Mrs. Gregoire1 has followed my lead and endorsed Dwight Pelz for state Democratic chairman
In a joint letter to party central committee members, Gov. Christine Gregoire and Sen. Patty Murray said Pelz "stands out" in the field.Of course Mrs. Gregoire owes a great debt of gratitude to Pelz, who as a member of the King County Canvassing Board in 2004, helped manufacture votes for Mrs. Gregoire and illegally certified her "election". By "values we all share", Mrs. Gregoire must be referring to Pelz' involvement in election fraud and his admiration for Fidel Castro. I support Pelz for state Democrat chairman, because this extremist thug will constantly remind us just how far outside the mainstream the state's Democrat party really is."Dwight will come to this job with a wealth of experience in precisely the areas that will make him an effective chair, and he has been a passionate advocate for the values we all share,"
--
1 Of the two candidates for Washington governor in 2004 whose vote totals were within the margin of illegal votes as determined by a trial judge2, Mrs. Gregoire is the candidate whom most surveyed state residents believe received the smaller number of legal votes.
2 There are growing indications that King County deliberately concealed evidence of hundreds of illegal votes and intentional misconduct from the court.
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at January 13, 2006 11:46 AM | Email ThisOf course, Gregoire isn't exactly popular--this may do even more damage to Pelz's candidacy!
Now I'm depressed again.
Posted by: Timothy on January 13, 2006 12:08 PMGet over it! You lost. This is a BLUE STATE. Quit bellyaching and move on to another issue. You have much bigger problems to worry about. Your party is coming apart at the seams and from some reports, in a dead panic over the upcoming congressional elections. Personally, I can't wait.
Posted by: My Left Foot on January 13, 2006 12:14 PMI particularly like Stefan's footnote (pardon the pun) number 2.
Posted by: swatter on January 13, 2006 12:19 PMI'll have somebody else answer that question.
“A toast to the American Union -- to the forty-seven states and the soviet of Washington.”

(that would be noted right-wingnut FDR's postmaster general)
Posted by: jimg on January 13, 2006 12:23 PMThe rest of the Repubs out there, don't be complacent - nominate someone yourselves who has cajones, linked with grass roots and less with the corporate-types and thinks outside of the box for Party Chairman. It will take an effective campaign strategy to defeat the lemming lefties and the MSM and its predominantly leftwing wacko propaganda.
Posted by: KS on January 13, 2006 12:25 PM"By the way, if the Democrats are so far off the mainstream, how come we control the state?"
Have you ever thought that Washington State may be far out of the mainstream?
Here you are, crowing about 'owning' Washington. You remind me of that movie with Danny Devito - you guys make the best buggy whips!! Too bad everyone will be driving cars soon.
The Republicans own the White House (and will again in 2008), the House and the Senate (and will continue to in the foreseeable future), the Supreme Court (for the rest of our lives), and the majority of Governor's Mansions in the United States.
Meanwhile, in this MOST BLUE of states, we elected a Republican Attorney General and the Republican candidate for Governor won twice as many counts as the Democratic candidate.
You guys are hanging on by a thread in this last outpost of liberal thought. You're so far removed from mainstream that you think this is a good thing. Bully for you. You're in the tar pits - feel anything sticky yet?
Posted by: Larry on January 13, 2006 12:29 PMI would imagine that only a very small number of those have even heard of this site, much less visited it, much much less read it regularly.
But due to the popular perception, the cloud that is over Mrs Gregoire will never go away, and it has little or nothing to do with what is written on this site.
I would think that supporters of Mrs Gregoire would thus be the first ones to embrace the reforms needed to clean up KC Elections in particular, and voting by mail in general, as it is the only way to prevent this sort of thing from happening again the next time that there is a close election.
Posted by: ewaggin on January 13, 2006 12:36 PMPelz is a communist in deed and affliation.
If that is a shared value, then Gregoire is a communist. That helps explains a lot. Caring less for the sanctity of the vote than the power obtained.
Posted by: JCM on January 13, 2006 12:56 PMWe'll be fine w/ Pelz. He can only do harm to the Dems.
Posted by: A Watchdog on January 13, 2006 01:36 PMThis coronation is Christmas.
Now, Republicans don't let this happen to you. And don't rip yourselves apart. Have Simpson or Tebelius step aside and endorse the other. Please. We need to take back Olympia for the people from the taxspenders.

