RTFM

Ron Sims was on the Mike Siegel Show yesterday and made a number of hilariously incorrect statements. For example, when Siegel asked him about the fact that King County has thousands of duplicate voter registrations, which have led to double voting, Sims claimed that if an already registered voter submits a second registration form, staff are required by state law to accept both registrations. He also said that it is against the law for staff to simply eliminate duplicates, that only the voter can cancel one of their own duplicate registrations. But That is simply not true.

Here are a few sample pages from the King County Elections voter registration procedures manual. It shows that if the registration entry clerk determines that a new registration form is a duplicate, the correct procedure is to apply any new information from the new form to the old registration. The problem in King County is not that there are no procedures to eliminate duplicate registrations. It is that the procedures were not always followed.

3. After watching as many Sims interviews this year as I can stomach, it appears his strategy is to tell whopping blatant lies (that the average person would have to research to prove false)in a very convincing manner.

By the time his opponent has done the research like in this post, the interview is long over and the sheep believe him and his opponents fail to gain the upper hand.

Since MSM seem to be useless as anything other than talking heads (TV) or stenographers/editorialists (Print) he's gotten away with it.

4. It seems democrat voters only expect accountability and truth from the Bush administration.

Everyone else gets a free pass to spin whatever lies are convenient to win an election.

5. Unlike vending machines paid to dispense only what limited button selections are offered, intelligent human beings are able to think beyond a perfunctory of responses. Until staff are confident their actions to perform in a common sense manner will not attract hostile criticism or even the possibility of prosecution, the effects of political correctness at the expense of ascertaining the truth will continue to be suffered.

6. I will still say that some King County voter who can demonstrate some damages from the election (i.e. a candidate who ran for office and barely lost, or a voter whose vote was thrown out and had some resulting damage) should file a civil court lawsuit against Sims, Logan and the County Council claiming fraud.

These KC officials have repeatedly told the public that voting problems have been fixed when in fact they have not been fixed.

People have relied upon these false statements from officials who have a fiduciary duty to the public.

Those officials knew or should have been reasonably expected to have known that the statements (aka Spin) they were making that things were fixed were in fact false statements designed to mislead the public.

It sure sounds like fraud to me.

7. I listened to part of the session.
Sims didn't speak like a man running for office.
He spoke like a man who knows he has won already.
He did't offer the bravado of someone in the last week before an election.
He spoke as one who knew his people would find the votes.

I've said it before, the Dems by at least 5 point, and it will be declared a ratification for their policies and clear evidence that election reforms are working.

8. Diogenes, you won't find that one honest man if you keep listening to Sims!

9. Ron Sims is a total lying jackass... but on-air he's a very smooth-talking and convincing lying jackass, and that's all that matters. The average voter is a dunce that knows next to nothing about election issues.

10. Most of the people posting here aside from Claire seem to think that these guys are just a bunch of screw-ups.

Just because Simms makes President Bush look like a polished wordsmith and Logan's crew continues to disenfranchise the rest of the state does not mean they are incompetent.
In fact, they are very effective in delivering elections to the dems when they are called on.
In my opinion, these guys are not clowns; they seem to be pretty good at what they do. The fact that the papers and suits on TV and every branch of law enforcement gives them a pass makes it pretty tough to stop them.
The rest of the State needs to realize that a voter can register 2 or more times in King County and will have every vote counted. Why this does not bother even the liberal news hounds in Spokane, Wenatchee and elsewhere is pretty amazing.

I'm am not a professional debater, nor have I played one on TV, but imagine how effective it would be if the GOP challenger to Sims boned up on the relevant portions of state law and county procedures so that he could quote chapter and verse when Sims opens his mouth. Has Irons done his homework? I hope so. Time is short.

Posted by: swatter on November 3, 2005 09:49 AM
16. I suppose there ARE NO procedures to eliminate duplicate registrations because they want as many duplicates as possible.
It occurs to me that all this TV and radio advertising they've been doing telling people to contact KCE with changes in information (moved, etc.) is going to produce astonishingly high record numbers of duplicate ballots in King County. And therefore record numbers of double voters. It gets more and more clear how KCE determines the outcome of statewide elections.

23. I got very upset when I read this article. If there ever was proof about a "culture work ethic" in place in King County Elections, this is it!

There is a slim possibility that Logan was honest once upon a time when he first began to work for Sims. It's clear that Sims has corrupted the whole elections department with his twisted logic of how to enforce Washington State laws. It is also entirely possible that Logan got a visit on the 17th from one of Sims' henchmen telling him to count those unregistered "fatal pends." If you believe that Ron Sims doesn't have his hand dipped deeply into the elections department, think again.

Sims is the worst kind of leader, he uses rules, regulations, and laws to gain power for personal gain. What better way to disenfranchize the entire state than to flood the system with as many illegal ballots as possible?

It is sickening that everyone wrings their hands, looks the other way and claims it isn't their job to fix anything. Sam Reed can't do anything, Rob McKenna is powerless, the MSM won't report on it, and no-one cares except a few highly intelligent conservatives who see the system for what it is.

The entire state is being held hostage to King County and Ron Sims. We may as well all stop voting, because our votes clearly are diluted by thousands of felons, dead people rising from the grave, illegal aliens, unregistered voters, and uber-lib double voting elitist who think it's their right to vote early and vote often while they laugh about it drinking their lattes!

The rooster is definitely guarding his hen house!

25. Ron and Dean should have a whole chapter devoted to them in Peter Schweizer's new book "Do as I say" which has now soared to the top of amazon's rank of all books sold.

Ron runs around in a limosine while he tells us to conserve and use his Sound Transit to get to work.

Christine has a new Cadillac and two SUV's at her disposal, no Sound ransit there.

Ron and Dean keep telling us that the election department is fixed, but massive errors are still happening and trying to be covered up.

Maybe Al Frankin can come clean up the Election department for Ron.

26. Misty

It is way past time for this state to develop a form for voters to 'CHANGE' their voting information.......

Why isn't there a CHANGE form?

Posted by: sgmmac on November 3, 2005 10:37 AM
27. sgmmac, you are so right. A change form would be so simple, yet they couldn't come up with the idea. The way they're currently doing it and having all those commericals, THEY CAN LOOK LIKE THEY'RE TRYING TO FIX THINGS WHILE CREATING EVEN MORE OF THE SAME THING THEY'VE BEEN PULLING by simply creating a new registration for changes. Brillant. But positively evil...

30. "Sims didn't speak like a man running for office."

No...He spoke more like someone trying to defend himself......over and over and over again....

His voice has lost it's bravado. His face looks haggard and strained in his campaign commercials..My God..Even his wife is glaring at him in one commercial! He looks about in tears...

This is not a man who is confident about his position right now.....

31. I think that King Sims has taken truth-telling lessons from Al Franken and Bagdad Bob. His puppet vote counter - Dean Logan has also be learning from them.

Another thing - Sims will once again use putrid political correctness to stifle any mention of Merry Christmas - instead Happy holidays, promoting the fascistic ACLU agenda. This is reason enough to vote out the bum ! David Irons will hopefully bring back the mention of Christmas to the upcoming holiday season and less of the PC bilge.
