licensed (which he was and has been for 14 years now). Strange. You send the money to them, they send the license back but they don’t know who has what?

As an aside: My neighbor, who is a big “we don’t pay enough taxes” liberal didn’t pay the licenses on his huge dog. When I asked him when he was going to start paying taxes on his dog, he didn’t come up with a date but did call me an “a**hole”. Gee, I was just askin’ . . .

Heh, heh, Cast my vote for shoe salesman . . . for Redwing.

11. So the guy who causes so much grief for King County doesn't even live in King County? Shouldn't he have to suffer under the same problems that he caused for the folks who do live in King County?

I still find it quite strange than Mr. Logan has managed to somehow retain his job. But then Ron Sims is still in office...

12. Nah, he'd be lousy at that too - Sims is still running around without a license and barking.

I can see it now, a register your dog to vote site for Democrats!