Posted by: ScottM on January 13, 2006 01:51 PMIT IS A GOOD THING THAT YOU LIVE IN SEATTLE WHERE THE "FAR LEFT IS SO DISCERNING". FOR THOSE OF US THAT LIVE IN THE POEPLES REPUBLIC OF TACOMA, WE KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO LIVE IN A REAL COMMUNIST STATE. WHERE WE HAVE "LAPDOG" PRESS INSTEAD OF "WATCH DOG". NO LOCAL TV OR RADIO MEDIA. A CITY COUNCIL THAT WILL NOT ALLOW OPEN DEBATE WITH ONE INFAMOUS,DISREPUTABLE,INGNOMINIOUS,SHAMEFULL,DISGRACEFULL,OPPROBRIUM EVENT AFTER THE NEXT.
SO MY LIBERAL FRIEND IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LIVE IN A LIBERAL HAVEN, WHERE YOU CAN BUY A $400,000 850 SQ.FT. "ARTIST LOFT" CONDO UPSTAIRS FROM A METHADONE CLINIC, ACROSS THE STREET FROM A LEVEL 3 SEX OFFENDER HOUSING UNIT, HUD HOUSING "PROJECT" IN THE NEXT BLOCK. WHERE THE HOOKERS WALK THE STREET WITH IMPUNITY... ALL IN THE NAME OF DEVERSITY...THEN TACOMA IS YOUR KIND OF TOWN.
SO MY LEFT FOOTTED FRIEND, YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO YOUR "CITY OF DESTINY"... TACOMA. LEAVE THAT RIGHT WING CESS-POOL OF CONSERVATIVE THOUGH THEY CALL SEATTLE FOR THE "MOST WIRED CITY"...GET METH IT PAYS.
As for the GOP, Tebelius & Simpson have two very different skillsets, and the party needs to carefully decide which it needs more. A clean, mature, healthy debate is good for the party, if only to demonstrate that it can be done. There's no need for anyone to step aside at this point.
Posted by: Timothy on January 13, 2006 02:01 PMBy the way, if the Democrats are so far off the mainstream, how come we control the state? And citing the governors election "fraud" is already taken. Lets hear how all the state legislators were elected via fraud. I am sure one of you RightWingNuts has conspiracy theory to cover this.
The answer to this question lies in the Revolution of 1964, as embodied in Supreme Court case REYNOLDS V. SIMS. (Ironic title, isn't it?) From the founding of the United States, the planners of our government recognized that the greater population densities of the cities would always return majority representation in legislative bodies. The Great Compromise solved the problem of proportional representation, where the interests of urban populations would be overrepresented verus regional representation, where the rural populations would be overrepresented. The solution was a bicameral legislature, where the people were represented in a house of representatives, with proportional representation, and a senate, where the regions were represented on the basis of one region, one vote.
In the REYNOLDS V. SIMS decision, the supreme court decided they knew better than the founders, and that both houses of every state legislature must have proportional representation. That created the death spiral of Democrat/urban overrepresentation that we have been fighting in states with large cities, since that time.
It always goes back to the 60's, doesn't it?
Posted by: huckleberry on January 13, 2006 02:01 PMIt wouldn't make any difference if the electoral college of Washington State represented districts with the same proportionality as the current legislative districts. Demographics have weighed heavily against the rural areas of Washington State.
Even worse, look at King County. If you assume that people who live in rural King County have different lifestyles, and different expectations of their county government, then those rural residents are completed screwed by the representation on the King County Council. That's democracy for you. The losers face three choices: tolerate the madness, emigrate to areas that have not been taken over by the city folk (yet), or rebellion.
Posted by: huckleberry on January 13, 2006 02:27 PMI JUST FINISHED READING RENOLDS V. SIMS AND YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MARK.
Posted by: TACOMA PHLASHI on January 13, 2006 02:48 PMI agree with your statement. We would need a system similar to what I believe the national one is. That is, one that will permit a possible discrepency between the popular vote and the electoral vote. I am not holding my breath that we could ever have such a system in WA.
