Soviet-Style Election Reform

King County Politburo Chairman Larry Phillips reassures us that "Election Oversight Efforts in High Gear"

USSR Communist Party
General Secretary
Konstantin Chernenko
King County
Politburo Chairman
Larry Phillips
Metropolitan King County Council Chair Larry Phillips said today’s briefing from the three panels investigating the operations of the King County Records, Elections and Licensing Services (REALS) Division should help assure the public that election oversight efforts are in high gear in anticipation of the 2005 elections and beyond.

“The Council today continued its oversight responsibilities for elections, hearing from both citizens and professional election auditors,” said Phillips. “Today’s briefings are a reminder that we need to provide County Elections staff with the tools they need to process and tabulate ballots swiftly and accurately.”

Yes, Comrade Phillips, just give Dean Logan more money and he'll return the favor with the sort of elections you're asking for.

David Irons, on the other hand, isn't buying any of the Sims/Logan/Phillips crap.

1. Speaking of Elections, did anyone else get a Voter Registration Confirmation in the mail? I've moved from King to Sno county since the last election (thank God), and I received mine yesterday (addressed to my previous address).

2. Because after several botched elections, Logan deserves yet another chance.

Larry, I know you and your staff read this blog. If you really want to restore faith, get rid of Logan. He doesn't know how to lead people. Look at the comments from his underlings. They hate him, they hate his open door rhetoric on top of closed door leadership. Get rid of the fool.

I can tell you one thing, we're going to keep the pressure on. Every elected official in King County that stands in the way is going to be called on this stonewalling when it's their turn for reelection. And that includes you Larry. Good luck.

4. The Sno County Auditor is proposing All Mail ballot on Wednesday 2 pm.

What do you think about this move?

sincerely, concerned in Sno County

5. As long as all the mail ballots come to my address, not a problem. Our GOP precinct boss lives across the street and can help us...

Oh wait, we are the ones who are supposed to be above the law...

9. These guys must really be worried. They want "election oversight" alright. It is impossible to vote them out and get real reform as long as they control the elections.

My wife is from the former Soviet Union and often compares our last "election" with the sort of monkey business she thought she had left behind forever.

Don't buy in to the "incompetence" and "cultural problems" spin they are trying to put on all of this. This is bold and shameless fraud.

11. Despicable ! Perverted commie pinko politicians like him will continue to dumb down our culture as long as they keep getting elected.

Enough of that garbage ! Vote for David Irons !

13. Hmmm..."creeping socialism/communism" in King County?

You betcha! Larry Phillips just fits the profile!
(As does Ron Sims, Julia Patterson, Dean Logan, Gossett, Huennekens, etc...)

Looks like the Socialists and Communists of the 1920's are back! (Which is really a shame because Washington State was one of the few states where the people were adamantly against socialist and communist ideals!) Those 2 "ism's" did not last long here in the early years.....and were driven out of our state.....

Apparently, they snuck back in with the Democrat party and have cheated their way into power in our state over the past 2 decades...

What to do?

14. Stefan, as a sympathetic reader of this blog I was surprised to read your Ad Hominem attack on Larry Phillips. Sheesh, who he resembles has nothing to do with who he is. He may have problems, I don't doubt that, but that kind of personal attack does nothing for your argument and really only stoops to the level commonly seen on the other side.

15. TedR--
Phillips deserves whatever ridicule that comes his way. Do you really, truly believe that Phillips (on his own without any insider prompting) found out his ballot wasn't counted.
C'mon Ted...Phillips is one of the insider "Komrades"...NO DOUBT!

16. Mr. Cynical: Again, I am not defending Phillips or his character, but the tactic used by Stefan wasn't necessary. Attack what he says, not his person.

17. TedR?

You are NOT a sympathetic reader of this blog. You are a troll. Your buddy Dan - who posted very much the same script in another thread here - is also a troll.

You guys have got to time your troll attacks better! Or at least try to vary the script a little.....How stupid and transparent!

Now go away and take your buddies with you back to Goldies....

18. Phillips will go after Ronnie boy does!

19. Deborah: I am not a troll, I don't know Dan, and I am definitely not headed to Goldies house. I was attempting constructive criticism. Deborah, get your facts straight before accusing me to be someone I am not. I don't know about this other post, but it is in no way connected to mine. This is the truth, if you choose not to believe it, so be it, however, I am not lying to you.

Furthermore, I ask that you address my argument and not make personal attacks. The personal attacks do nothing for positive dialogue.
