Irons trounces Sims
The best half hour of television you'll see this week is the King County Executive candidate debate between David Irons and Ron Sims on KING-5 Upfront with Robert Mak.
In all fairness, Ron Sims is more glib than David Irons is. But after nine years of having a charismatic storyteller filling in for the County Executive, it's time to hire a person for the job who will take responsibility and get things done and that person is clearly David Irons.
Sims' strangest self-contradictions came at 14:20 when he bitch-slapped his #1 fan: "It offends me", Sims said, referring to the blog whose writer admitted to consulting with Sims' campaign manager before posting an exploitive expose about David Irons' elderly mother.
Ron Sims' closing comments:
The important thing this election is: you can't run away from your record ... the buck stops with me. It always has and I'm willing to do that
I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Ron Sims
explains all this to the FBI.

1. Yeah, Goldy's posts on Irons have done more of a disservice to Sims by associating Sims with trailer-trash, mud slinging tactics. On the other hand, Sims campaign director promised the mud would fly. Either way, not a lot of smart political moves coming from the Sims camp. It will be quite satisfying if Goldy ends up helping defeat Sims, despite his best efforts. Sims should have known better than to associate with a fool like Goldy.
2. So, how exactly did Irons "trounce" Sims?
3. I didn't see the trounce. I thought Sims edged him out.
4. it is interesting to note that Carolyn Edmonds tried the same lame transportation attack in the district 1 race and it worked against her as well.
The only thing that is proven by this is that Sims is running scared and desperate.
5. Ron Sims says he takes responsibility for Elections. But sees nothing wrong. So who is lying Ron Sims or Stefan with his research. If Ron Sims takes responsibility why does he prevent data from being released. He is ultimately responsible right. SO corruption in the elections process is his responsibility.
He hired the people and keeps firing people that is how he takes responsibility. They were not allowed to spend much time on the subject and no hard questions for Ron to answer. Just the standard Dance around the subject.
But asking questions on the attacks on David Irons Businesses he worked in. And Ron says I saved the county from bankruptcy. All his changes he has made in the last year or so to make himself look good. I guess he forgot about the Fed Tax cuts that help increase local tax revenue because more money was made available to make local purchases. Therefore all states have seen a rise in revenues into their coffers.
Boy was he attacked and heavy handed questions to David Irons on the subject of his Parents. The gloves are on for Ron and off for David.
Ron brings up Martin Luther King. Comparing himself to Martin Luther King I was going to be a minister. Yet no answer on the question of giving promotions to those that caused The county to face law suits. That is one subject I was not familar with.
What about selling Brains? That was under his watch and I never came up. Another lawsuit against a KC Group. I would like to know how much did KC spend on Lawyers every year and How much tax payer money was used to pay off problems caused by employees of KC? But I guess that is the cost of government. But it would be interesting to see the cost by year for the past 50 years compare to Precentage of the Budget. Also which cases that were due to Council rulings or Ron Sims Decisions. IE what is the cost to the taxpayers to take the land from rural citizens. Property rights which is a constitutional right.
6. It was "choice"!
Every time Ron Sims tried his "excuse me, excuse me" interruption tactic - David Irons was right there with the facts and (finally) the IMPORTANT questions on Sims record of failure as King County Executive...
David Irons is not usually a forceful speaker. In the past - he's seemed a bit timid or easily flustered...whereas - Ron Sims used to have a fake preacher's cadence that he used when he was trying to sell his crappy policies to the public....But tonight.....I saw something very much out of the ordinary....
Ron Sims was on the defensive...and really not on his game at all....David Irons was ready and did not let Ron Sims get away with anything.. I think Irons confidence tonight really threw Sims off.
The usual trolls here must be down right embarrassed for their boy Sims! (probably to the point that they will deny they ever had an interest in him...snicker..)
7. "Yet no answer on the question of giving promotions to those that caused The county to face law suits. That is one subject I was not familar with."
David A,
I think what David Irons was referring to was Sim's invitation and encouragement to the Gay community to sue the county and the state to get the gay marriage laws changed...
In that - Ron Sims promoted law suits against the county for the benefit of a special interest group. Encouraging anyone or any group to sue the county is an invitation to spend our tax dollars on litigation. This should have had him thrown out of office.
8. "I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Ron Sims explains all this to the FBI."
Stefan?
Did they finally come out of their coma?
9. Deborah is right about Sims inviting the gay marriage lawsuit. Pat Novotny (lawyer for the gay couples) told me that to my face. Sims was actually shopping around for someone to sue the county on this matter.
Sims is a phony - and, under color of law, he's a thief, whether or not it's your ballot, your land, or your brain.
If the county honestly re-elects him... that's their crime, and also their punishment. -YGCM
10. I've emailed at least a dozen people tonight with a request to investigate the election fraud and coverup in KC elections. The real crime may be getting ready to happen on Nov 8th. Sims needs Logan to insure he stays in office and Logan definitely needs Sims to keep his overpaid job! Logan needs to be in jail!