Posted by: Fed Up on January 13, 2006 03:21 PMI don't even like Bush that much as a president, but seeing liberals getting their panties in a bunch daily and blaming Bush for insane stuff like hurricanes and terrorists cutting heads off is a small comfort for the idiocy of our liberal income redistributing legislature and our illegitimate commie Governor.
I can't say 'idiocy' without referencing SB6200 as proof. As though the pet saving law wasn't proof enough.
Posted by: Andy on January 13, 2006 03:34 PMI still say that the GOP is concerned, and rightly so, with hanging on to the house this November. The Republicans can not continue to be seen as not playing fair and taking advantage of position for personal gain (Delay, Frist, Abramoff). You must admit that this does not play well with the voting public. Clean up your house, there are some fine men in Republican party. Senator John McCain comes to my mind.
Again, I am really impressed that there weren't any personal attacks in this thread.
Posted by: My Left Foot on January 13, 2006 03:41 PMA comment in this thread was signed by "bite me." But I do appreciate you jumping in so vigorously in your first post on this thread. Nice to not be disappointed.
Posted by: Danny on January 13, 2006 03:59 PMMcCain is a R only because he couldn't win as an I. He isn't an R. But that aside, the voting public doesn't like corrupt politicians, though most think ALL politicians are corrupt. However, the Dems have to have ideas and goals and they don't. They do not have an agenda to keep America safe and growing or at least they haven't told anyone.
As for why WA is a Blue state, it is a mystery to me....just like it was when my grandparents always voted Dem. They were against abortion, homosexuality, government intrusion and high taxes.....however, they had loved FDR and that's why they voted. I suspect there are people out there today that do the same. Also, the liberal press that dominates (that domination is ending) the airwaves, liberal teaching and the me now attitude is why this gets along.....plus the fact that hugging a tree is still a big thing here.
However, things will start changing as people understnd that Dem now is socialist and thats just not good for anyone.
Posted by: Dengle on January 13, 2006 04:05 PMJust a note, it is chardonnay. Apparently you did not spill enough and a wee bit too much made it into your system. See you in Wisconsin.
Posted by: My Left Foot on January 13, 2006 06:16 PMFor all the concerns among Republicans that you point out, the Democratic Party is absolutely failing to make up any ground and close the gap.
You commend us for not making any personal attacks, while we've just watched a week full of personal attacks on a fine public servant - Samuel Alito. The country sees this spectacle, and it doesn't make your party look good.
Take, for instance, Ted Kennedy's grilling of Alito about his Vanguard Fund. Teddy has never had to work a day in his life (and his Senate record bears out that he rarely does), because he's been fed with a silver spoon only when the gold ones are being polished. Yet he ruthlessly harangues a life-long distinguished middle-class public servant about his mutual fund. You can smell the hypocrisy all the way out in Forks. And how would Teddy answer questions about swimming away from a drowning woman that his drinking put into the drink? Then you have the Democratic members of the Justice Committee not even bothering to be present when Alito's collegues testify on his behalf. Disgusting.
Meanwhile, the New York Times and Al Gore are speaking out about the police state, while most Americans agree with tapping into cell phone conversations from overseas terrorist hot-spots. You guys couldn't swim any harder against the current if you tried.
Your points may be valid, but they are also meaningless due to the sheer hypocrisy and game-playing one-upmanship exhibited by the leaders of your party.

