Seattle's Judenrein City Council

The Seattle City Council has announced the 14 semi-finalists for the seat vacated by Jim Compton. (Names and resumes here). After the Councilmembers announced that they would be most interested in a "woman of color", the 14 semi-finalists (out of a pool of 101, list and video here) include 9 women and 5 men, 6 blacks, 3 Asians, 3 Latinos and 2 whites (both female, one openly lesbian). Not a single white man in the bunch. It's easy to laugh at this lame-ass version of "diversity" where you can have 14 minorities with identical opinions and all but exclude 2/3 of the population. But it's actually more sinister than it appears -- it's thinly veiled anti-Semitism. Even though half a dozen or so of the original applicants have Jewish names, not a single one was picked in the first cut. Not that I really care about the ethnic background of my City Councilmen, but ethnic diversity was the most important selection critieria that the Councilmen themselves raised. No legislative body since the Nuremberg Party Conference of 1935 has been so obsessed with classifying people by race. The fact that they excluded all Jews from further consideration (and refused to accept the application from one particular Jew) confirms that their underlying motivation is anti-Semitism, rooted in Nazism.

This recent photograph of Councilman Peter Steinbrück, with his telltale haircut, moustache and stiff-arm salute, tells you everything you need to know about where these guys are coming from

Why do liberals come here if they don't like what is posted? It boggles the mind! Liberals are so damn weired!

I AM disappointed that they didn't pick that ABBA guy! It would have been so entertaining.

9. Another good question were any of these people openly Christian. I cant see them picking a Bible Believing Christian either. I think that they will do anything to keep People with a strong religious belief off the Council at all costs. Because whether you are a Jew or Christian that believe in the 10 Commandments I do not think they would like to be reminded on what is right and wrong. Let alone push forward the idea of individual responsibility. Something that both Jews and Christians can relate to.

10. Loved the photo and caption, Stefan! I think the council's only real criteria was to pick people who could prove they had the same intellectual capacity of a protozoa. Birds of a feather....

11. I get so tired of these people dividing, classifying, and offering preferences based on color, political correctness, or sexual preference...I don't want to know any of the above about a candidate, I just want good and honest representation.

It's just sick and wrong...wish they would get over it already.

12. That's why the left loves movies like "Munich" and wants the Israelis to surrender to the Palestinians. It's sad because everyone in the US should be celebrating the Israelis. Their culture is the most like ours and they've gone from swampland, to an incredibly thriving and productive economy in just over 50 years.

Israel is our proud ally, and they've got to watch the elite left in this country and in Europe make continued calls for diplomacy towards every crazed Islamic state that has openly declared a goal of destroying Israel.

It's enough to make one sick. How many times will Israelis have to go through Nazi hatred before they are finally allowed to exist?

If this is an attempt at humor, it's lame at best, slanderous at worst, and does you no credit as a writer, blogger or human being.

14. I didn't know that there were any liberals left here in the US. I figured by now they would all be over working with the "freedom fighters" that don't believe that Israel should be allowed to exist.

Politics aside and speaking as a Jew, surely you could have found another way to poke fun. I am sure one of the hyperbole bloated posters here will tear me a new one, but this was disappointing, Stefan. Would your parents find this amusing? Is this being a mensch?

18. Ok, Left Foot. but what does it mean when Ray Nagin says "God does not approval (sic) the Iraq war"? and make statements essentially suggesting that New Orleans is only for people of a certain color...because God wants it that way? How does HE know? It was almost as if he was saying that non-blacks who lost their homes and might want to come back don't matter and that their losses somehow weren't as bad, even if they lost everything. I really think he had to have had a few before he got up and said all that, because no one in their right mind would spew that kind of wierd stuff otherwise. And how come the Daily Kos had not one mention of Nagin's strange utterances?

19. Statement of Governor Daniel J. Evans

Tuesday, January, 2006

I support this important legislation. The extension of the
Anti-Discrimination Law to include gay and lesbian individuals is a crucial
step in our society's continuing efforts to make everyone equal under the
law.

Our state prides itself on its diversity. Amending the Washington State
Anti-Discrimination Law to include "sexual orientation" will set a positive
tone of tolerance throughout the state, from local neighborhoods to
out-of-state businesses, who understand the economic value of a diverse
community.

Seeing this legislation signed into law would be a victory for our state.
What encourages me even more is the increasingly bipartisan support and I
applaud the leadership that has made this progress possible. Discrimination
is an issue for us all and is best confronted together.

This reform is long overdue. For too long a group of our citizens has been
left without the legal protection we all deserve and expect. The result has
been a group relegated to second class status. That is unacceptable.

I support this legislation because it's time that everyone be treated
equally.

20. You are right. The state/county/city is inconsistent when it comes to spending tax dollars. I feel it is reasonable to spend taxpayers' money on schools, roads, and libraries (but Seattle blew a lot of money on what should have been a "big box". The HVAC costs with the ten (10) story open structure are "through the roof". Sports stadiums should be funded by the teams, not the "state". I agree with the economic studies that there is X amount of disposable income in the area. If it is not spent on sports, it is spent on other items.

