1. At least Sims and Gregoire are smart enought to have minions do the counting.
2. SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
3. TACOMA,
Kinda sad when this cr*p fails to suprise anyone.
4. Who knew, Envelope Slicing and Opening Machine operator- Critical Skill, none available in the US Labor Force. Better write a contract-outsource the job to China.
New Self Help book " Winning Elections Made Easy-Count your own Votes"-Only available in Washington State. Get your copy now, tells you exactly who to talk to and what to say.
5. Poor Sam I am. I'll bet he is counting the days until he can hold a Lyndon Johnson-like press conference..."I will not seek, nor will I accept..."
6. What an imbecile the Pierce County auditor is! She deserves to be sued and fired...
I hope the Stipek family is up for the lawsuits that may be launched at them due to their election activities! Sure...there may not be an exact law on the books (doesn't matter in our state anyway...You know - the liberal's interpretation would just mess it up!)..but there is a huge conflict of interest here...Not to mention the potential for fraud!
I have this bad feeling... that by posting this story, we just gave Logan the idea to hire Ron Sims to count ballots in November's election! Or maybe he'll just hire his nephew for the job!
sigh....
8. I hope he's 99.98% accurate. Kinda like Congress voting their own pay raises. An 'appearance of independence' nightmare. That crafty kid who always wanted to be the 'banker' in your Monopoly games.
9. The sad thing here is the guy is probably as honest as hell, but the Auditor made the choice, and just like KC, the upper management seem to make all the BAD CHOICES.
How I wished I worked in Public Sector, but it must be pretty boring, not having any "real" responsibilities.
10. Doesn't say much for pierce county or WA. state!
11. Sigh...also not surprised. Further enlightenment regarding the unhealthy condition of our state elections. Unfortunate that so many of our county election officials not only are unaware and/or uncompliant with current election laws, apparently they do not understand that they hold an important office of responsibility and public trust. But appear to run their departments like a weekend card game with bosom buddies and toothpicks, if a player makes a mistake or is caught cheating everybody just laughs and has another beer.
Thurston county sounds great, hope we see more of her in the future and more like her around the state.
12. No no no no no NO!
BAD Pierce County. For an election to be trusted, you have to avoid even the
appearance of impropriety!
Thurston County is fortunate to have somebody that UNDERSTANDS the process, and goes to considerable lengths to make sure it's clean!!
Man, this sure says a lot for the "left coast", doesn't it...
Igor
13. The law would be most effective if it were a disclosure law. The name of any employee working in any capacity in the elections offices who is running for or related in any manner to a candidate should be published by name, job description, the relationship disclosed and explained.
To say that a candidate cannot be hired to open ballots just leaves the auditor free to reassign them to pick up the ballots from the post office, (no, Virginia, the post office does not deliver the ballots), pick up polling machines, test machines, close out the offices at night after everyone else has left, etc. etc.
Cheaters will always find a way, you can't have enough people and enough laws to stop them.
McCarthy runs her office this way for one reason only, because she knows she can. More laws will only cause a slight inconvenience.
14. The guy may be crooked or honest, but he should NOT be counting his own votes! This stinks! Anyone who believes this is okay isn't thinking. Can you imagine what would happen is this guy was a Republican??? The papers would be all OVER it!!! I object!