He's just a troll and nothing more.
Posted by: Army Medic/Vet on January 13, 2006 06:45 PMTroll: In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who posts inflammatory messages on the Internet, such as on online discussion forums, to disrupt discussion or to upset its participants. "Troll" can also mean the inflammatory message itself posted by a troll or be a verb meaning to post such messages. "Trolling" is also commonly used to describe the activity.
I have not, with maybe an exception or two, posted something on this site solely to be inflammatory. When I did, it was in response to someone attacking me. I am good with words and sometimes I shoot back.
So Army Dude, let me explain something to you. You will never convince me to toe the Republican line and I don't expect that I will convince you otherwise. However I do learn a great deal here. Not all of it is positive, but it is learning just the same. Your statement above was designed to inflame, but I considered the source and let it go.

Need we go on, moron......
Posted by: THS on January 13, 2006 08:02 PMThe Dem's may "control" this state, but when you visit my "red" county, keep on a truckin.
When an entire state is "controlled" by a bunch of tree huggin, land grabbin, "it's all about me" population, there will be trouble.
All I can say is at least we can "count" our votes, and we do it with an Elected Auditor. We don't have to "Buy" our elections.
Don't you feel a bit ashamed? I would, but I am neither a Democrat, or a resident of KC.
One last item.... Thanks for being polite in your above posts. :)

"As the right wing in America gains strength in the neighborhoods of our cities and in the pews of our churches, it is vital that Washington stand out as a progressive beacon. We have an almost unique ability to turn back the property rights activists who would repeal our zoning laws, to move forward the right of all our citizens to marry and raise children, and to preserve a woman's right to choose regardless of the actions of a future Bush Court."
Stefan has this guy pegged! Can't you just feeeeeel the angst oozing from his site?! Even dwight recognizes the self-defeating nature of phony, all~but~the~name~Socialist "progressivism" (AKA loony lefty liberalism) in Western Washington.

He said, ”I know that you honestly believe that you might know me. You don't. I travel to Seattle twice a month to check my property and business. I am 52 years old and the father of three. My one fault is that I love a good argument, love to egg folks on just to see how flustered they can get. At no time have you upset or angered me. At no time have I lied to you in any post. My education, my military experience or anything else. I told you these things to see your reaction.”
Who cares?
Funny how people like this who have absolutely nothing of value to say, insist on saying it over and over again. Never one for making any arguments, this guy is an insufferable bore, and another pointlessly arrogant troll without anything useful to contribute. Nothing new . . . just more of the same empty cowardly garbage.
Nevertheless, as you say, We're all behind ya dwight....”

Still yet . . . who cares?
How about those Seahawks?
Liberals are desperate aren’t they?
Douche-bag dug thinks we're one in the same. He is, of course, wrong (again). Funny how he projects his own dementia onto others. Very liberal. Very sick. Also very consistent.
Douche-bag dug doesn't recognize the prevailing definition of spam as "unsolicited email". As in, if I didn't invite your ignorant, bigoted email, you're not welcome here. Doesn't matter however. If Douche-bag dug was to suddenly become cognizant of his surroundings, he would find that he isn't exactly welcome anywhere.
At any rate, I'd offer to place a wager with Douche-bag dug on my individuality (I'm sure Stefan could easily corroborate via IP addresses), but being a liberal, he has no honor and wouldn't pay up.
Whatta Douche-bag (dug).....
I'm sending you a complete un-expurgated version of dugnut’s (AKA RightWingNot) e-mail to me.
Anyone else is welcome to one although who cares? The truth is the truth.
Dugnut only proves in his latest post (January 14, 2006 08:02 PM) once again that he is a liar as well as a liberal coward. I quoted his e-mail verbatim.
I wouldn't waste time on this foolishness except it is illustrative of the "Teddy Kennedy style" tactics of blowhard liars from the left where they have no argument whatsoever so they resort to misdirection and vile bilious derision.
Anyway . . . how about that Dwight boy eh? Go for it; Dwight Pelz for President!!
Hey Dwight, maybe dugnut will be your legal analyst!!
By the way, it came to my attention that dugnut (AKA RightWingNot) cried and

twinks to gain support form the degenerates there for excoriating you as a bigot because dugnut is too
fu@king stupid, bigoted, and reactionary to behave like a respectable adult. What a slimy and cowardly punk.
Does this clown's imaginary balloon ever land?
I doubt it.
"The anger that you express in your posts is really indicative of something that troubles you much deeper than you want to admit. You keep carrying that anger and it will eat you up inside."
Sound familiar? It should because you wrote it. It also should because it expresses the very thing that is driving you to be so contentious and acrimonious.
Cry your crocodile tears all you want, but you fool no one but yourself. Now run along and pout little man....