21. Misty,

Two things. Nagin lost it like Pat Robertson did. And I don't live in New Orleans. But now the score is even. Democrats one nutjob, Republicans one nutjob. This issue was Stefan's attempt at humor. As to who the Council appoints or why is a totally different issue at this point. His attempt at humor is offensive to me as a Jew. It should be offensive to him and it is sad that it is not.

To report the break down of the candidates, is one thing, but to accuse them of what you did was over the top of decent reporting. You have tarnished the whole idea of what this blog meant too many of us.

27. I can't believe the shots Stefan is taking here. Sounds like the old election challenge salvos.

He must be on to some deep truth to get these broadsides.

As for the lack of white males, that is the way it is. Were there any reasonable candidates? You see, I would pick based upon competence, activities in the private or public sector, etc. Of course, that doesn't fit the criteria.

But, the truth of the matter is that white males really don't participate in the process. Did Stefan throw his name in the ring? Matt? You see, no white male wants to be in politics.

There must be a problem here and no one has the guts to go after it- lobbying and buying of elections.

28. So Stefan,

I thought you guys had this whole thing sewed up with that Protocols of the Elders of Zion thing? Weird.

Anyways, seeing as how they didn't select a single white male (which I happen to be), who can help me file a discrimination lawsuit against the Council? I am fairly certain that I-200 forbid exactly this sort of despicable racial and sexual profiling.

As follows:
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. (1) The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.

(2) This section applies only to action taken after the effective date of this section.

(3) This section does not affect any law or governmental action that does not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.

(4) This section does not affect any otherwise lawful classification that:

(a) Is based on sex and is necessary for sexual privacy or medical or psychological treatment; or

(b) Is necessary for undercover law enforcement or for film, video, audio, or theatrical casting; or

(c) Provides for separate athletic teams for each sex.

(5) This section does not invalidate any court order or consent decree that is in force as of the effective date of this section.

(6) This section does not prohibit action that must be taken to establish or maintain eligibility for any federal program, if ineligibility would result in a loss of federal funds to the state.

(7) For the purposes of this section, "state" includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the state itself, any city, county, public college or university, community college, school district, special district, or other political subdivision or governmental instrumentality of or within the state.

(8) The remedies available for violations of this section shall be the same, regardless of the injured party's race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin, as are otherwise available for violations of Washington antidiscrimination law.

(9) This section shall be self-executing. If any part or parts of this section are found to be in conflict with federal law, the United States Constitution, or the Washington state Constitution, the section shall be implemented to the maximum extent that federal law, the United States Constitution, and the Washington state Constitution permit. Any provision held invalid shall be severable from the remaining portions of this section.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. This act shall be known and cited as the Washington State Civil Rights Act.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 3. Sections 1 and 2 of this act are each added to chapter 49.60 RCW.

It really seems like you found a "funny" picture then crafted a crappy article around it.

This kind of article, while belonging in other political blogs, does not fit Sound Politics. Sound Politics has become a very reliable source of information and has achieved more integrity then any other political blog in Washington State.

Opinions are good, but to bash an entity, call them racist, compare them to Hitler, and do so all with a silly picture and a stupid fact that no Jews were chosen, especially when the basis of your article is on how ridiculous it was for the council to pick so many minorities, is extremely irresponsible.

If you would have stopped at the fact that picking so many minorities is indeed a racist act, I would have agreed with you, and you would have made a strong point. Instead you added an idiotic comparison and negated this excellent point.

I don't understand what point you were trying to convey. All I know is that I respect you, and SoundPolitics.com, a lot less.

Not everyone like all humor - get over it. I found it very funny while at the same time making a point. Why are so many people offended by the Nazi's and Seattle's race classification comparison? Classifying people appears to be occuring here as it did in Germany then. Is there anything factually wrong with that? Maybe that is what we should be offended about!

Before any says I couldn't understand - half of my father's family died in the camps under the Germans, many of the others managed to hide from them during the war.

You claim conservatives said nothing about Pat Robertson. You provide me one liberal denouncing Nagin's comments (or Hillary's Plantation remarks) and I'll provide you numerous cites of conservatives denouncing Robertson. For starters.

What you don't understand is you guys tar Robertson with the conservative brush because it makes the Christian Right look bad. We denounce it because not only does it make 'us' look bad, but because we don't agree with what he says, either. Apparently this is difficult for you to understand.

69. Left hoof,

This is humorous. Unless you are unable, answer the questions turd. What elected office does Pat Robertson hold? What Democrats admonished Nagin's comments? What about Hillary's Plantation remarks?

Amazingly preposterous and ham-fisted evasion of facts(not).

If you so soundly defeated Soup . . . why spend so much time on irrelevant bullshit that proves you didnt?
Answer: because you are a liberal moron with no brain and no point.

Why not show up with a rational claim and argument sometime? . . . because you can always retreat to Horesesass for succor.

Thanks for showing how little threat you are to the conservative agenda.

70. So lemme get this straight....you took information from a fake ring that you thought was straight from Dubya's mouth, and forwarded them to people you consider crackpots with the proviso that they whitewash (no pun intended) innocent citizens?

Wow! You're way more evil than I previously imagined! Way to go left-nut.

73. Wrong-O, Left Foot: I heard more than a couple Rs say they thought Robertson was wrong to say it, including President Bush. You haven't paid attention. You ARE right that Dems have been silent.
