And speaking of pro-choice
State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe (D-WEA), chairwoman of the Senate Education Committee, is in today's Seattle Times with an op-ed "Rising to [eliminate] the WASL challenge". McAuliffe outlines a "bill of rights" for Washington high school students. The most obvious right missing from the list is the right to school choice. Perhaps this was an unintentional omission. Then again, probably not. But McAuliffe is pro-choice!

1. Interesting that the bill of rights covers all of the things the Seattle Schools lack. And McAuliffe is all for furthering watering down the standards even more with her certificate of "achievement". Kids with true learning disabilities are a small percentage of the student population so the extra they need can be done within the current budget if the administration gets their priorities straight.

Notice how she didn't say what people told her about the WASL during her travels throughout the state. I have a hunch the response was overwhelming in favor of dumping the WASL for a better test like the IBST. And liberals wonder why mainstream America thinks they're out of touch with reality.

2. McAuliffe states in her article that she bore and raised two dislexic children. She also favors abortion. 'Nuff said.

3. By eliminating the WASL and allowing more kids to make it through our already weak education system without actually having learned anything, McAuliffe is just pandering to her base.

She and the rest of the Progressives need a steady flow of uneducated dolts that will join unions, teacher's unions, and the ever growing legions of local and state bureaucrats, so they can assure themselves future votes.

Dumb down the masses and create a welfare state with a Progressive Elite Ruling class. That's the Progressive-Democrat Nirvana, with Queen Hillary presiding at the Ministry of Thought.
