Left-wing Seattle radio host Mike Webb has been charged with insurance fraud. Webb submitted apparently forged documents purporting to show that he purchased a GEICO auto insurance policy weeks before he was involved in a collision for which he filed a claim. Bank and insurance records contain compelling evidence that Webb didn't purchase the policy until the day after the accident.
"I was shocked by this," Webb said. "It would take an absolute idiot to try to defraud someone like that."Yes, and anybody who has heard the Mike Webb Show knows that Webb is an absolute idiot.
I never did understand how Entercom/KIRO management let that one fly. I talked to people in radio about that and all they said was "so what, maybe its true."
How they can let someone on the air who is so slanderously bombastic i have no idea. many a person on the radio has been summarily fired for saying much less.

Posted by: JDB on December 22, 2005 10:30 AM"But here, as in that other Emerald City in "The Wizard of Oz," there is a dark side. Local governance has come to resemble that in those old movie Westerns--the ones where the powerful get what they want, public officials eat at their trough, and townsfolk eat dust and pay the bills."
Elected officials and media are the ruling elite in this region and lock-step King/Pierce/Snohomish urban libs want to keep it that way but the political tide is slowly starting to turn.
Posted by: JDH on December 22, 2005 11:13 AMWell I am an extreme right winger in Webb's world. Conservative / Libertrarian, right of the current RHINO party. Favor Liberty, Limited Government etc....
I pay my bills, keep my insurance and tabs current, pay my taxes. And return the money when a cashier give two much change.
Webb has the unmitigated gall to call me EVIL.
Is it any wonder I have little respect for most liberals.
The intellectual dishonesty is so transparent to anyone who would look.

Posted by: JCM on December 22, 2005 11:24 AM"He also said that he and his lawyer, Bradley Marshall, are considering the possibility that somebody who "hates" his talk show may have hacked into his computer records. "We are looking into hacking. Some people will do anything to damage you," said Webb, 50."
That's right. Somebody 'hates' you so much they're willing to hack into your computer somehow, fix your records (assuming they even knew about your fender bender) just so you can be charged with insurance fraud. Got an order of fries with that ego?
Mike - if somebody 'hates' you that much, it'd be a lot easier to simply t-bone your sorry butt at an intersection. Most people who 'hate' you would simply change the dial, but I'm sure that makes too much sense.
What is it with paranoid liberals? "The Wingnuts are out to get me ... unless BushCo gets me first."
Posted by: jimg on December 22, 2005 11:34 AMNice cheap shot.
Not that what Rush did was right, but there is a world of difference between getting hooked on the painkillers you were prescribed after back surgery, and trying to defraud an insurance company
Posted by: Mike H on December 22, 2005 01:16 PMI also find it amazing that KIRO hasn't suspended him until the whole thing is resolved. Supposedly he returns next week.
Posted by: Janet S on December 22, 2005 02:35 PMMike Webb has an overblown sense of his self-importance. Even if there is a right-wing plot to destroy left wing opponents (which I extremely doubt), I don't think Mike Webb would even show on the radar screen as being worth the attention. Nobody with an ounce of intelligence would even take his rantings seriously.
For My RIGHT Friends:
Here's wishing all of You a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah and a Happy New Year!
In America, where most of us live, innocent until PROVEN guilty is still the rule of law.
You conspiracy guys just don't get it.....

Posted by: DugoutNut on December 22, 2005 05:39 PMYou stole the holiday greeting. Would be nice to give credit to the author or at least note that you found it on the net.
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah!
From the Left,
Dug
Posted by: DugoutNut on December 22, 2005 05:42 PMUm, check me if I'm wrong, Sandy, [/carl spackler voice] but the only conspiracy I'm seeing here is the hateful wingnuts who hacked into his computer, changed the start date of his insurance policy AND his bank statements so he could be charged with insurance fraud.
And one thing you need to keep in mind, Dug, innocent until proven guilty is the rule of law ... in the courtroom. In the court of public opinion, I can say the guy is guilty as the day is long and there's not thing one you can do about it. It's called the Libby/DeLay gambit. I learned it from you guys.
Roscoe - classic. lol
Posted by: jimg on December 22, 2005 07:24 PMYou keep carrying around that anger, it'll eat you up inside..... Don Henley
I feel sorry for you, Cyn, you hate so much, you have so much anger. That anger will fuel the fire for a while, but you will burn out soon enough.
Keep complaining and doing nothing, Cynical. Rail against the system if you must. You are loud, you are obnoxious and you are without idea one on how to really effect meaningful change.
Again, this is a Blue state, perhaps Louisiana would be nice change for you. Red state, plenty of controversy in New Orleans for you to get involved it. The mayor is a Democrat in predominately black city. You can make your claims of an ignorant electorate there.
I think that may gall me more than anything else you have to say. That the majority are STUPID PINHEADED LENINISTS simply because they disagree with you, the GREAT CYNICAL. Perhaps you have missed something along the way, Cynical, but if you look around you will find that you are in the minority.
Everyday your chosen party, the party of big business and corruption is digging its grave, deeper and deeper and deeper. And everyday y'all scream about how unfair it is. How the voters were not registered properly, how the SYSTEM is set up to screw Republicans. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Well, Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah. And I don't give a dang if you put a nativity scene on the courthouse lawn, as long as I can put a Menorah next to it, if I were to choose to do so.

