It's the density, stupid (II)

And if our urban media weren't so dense in the first place, the biggest story of the year would be that there really was organized fraud in the 2004 election and not that some hick judge was fooled into thinking that there wasn't.

2. Oy. Veh.

I am reminded of the saying, "Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you."

Or, "Just because (the trolls keep telling us) we're paranoid, doesn't mean fraud didn't occur in the 2004 governor's election".

3. SORRY SPELL CHECK ERROR; THAT LAST LINE SHOULD BE WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU SAY EACH MORNING?

4. Some "hick judge" was convinced enough to grant four more votes for our governor after the trial.

'Nuff said.

5. Phlashman: Glassman's essay is a little bit informative but so simplistic as to be pretty much useless( in a historical sense ) in explaining anything. It also suffers from the seeming incapability of conservatives to not inject loads of paranoia and self-pity when describing themselves.

An interesting series of events that occured in rural OK and Kansas in 1917 called the Green Corn Rebellion, for instance, is an event that could never be explained or predicted using Glassman's simplistic theory.

6. I dont call the judge a hick judge. He did an honest ruling. Unfortunately he too reads the laws and as it is written by the powers to be you can never turn over an election. You have to bring the parties guilty of a Felony to Say they are guilty of a felony. They would only take the Fifth amendment. The bar was high because the law stated what needed. He did not write the law. It is politicians protecting their turf. We need a complete overhaul of the election system. No mail in ballots except on a case by case situation. Only then will be have a chance at getting honest results. Voter fraud was the number one story. The number two story would be the coverup done by Democrats and their appointees. The number 3 story is that the press could not lift a finger to do any investigation instead they would take Democrats word and condemn the Republicans for bringing up the corruption and the voting fraud.

7. Yes, it was a hick judge. That's the ticket. Couldn't be at all that the GOP put on a terrible case because they had no evidence, could it? No, you all could never be wrong, so it must have been the judge that the GOP handpicked. And we know he is a hick because he doesn't have a nice BIAW financed house on Greenlake.

Yes, it all makes sense now.

8. So, scholars, what say you to the Green Corn Rebellion and how it refutes your notions of a staunchly conservative American yeomanry?

You guys are idiots. Not one of you could pass a graduate level course in American History. Calling people names won't get you a passing grade.

9. It's YOUR stupidity and density , Stefan. I've proved your childish thesis to be a crock and your response is just to move on and keep repeating your density argument. Which is no longer "just your opinion". It is now a lie, because you know better. I showed you better.

The Green Corn Rebellion, a Historical fact, disproves your(Glassman's) theory completely. You are a propagandist and a poor one at that.

10. Winston - The Green Corn Rebellion occurred in August 1917.

Cox's (not Glassman's, as you stated; Glassman is the host of TCS, Cox is the essayist) essay speaks to the impact of technology.

1917 predates the developments he writes about.

Could you explain, specifically, how a pre-technology event invalidates Cox's hypothesis?

12. Judge Bridges was not a hick judge. The Republicans blew this case fair and square because they did not think outside of the box and get say 200 signed affadavits by felons who voted for Gregoire. The Democrats did that - got 5 affadavits from felons who voted for Rossi - and as result received credit for reducing Dino's vote total by 5. It would stand to reason that the Republicans could have reduced Gregoire's total this way, which there was the opportunity to do - they would have caused the election to thrown out. Why wouldn't it have ?

The counsel should have known how flimsy the laws were and developed that strategy. Instead, they focused on circumstantial evidence and a handwaving argument that was convincing, but did nothing to change the outcome - which was what they had to do, That's the way I saw it.

13. To remedy the election law situation, there will have to be a concerted effort by the citizens of this state, because if you think the State Legislature or SOS will anything to change these terrible laws, including voter intent - you are delusional.

When I say concerted effort, I mean well-thought out initiatives supported at a grass roots level which could allow the people to decide - It may be an uphill battle - due to battling the special interests. That is the only way to bring about this needed change. Face it, the politicians currently in power are not looking out for us and won't until they are forced to.

14. KS,

I tend to agree with your assessment of the Borders v. Democrat Party case although for somewhat different reasons. The irresponsible thing Bridges did was to say that there was "no evidence," of fraud when that was simply not true. There is quite a difference between "no evidence," and not enough evidence. All this did was to provide ammunition for those who cannot tell the truth about anything unless it happens to make them look good. Principles mean nothing to these people-just win at all cost. It would be quite different if the "tables were turned," but that can never happen because conservatives and liberals are substantively different. To conservatives, principles matter.

"the politicians currently in power are not looking out for us and won't until they are forced to." Democrats won't look out for us even then, because that is not what they are about. They are not about leadership, or even their own constituency-they are about political power and it's consolidation. Liberalism is a broken ideology of fear, dependency, isolation, and economic incontinence. I think it will take something mush more drastic and fateful to break this lockdown.

Well-thought out initiatives are no longer useful because the electorate is dumbed down, inured to reality, and prone to make decisions out of fear. I-912 was a well thought out and throughly responsible initiative that was defeated by outright lies from a media campaign largely paid for with the taxpayers own money. Not one single point made in the Gregoire campaign against I-912 was true. Nevertheless, people bought the bull$hit out of fear, and they will misconstrue the consequences of the defeat of I-912 and vote FEAR the next time as well. They will only change when they get hurt badly enough that it becomes worth it to them to change.

You make good points. I wish I saw a clearer way out of this mess we are in, but I live in a community dominated by liberals. They will inevitably fail because they are wrong and corrupt, it's just a matter of whether the electorate is hurt badly enough to discern the real reasons for the failure. If they do, they will elect Dino Rossi and a majority Republican State legislature. If not, we'll get a lot more of the same.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

15. Good points, Amused. The Republicans had better start planning their strategy and would suggest something similar to the Contract for America, successfully implemented by the Repubs in 1994. However, new Repub. leadership and messengers will probably be required if it is to succeed. It will take that type of solid plan effectively communicated to break through to the dumbed down Seattle electorate.

If Dino Rossi does not run for Governor in 2008, may I suggest Rob McKenna, current AG - either one will give the former AG and acting Gov. all that they can handle and likely more ! Happy New Year..
