Joel Connelly revised his column about mikemcgavick.com, admitting he fell for it -- "McGavick Web site a spoof".
I managed to save the original column, posted here.
We all make mistakes. Even, occasionally, those of us who don't have layers of editors reviewing our work.

Posted by: BananaLand(aka Iguana) on July 28, 2005 12:16 AMDon't worry about it!
McGavik probably isn't the person for the job anyway.....
However, if you pull this crap with a reputable candidate.......you will find yourself writing about aliens for the National Enquirer....(which actually may be a promotion for you..)
Posted by: Deborah on July 28, 2005 12:19 AM"With a loyal liberal following, McDermott has taken some liberties with the truth...
"McDermott boasts of "passing on incriminating information to the media" and positions himself as a First Amendment defender. Major news organizations are backing his appeal.
"But back in '97, McD denied leaking the tape and said he knew not how the Times and Constitution laid hands on it.
He lied, and he has never explained or apologized for it."
And yet Moonbat Central elects this turd again and again- just as they do with "Idi Amin" Sims. This tells me that as far as the Libs are concerned (such as those with whom we have recently had to contend here), the ends justifiy the means. We already know this to be true. That's why they apply these crapulous tactics and then scream like schoolgirls when we catch them on it.
And Cantwell? Puh-leeze. Wild Sky? Is this supposed to be a major victory for the senator who has never passed a significant piece of legislation since she replaced Gorton under dubious circumstances? This is her "Big Thing?"
Remember this: Cantwell is going to be the person who casts the deciding vote on whether or not to kill the death tax. This is the sole major piece of legislation that has landed on Cantwell's desk where her thought process will actually mean something.
That means that we have to apply some positive pressure to Ms. Cantwell, dear friends. Call her up. Email her. Tell her that if she votes to keep the death tax, she is out on her Gucci-clad ass. This will be the decision that dooms her and relegates her to a seat back in the State House.
Joel's apology piece was chock full of some real substance. Imagine that- a Seattle Newspaper that actually gave us something meaningful to think about...!
Posted by: ERNurse on July 28, 2005 10:13 AMBut when it's this blatant, you just don't want to be saying silly things like "I wouldn't have done anything differently otherwise". People would just rather see you laugh at yourself and move along with it...ya' know, Connelly?
Posted by: Michele on July 28, 2005 12:08 PMI really don't attribute much credence to Joel's stuff anyway. His statement, much like the typical libs, is full of mitigating factors and deflection. No big shock there.
Posted by: ERNurse on July 28, 2005 12:43 PMMcDermott, the Seattle liberal Senator who licked Saddam Hussein's rear end in front of the world just before the war in Iraq says he’s been fighting a long-running court battle against right-wing Republicans. He claims that they want to punish him for contributing to the downfall of Newt Gingrich. In reality, law abiding citizens and officials want to punish him for illegally intercepting a taped cell-phone conversation, leaking it to the New York Times and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, denying having anything to do with it even though the friggin’ jacka$$ was caught dead to rights, and then having the unmitigated gall to claim that his felonious actions led to the downfall of Newt Gingrich.
THIS IS HOW LIBERALS DO POLITICS This guy never met a lie he didn’t like. He is truly the man of the millennia when it comes to pleading “I didn’t do it, I’m sorry, and I promise not to do it again . . . . (in a hushed tone with fingers crossed behind his ample behind) . . . not! As ranking House Ethics Committee Democrat (no I didn't say rank), McDermott may have to ultimately pay as much as $1,000,000 in legal fees,10,000 in statutory damages and $50,000 in punitive damages, to Rep. John Boehner of Ohio. Way too little if you ask me but, where do you spose this feller will git the dough from?
Typical liberal Democrat, McDermott lied, got caught red handed, and he has never explained or apologized for it. Sound familiar?
Couldn’t happen to a more appropriate guy. They ought to put him in prison with his butt-buddy Saddam.