Posted by: DugoutNut on December 22, 2005 08:34 PMDug, I used to think KLOWNS like you were just joking about all those boneheaded ideas you call Progressive. Then I found you you actually believe your own BS. Simply amazing! Your downfall Dug is that you have zero sense of humor. Your "humor gland" has shriveled up, turned black and fallen to the earth somewhere....forever lost.
I have learned a lot about the LEFTIST mentality from this and other Blogs. The bottom-line Dugster:
"That don't impress me much"---Shania Twain
You ain't been rocked enough..... Delbert McClinton.
Your eyes are a mist from the smoke of a distant fire..... Sanford and Townsend

(I do too have sense of humor, it is just that I don't find you funny, the last post excepted. It was uncharacteristically clever of you)
Posted by: DugoutNut on December 22, 2005 09:42 PMDitto. Mikey Webb is definitely an idiot. As proof I submit any five minutes of his radio talk show (unless he keeps his mouth shut for the entire five minutes, which is not likely).
Posted by: otto on December 22, 2005 09:46 PMIf true, I hope Kiro finds a good replacement.
Posted by: Andy on December 22, 2005 09:52 PMApparently he can't defraud his way out of a paper bag.
Posted by: thr33of4 on December 22, 2005 10:33 PM
That said, it seems perfectly reasonable to me that his insurance company made a mistake. He's entitled to his day in court.
It is unfair to judge anyone by five minutes of their radio show. After all, by that standard, Sean Hannity is a pittiful lying lackey propagandist who cannot win an arguement unless he talks over someone and controls the mike, and Rush Limbaugh is nothing but a pompous ass in love with his own voice.
Posted by: JDB on December 23, 2005 01:09 AMHannity and Limbaugh have tens of millions of listeners and Mike Webb only has the echo of his own sorry voice spewing the tired "free lunch" rhetoric of the 60's.
Perhaps Webb can take Compton's seat on the Seattle City Council? He'd appear almost normal in that circus.
Posted by: Saltherring on December 23, 2005 05:24 AMAs for the insurance fraud, I wouldn't want to say guilty or innocent, but I can speak from experience in confirming that this kind of insurance fraud happens all the time. It's part of the entitlement mind set: let someone else pay for my misfortune or stupidness. It's not my fault I didn't have insurance.
Dugout: It's mighty fine that you don't mind a nativity on the courthouse lawn as long as a menorah is there. However, the courthouse usually feels the menorah is okie dokie, while the navity is evil. That's what has most of us a little agitated!
Merry Christmas and Happt Hanukah to All!
Posted by: katomar on December 23, 2005 08:23 AMIf true, isn't it a bit odd that Mr. Webb would be going after them?
Just wondering.
Posted by: Army Medic/Vet on December 23, 2005 08:24 AMYOU STILL HAVEN'T ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS, I STAND TO MAKE SOME EXTRA CASH ON YOU, SO IF YOU ANSWER THEM HONESTLY I WILL DONATE HALF TO THE A,C.L.U. IN YOUR NAME.
Posted by: TACOMA PHLASH on December 23, 2005 08:36 AMWhen KIRO comes up for renewal, the public is allowed to testify for or against. Urge the FCC to revoke their broadcast license for allowing this felon to be one the readio.
Posted by: pbj on December 23, 2005 09:30 AMThen I guess you'll happily agree that President Bush is completely innocent of all the charges the Democratic party is claiming, and you'll call for the immediate suspension of calls for impeachment. After all, innocent until proven guilty!
Posted by: Lynnwood Rooster on December 24, 2005 08:35 AMI suppose you're right... Calls for equality and justice are only to be heeded for the Left. So sad, they can't see the timbers in their own eyes...