11. I really wish David Irons had cited several of Stefan's revelations about the Election Dept. as examples of why if he wins the Election, Dean Logan will be FIRED!!!!!!!!!!
If Sims wins===============Logan keeps his job.
If Sims loses==============Logan is FIRED!!!
If David Iron wins=========Logan is FIRED!!!
In addition, David has to be careful about not going too much further in his attacks and attitude towards Sims.
Last night was PERFECT!!
If David can repeat that until November 8th, he will sway a lot of undecided voters.
Sims was flustered, baffled and disoriented.....Sims is not used to someone calling BS on him for 1/2 hour. Sims is not used to having someone challenge his statements....or should I say LIES and HALF-TRUTHS!
I really liked how Irons handled the transportation issue too. I KNEW in advance Sims would try to attack David on I-605. David calmly said he clearly believes we must look at ALL options and then IMMEDIATELY put Sims back on the defensive.
Keeping Sims on the defensive, defending the indefensible Election, CAO and transportation issues is brilliant.
David needs to continue to firmly and consistently keep the pressure and ACCOUNTABILITY right there.
After all, Sims did say the buck stops with Sims, right??
OK David....call Sims on his smug, predictable line and MAKE the buck stop with Sims!!!!!!!!!
After all, Sims invited the BUCK to stop with him.
That means, Vote for Irons...not Sims.
What other way to stop the BUCK is there?
12. I also loved watching Sims take down his morally and ethically bankrupt Blogmeister, David Goldstein!! I loved how Irons kept calling him GOLDY!!!
What a great move. GOLDY???
What grown man with any credibility would be known as GOLDY with a blog called HorsesA$$?????
Sims made Goldy look like a SCHMUCK and a very low-level human being. God, that was funny.
I could just picture Goldy watching this butt-kicking unfold in front of him while he was drinking a glass of white wine and eating a hunk of Brie Cheese as most Seattle LEFTIST PINHEADS tend to do in the evening. I'll bet Goldy dang near threw-up!
13. In fact, Goldy was made to be the Clown Prince of KingCo Politics.
Heretofore, we must refer to David Goldstein as:
GOLDY THE CLOWN!!
14. I didn't see the trounce. I thought Sims edged him out.

I'm not sure how you couldn't. When one candidate is on the defensive the entire time (virtually every characterization of public reaction to his policies used the word "uprising" or "angry") and the other one isn't, that's a trounce.

16. Those that thought sims prevailed over Irons do so only because they favor style over substance (and I use "style" only within its most narrowly defined context). Anyone who would buy what sims has to offer doesn't rate my pity, but does warrant my disgust.
See ya at the polls ;'}
17. Seattle is thought of in the same vein as San Francisco, Madison, Boulder, and anyplace that votes for a Kennedy - too socialist to really give a damn about. So what if Dino had the election stolen from him? The rest of the state isn't worth talking about and Seattle supports Gregoire.
18. When you mention the name- Goldy- are you by chance referring to the Village Idiot from the Clinton book- It takes a Village to make an idiot?
19. Irons and Sims are going to be answering questions ON-LINE on Tuesday from Noon-1 p.m.
To submit a question go to seattletimes.com/simsironsQA. Gee I wonder how much editing is going to be done on the Questions? Maybe if they allowed us to watch live, without the spin it would be worth it.
20. it is interesting to note that Carolyn Edmonds tried the same lame transportation attack in the district 1 race and it worked against her as well.
The only thing that is proven by this is that Sims is running scared and desperate.
21. One negative comment I have about the debate is that Robert Mak refused to allow the Green Candidate a seat at the table. Mak gave a flowery disclaimer at the conclusion, but bottom line is, the Green Candidate was excluded. And of course, you have to wonder, which of the two mainstream candidates would benefit most from this decision?
I gotta believe promoting Greens would hurt Sims. Wouldn't you agree?
22. Yes, it looks like the boss is now distancing himself from his little mudslinger David (aka "The Liar" aka "The Censor" ) Goldstein.
23. Yes, Dave Irons Jr. did really well in that debate. Good TV. I just loved it when Sims was addressing the race card-dealing against fellow Dem Christine Gregoire and accusations that his campaign manager MIGHT JUST POSSIBLY have worked with the Horse's Behind blog to get down and dirty. He looked all pretend-offended at the notion that he could be accused of slinging mud, even though there's evidence that he did.
PLEASE, vote for David Irons. I'm so tired of the abuse of power we've have with Sims.
24. WHOA Misty,
You may want a mother abusing, industry destroying, demonstrably lying, Kemper Freeman loving, asphalt loving, maniacal guy with no record of anything postive...but for the rest of us, we'll pass, thank you very much.
