RFQ for "Turnaround Team"

Ron Sims has issued a 17-page RFQ for a "Turnaround Team for King County's Elections Office". The accompanying press release says

The team ... will be fully engaged in the cultural, leadership, management and operational issues of King County Elections, and will develop and implement a strategic business plan to improve the performance of the department and regain public trust and confidence. The team will operate independently of current elections staff and will report directly to Executive Sims.
[emphasis added]. But Executive Sims is the cultural and leadership problem.

Why waste $500,000 on a dog-and-pony-show turnaround team when the only turnaround team we need is David Irons.

1. Hiring a hit team is the same as doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result. The time for change is now and the change needs to begin at home. Ron Sims needs to go and David Irons needs to clean up King County government.

2. Why send out an RFQ when Amazon.com has already done the work for Sims? The A-Team. From what I've seen, these guys are amazing!

3. Stefan,

Better not even mention David Irons or Pee Wee "the Censor" goldstein will accuse you of something. He doesn't really care what it is, just some random accusation to hurl your way.

Why is he obsessed with you Stefan? Could it be because he has such a weak debating position he has to censor posts and you do not?

I should think that as the webmaster for Ron Simms, Pee Wee the censor would at least try to behave himself.

4. And what makes you think David Irons will solve King County's election problems? Is this assumption based on any particular expertise Mr. Irons' has or specific proposals he's made? Are you advocating that county executives for all counties that experienced voting problems be voted out of office? Or are simply using the election issues in King County as a political tool to lobby against a sitting Democrat?

5. "they will report directly to Ron Sims"....who will then not do anything with the info...or will cause he's told the team before hand to put out a report that states these "facts" and "solutions". Then it's all good. See I Ron, laws don't hamper me, Sims am a good leader and really, I love 1950's Russia.

8. The only thing I can say is Ron "tax to the max" Sims runs the county in the most inc*stuous manner possible.

He pick the election review board, he picks the Tiger Team, he picks the election director. They report to him. Sims makes Mayor Daily look like a piker.

Is it any wonder the product of such a system is an election with the qualities of the last one.

9. This is really scary now you have a team in the with full access to the elections office that reports only to Ron Sims in a year that Ron is up for election!!!!

They should be called the conflict of interest team.

10. Q: And what makes you think David Irons will solve King County's election problems?

A: Ron Simms has been tasked with cleaning up the elections department since the 2000 election. Dean Logan was supposed to be the one to do that. As a famous democrat once said "The buck stops here." The buck stops with Ron Simms. Otherwise, we will be in the same situation in 2008 that we were in 2004 and 2000.

A:Is this assumption based on any particular expertise Mr. Irons' has or specific proposals he's made?

A: To make the Elections Office accountable to the people, David Irons introduced a charter amendment in January 2005 for an elected, non-partisan auditor to run our elections. This would establish in King County the same system that Washington’s 38 other counties already have.

Q: Are you advocating that county executives for all counties that experienced voting problems be voted out of office?

A: No one said that. But is they repeatedly experience the same problems in election cycle after election cycle - they aren't performing. In the case of Ron Simms, his failure to perform is glaringly obvious to even the casual observer.

11. Irons is against I-912. The last thing we need is another RINO in office. He will do no more to help with the elections than Norm Maleng, Rob McKenna or Sam Reed. They are all cut of from the same stock.

Why can't a real Republican run for Executive. Why not Reagan Dunn. He lost at the caucuses anyway, why not go for the Executive seat and give us someone we can be proud of. Not just Ron Sims light, which is all that Irons would ever be.

12. I just saw a member of Sim's Turnaround Team out in the paking lot. I believe it was a collie/shepard mix chasing it's tail.

Seriously, Ron Sim's Turnaround Team is going to be twice as good as any Turnaround Team ever. His will go a whole 360°.

13. "The Dude" is just the latest pseudonym used by the leftist pinhead troll that used to call itself "JDB"

14. Who ever the Dude is...to bad he tries to talk like he is favoring Dunn, he really takes a shot.

"Why not Reagan Dunn. He lost at the caucuses anyway, why not go for the Executive seat and give us someone we can be proud of."

So Dunn, who is a loser and the caucuses prove that, so run for executive and win because GOP/conservative people are proud of losers.

Though I doubt that is what you were trying to convey. You spew such venom normally, your statement is the closest thing to complimentary. Remember as his mommy told him, If you don't have anything intelligent to say to someone, just slander them or call them a racist, homophobe, christian.

15. Thanks Stefan,

I would have swallowed "The Dude's" bait otherwise. I always find it funny that the folks who sling around the RINO term are the ones who are the first to bolt the party whenever anything doesn't go their way 100 percent.

16. Steffy, Baby:

I am perfectly able to post in my own name. Heck, unlike most of the right wing trolls that inhabit this place, I even provide a real email address.

Plus, that doesn't even sound like me. If you are going to blame me for something, let it be something witty, not the normal paranoid wingnut rants your board attracts. Sheesh.

19. Fear not!
The Geek Squad is now available at Best Buy......
Sims could probably get them for a good price - and they would actually run a better election!

snicker..... ;)

Ron Sims IS the problem with King County elections! That *he* is insisting on having authority over some hand picked turnaround team just defeats the entire purpose! Who on earth -will trust ANY outcome of the primary or election this fall? Ron Sims has created a stone-wall around the elections department and will again have complete control over the votes!

Don't use my tax dollars for this farce!

20. biteme/jdb/dupe

You weren't too bright when you were one moron...now you're spreading yourself so thin as to be nothing more than an unpleasant stain.

I would suggest getting professional help, but you would only get yourself into more trouble out on Aurora Ave.......

22. Irons does have a plan for fixing the election office - and he has been explaining it for months. He believes King County should elect the head of elections, like virtually every other election department in the USA. Irons came up with this plan before the "swat" team that Sims is ignorning. Irons has already shown he knows how to aim at a target and hit it - he got the county on a two year budget, reduced the counsel to 9, and lots more. We need him to get elected in November...VOTE IRONS AND STOP THE MADNESS.

23. I agree with Jenny's post with one small addition though, he needs to win by a landslide to out Sims!
