City Council Member Charged For Allegedly Dealing Coke

A Union Gap, Washington city council member, Dale Glaspey, has been arrested for allegedly selling cocaine to an undercover informant. And that's not all that's been happening in Union Gap politics, not by a long shot.

1. Apparently Union Gap council members don't get paid enough.

2. The council and the town have never been known for their brains. So its no surprise they like to fry them.

5. sgmmac, We're showing our age by understanding the Gary Pucket quip! BTW, according to his web site - no, I don't get the fan letter :-) - Gary now lives in Clearwater, FL.

6. It wasn't a quip. It was a wisecrack, sir or ma'am.

9. Winston Smith, from the Oxford English Dictionary, v3.1:

quip, n.
1. A sharp or sarcastic remark directed against a person; a clever gird or hit. In later use also without implication of sharpness: A clever, smart, or witty saying; a verbal conceit.

wisecrack, colloq. (orig. U.S.)
A clever, pithy witticism or remark. Also as quasi-adj.

Your remark was not directed at a person, thus may not technically qualify as a quip, and I'll grant you it was clever, therefore, wisecrack is a bit more accurate.

pun, n.
a. The use of a word in such a way as to suggest two or more meanings or different associations, or the use of two or more words of the same or nearly the same sound with different meanings, so as to produce a humorous effect; a play on words.

Your comment suggested two meanings of "Union Gap" and produced a humorous effect, so my vote is to classify your remark as a pun.

BTW, do you still drink gin and dream of rats?

10. You're right Joseph......I saw them in person -
at Disneyland. I bet he can still sing, but he needs to get out of Clearwater fast, they kill old people there.

11. sgmmac, I didn't see them live, but did like the songs, and Gary has a great voice. If you take a look at his website, he still tours. He recently released a CD too, so he's still in the biz. BTW, he's not old, he's our age :-) and I refuse to get "old!"

12. I used to have their albums...... I too am refusing to believe that I am getting old!!!
I will be a grandmother anyday and I still can't believe it. I am trying to find a good name for my grandson to call me other than grandma!

Might I suggest "Nana", it softens the blow, according to my wife.