25. WhoaMisty - No , you misunderstand, we don't want sims....(I didn't know sims loved Kemper!)
26. WhoaMisty: Did you vote for Bill Clinton??? Are you aware that Juanita Broddrick has leveled a very credible accusation of rape against him (and didn't sound crazy doint it??)? Are you aware that he stole 900+ FBI files to use the information against his 'enemies'? Are you aware that he sold off the knowledge to the communist chinese of how to send nuclear missiles our way? AND YOU VOTED FOR THAT GUY????
27. ..and furthermore WhoaMisty--you complain about "asphalt-loving" people? If you are voting NO on I-912 then you are WITH the asphalt-pavers. Personally, I have nothing against them, but you seem to. So I assume you're voting yes on I-912. Kemper Freeman has more competence and executive ability in his pinky than 'ol Sims does.
28. Whoa Misty,
I-912 was supported by 1/3 the republicans in the state house. Its a user fee...remember you guys are for that.
Kemper Freeman wants a politician that is bought and paid for -- and will do his bidding. If the mother-abusing Irons win, we'll get just that. Just like the NRA trumpted how "they own the white house" once Bush got appointed president.
Let Freeman run. He's too smart to do that. Much better to pay off politicians (check out the website of Connie Marshall's opponent in Bellevue...she's a big Freeman supporter and reciever of funds...check out what she did as a result).
Clinton is/was a slime ball. Who said I was old enough to vote when he was running?
29. "Who said I was old enough to vote when he was running?"
No one.
Your reasoning skills need a tune-up. May I suggest sobriety....
30. If you are Republican and really want your vote to count, you will have to move out of King County.
31. Whoamisty!!!
"Who said I was old enough to vote when he was running?"
I would place a bet that you weren't!!! That also means you have a whole lot of growning up to do.....
No offense intended. But it usually takes about 40 years before you really mature, and quit judging others with a fine point pen.
32. I had to chuckle. Sims selling brains out of
King Co.
33. "Who said I was old enough to vote when he was running" Well who said you weren't? Go ahead and tell us how old you are.
And tell us you're voting YES on I-912, since you claim to hate asphalt-pavers. Go on, we're waiting......
34. ..and if 1/3 of Republicans voted for I-912, that means 2/3 of them didn't. As in, most of them were against it. Most Democrats were FOR it.
35. Misty,
I think "WhoaMisty" is a confused liberal. He/she/it doesn't realize that there is a difference between the I912 INITIATIVE and the TAX BILL that it will repeal.
He/she/it says "I-912 was supported by 1/3 the republicans in the state house. Its a user fee..." I912 was NOT voted on in the state house by either Republicans or Democrats. It won't be voted on until November 8. It is also not a user fee since it will repeal the gas tax that the legislature enacted.
Bill H
36. Hello. Good job David Irons, but if the King 5 poll is correct, I suggest that David Irons Jr, take the lie detector test too. Short of that the moonbats win. David will be relegated to hasbeen status and we as a party will be forever remembered as the one who put up a "motherbeater" as a candidate. David take the LDT from the same guy. Clear your good name NOW!
David do you get it? The Sh^tmeister Goldy has stuck a fork in you and your advisors are screwing the pooch BIGTIME! Get out there and prove your innocence! Not only will you get your name back but you will again command the agenda. Eventhough you smoked Ron Sims, public perception is the rule of the day. The MSM will not help you.
37. Getting a cleared polygraph pull the rug out from the bad negative. And proves the other side is lieing.
38. The FBI only investigates interstate crime.
............ho hum...........
39. ......ho hum.......this is all so droll.......ho hum.......ho hum........
Apache Frog-
I'm so sorry that all of our naive rantings are so boring to your elitist sensabilities. We just ain't smart enough to keep you entertained. Your a jacka$$, which means that you're posting on the wrong blog.
40. Apache Fog, good name for you considering you appear to always be in a fog! Your boredom is your choice! Why don't you slither like a snake over to goldy's website if your so bored Hmm...
41. Irons did indeed trounce Sims Stefan is correct!!
Also Gentry Lang ended up with 7% of the vote gee, any guesses who that will affect?!
42. The FBI is going to interview Sims?
Stephan's bizarre delusions and hilarious conspiracy theories are really starting to get the best of him! I can't wait until he finally cracks for good.
Nice to see right wing paranoia also has the SP sheep / cheer squad convinced that Sims was behind Goldstein's revelations about David Irons' extreme character flaws. Never mind the fact the local Issaquah newspaper reported the exact same story...two years ago! I'm sure the Sims campaign collaborated with that media outlet too, right guys?
As for Irons' showing in that debate: the constant squinting & blinking really inspired me!
43. The FBI will also investigate interstellar crime. The truth is out there.
44. Gee, Our trolls are so enlightened that's what happens when you use your bongs too many times!! Tends to make things a bit foggy!
