1. Finkbeiner, in addition to being a total ass of a person, was one of the genius 7 or so GOP'ers who made the gas tax possible. Let's hope he loses his seat next year.
2. Finkbeiner, in addition to being a total ass of a person, was one of the genius 7 GOPers who helped make the gas tax happen. I for one hope he loses his Senate seat next time out.
3.
-- from the Tri City Herald on the gas tax
The Senate approved the plan 26-22 with the help of seven Republicans, including Walla Walla Sen. Mike Hewitt and Ephrata Sen. Joyce Mulliken, one of the Legislature's most conservative members.
4. Way to go, dudes. Just make sure this one's not gay. Don't diss Finkbeiner, don't want him switching parties again, do ya?
5. Just so everyone knows, Joe Zarelli is one of the notables on the list of the DIRTY GOP SEVEN TRAITORS who gave us the gas tax. Great, one of them is now the head GOP honcho. How utterly depressing. Sounds like the public daylight sodomy of the taxpayers will commence once again, with GOP cooperation, in January in Olympia. Thanks, Joe Z, from your SW WA constituents.
6. Well, if you want Finkbeiner out field an electable candidate in the primary. Until then how about we quiet down on the "traitor" comments huh?
7. Dudes, show Sen. Finkbeiner some respect. I don't agree with him on every issue (there are few people that I agree with on every issue), but I've met him on a few occasions and he's a decent guy and a class act and has helped advance a lot of issues that Republicans care about. There are more gentlemanly and effective ways to express disagreement with someone who is on the same side of issues far more often than not.
8. No wonder few Republicans get elected here - with the in-fighting amongst their own. Doesn't seem like there is much tolerance for taking a stand different from the staunch conservatives - look at the whole package before judging.
We all know left-wing nuts have little or no tolerance for opinions/views different from their own - so it might help to heed that.
9. Why show Finkbeiner, Hewitt et al any respect at all, when in the end, the NINE CENT gas tax will produce no improvement in traffic flow, waste stupendous dollars on toy trains, bike lanes, and squirrel brigdes, etc.
And all the GOP had to do last session was uniformly vote no, and the gas tax would not exist because of the solid NO Dem votes. Go along, get along and SAVAGE the taxpayers. Pantywaists.
The biggest ripoff in state history deserves no respect whatsoever.....
10. Tolerance is one thing but Loyalty seems to be an Un-learned language to some of the gop. The loyalty to those who put you there. How about being up front in their campaigning and admitting you will vote for a tax increase. See if you get to Olympia saying something like that. Decent guy my aching butt Stephan. Hey, is that a phillips or standard screw he stuck in my back??
11. Spelling error...Stefan. As agent Smart said "Sorry about that chief"
12. Looks like more of the same breed! Warmed over Democrats!
13. RINO's (Republicans in name only) are bad - politicians that don't walk their talk are a dime a dozen and are why people don't trust Government. I did not advocate giving them a pass - I was trying to say that Repubs. need to communicate more clearly about their dislikes and likes. Hate to say it, but Dems still have the edge in communication - a good amount of that is thanks to the MSM.
14. Chill out people. Let's support this gent and kick Gregoire around. Besides, who wants an opposition to her?
I heard a lot of screams and "YEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!"s!!!
Let's retake Olympia!!!
15. Trust me, the other two candidates who looked to replace Finkbeiner are far, far worse than Sen. Hewitt.
By a long shot.
16. I know Mike Hewitt, I think he's a fine choice. He ran his own business for many years, and if there's one thing we need in our political leadership it's an understanding of spending and cash flow that comes from the private sector.
17. Finkbeiner also was the only republican to vote for the stem-cell bill. what a leader.
we should field a candidate who represents OUR views not just another RINO.
it will be interesting to see how Finkey votes on the gay rights bill this session. i heard he only voted against it due to heavy pressure from his caucus. that could be the final straw for me if he "flip-flops" on this issue.
i wish Dino was still there to show some REAL leadership.
18. Ran his own bussiness that does help alright,I would like to find out more about him.
