Double Voter du Jour

Here's a voter who cast both an absentee and a provisional ballot where both were counted.

The voter was 84 years old in 2004 and can be forgiven if he cast a second ballot because of a memory lapse. But the elections staff should have caught this one. They had to know that he had already cast an absentee at the time they counted his provisional. The green 10/20/04 written in the upper right of the provisional envelope proves that someone looked him up in the database and noted that his absentee ballot was returned and accepted on that date. And they counted the provisional ballot anyway!

This is not an isolated example.

2. I know it hasn't been well-publicized, but can't something be done with all the County's databases?

If we can get tons of information from Google searches and others, why can't inputting numbers or names provide a much better system? Names, addresses, deaths, births, marriages, etc. could all be tied into the election database. If the address don't fit, then check if it is a real address.

My word, the property tax people and licensing bureau don't miss a beat when it comes to generating income. Same could go for felons.

Hasn't been talked about here or the press, so it is either real easy or the computers are too old.

3. And the $1000.00 question: which govenor did he vote for twice? Have you difinitively proven that King County Fraud kept Rossi out of the govenor's mansion?

4. "And the $1000.00 question: which govenor did he vote for twice? Have you difinitively proven that King County Fraud kept Rossi out of the govenor's mansion?"

Who the illegal vote went to is not the point so much as an illegal vote effectively disenfranchises a legal vote somewhere else. It could be on either side, and that's why everyone should be concerned with these illegal votes. I don't see why that seems to be so hard to understand.

5. Swatter, you are completely missing the point. King County taxpayers paid for a computer system, and it worked. The elections worker processing the provisional ballot found the absentee voter in the database. She knew this voter had already voted. But where did the provisional ballot go? There is no amount of money and no computer system that can guard against fraud like this. Don't you get it? Why was the 2nd ballot processed? Duh!? God!

6. Mr. Finn, get a grip.

Are you also saying that Logan on purpose counted the ballot with the address in the middle of Lake Union? Are you saying that Logan had the people count all the felons?

All I am saying is that it should be a simple solution to tie all this into one database.

Sure, Rossi lost the election from sloppy handling of the ballots. Fraud? It wasn't proven.

It shouldn't have been that close of an election.

And I agree with Sims that the accuracy of the election counting was good but there was no reason it couldn't be better.

7. Dan,

Riddle me this - From your response - you think Gregoire won the election fair and square, right? What if every mishandled ballot really WAS for Rossi? That would mean that Gregoire won by more than 2,000 votes, which means we never needed any recounts.

And who paid for the recounts? The taxpayers of Washington State. So under your interpretation of the election results - Dean Logan's department cost WA taxpayers MILLIONS OF DOLLARS because of their ineptitude, incompetence, and poor training.

And this is okay with you? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

8. Swatter, I can't quite tell if you are arguing for me or against me. However, I do like the salutation Mr. Finn. I appreciate that.

9. I'm sorry, but this is willful fraud perhaps by the voter, and CERTAINLY by KCE for counting it. There's just too many examples of illegally cast ballots to not suggest fraud by KCE. Either that, or they should have had my 13 yr old counting and verifying ballots, because the 13 yr old would have done a better job! These workers are either way beyond incompetent, or they are just plain corrupt and willfully count every ballot that comes in, even if the person has illegally voted or is not even properly registered. There IS fraud going on at KCE. What else can you call it, when it is so blatant?

10. Michelle,.... I think swatter's point is it is only a little bit of fraud, and we have no reason to be upset by that. Have I got that right, swatter? No, wait, swatter thinks election workers counting known 2nd ballots is not fraud. I guess that might make sense.

Posted by: huckleberry on October 11, 2005 04:18 PM
11. Finn, fraud wasn't proven and the Rs had every chance in the world to prove it.

I don't think you can get fraud till you get a Gangs of New York voting situation.

But finn, isn't the whole exercise Stefan is going through (and as frustrating as it can be) to get the powers that should be to get the errors fixed? There are no recommendations that I can see being forthcoming to solve the various problems that have us all upset. And this green card thing shouldn't have been allowed to happen but the Rs didn't see a problem with it. (Ed. note: by Rs, I mean the party, not individuals like Michelle who is right on this).

13. "Finn, fraud wasn't proven and the Rs had every chance in the world to prove it.",/i>

Swatter,

That's the most absurd conclusion I've read yet about what transpired in the aftermath of last November's election! How can you honestly say that the Republicans "had every chance in the world to prove fraud"? There was so much stonewalling from King County and the Secretary of State's office with respect to election records, ballots, felon information, etc...The Republicans were denied access to the most damning of evidence and the little bits they were given during the trial were so fragmented - they couldn't complete a picture.. Much of the evidence of fraud is just NOW being released to Stefan by way of public disclosure laws! And these were received only after Stefan threatened to sue!

Every chance in the world?? Hah! Not in my world.

14. Hey hey stop stop the the crap crap.

15. You're all forgetting, its only fraud if a Republican wins, even if its by 150,000.

Posted by: Dave on October 11, 2005 09:46 PM
16. Heh, Dave, too true! The only fraud in the whole '04 election was in...Ohio, right????? But everything was cleeeeean as a whistle in King/Enron County, right? Hey--Mrs. Gregoire said so; a model to the rest of the world, even.
Yah, whatever.

17. Michele >> who's that Mrs Fraudoire you are mentioning??-- I vaguely remember hearing about her -- been laying VEERRRY low down there in the flats lately - wonder what's up (hatching)??? -- laying low til after the election if you ask me

18. Bill, she does most of her damage behind the scenes. She is in the process now of increasing construction costs on roads as we speak. It was the person she put in touch with practitioners and experts who almost all unanimously disagree with her science with respect to making drainage facilities even more expensive.

So, Deborah, is there a time limit to prosecute, criminally, fraud? If not, go for it. How about civilly? The Rs won't take you up on that.

And Deborah, even a hand-picked judge didn't force the County to produce those documents. But, is there enough stuff coming out now to justify a lawsuit? I don't see the papers following Stefan's research, yet. Until he can show more intent, nothing is going to happen.

19. Bill.....She is running around in her Caddy. TNT had a article about other state Gov.'s trading in their SUV's for fuel economy vehicles. But not Chrissy.....She loves her 2005 Caddy, and the two suburbans' at her disposal.....

What a Waste................

22. Roscoe...

I forgot to mention that the lease/month is like $900 on the Caddy... the Suburbans are like $800/mo. That is $2,500/month for the Gov to drive around, and gas guzzlers at that....

Why cant she take public transportation.

Jeezzzz

We are still waiting!!

24. Hey Chris: Mrs. Gregoire could buy an '00 Honda Odyssey for about $15,000 and would make up the leasing fees in just 6 months. After that, and until she leaves office in '08, we the taxpayers could save a bunch of money over the next 2 1/2 yrs. $2500/month is waaaaay beyon reason. Why does she need THREE cars? And her hubby Mike can buy his OWN Yugo. Where are her liberal friends complaining about her vast consumption of gasoline?? These people ONLY want everyone else to to drive smaller cars and get fobbed onto public transportation, so they can drive their gas-guzzlers. I personally drive cars that get better mileage than any of her cars (guess that makes me more 'green' than Ms. christine, eh?) . and I paid for them myself.
