Ron Sims Radio
King County Executive Ron "99.98%" Sims is on KUOW Weekday program today in the 10am hour. Sims will be taking listener questions.
Listen on FM 94.9 in Seattle, or streaming audio here. Call in with your questions, (206) 543-KUOW, (800) 289-KUOW or e-mail the show, weekday@kuow.org
[Still on at this moment is historian/author David McCullough giving a fascinating talk about his new book on the American Revolution]
UPDATE: Sims acknowledged that Bill Huennkens reassignment was a "demotion", but said that he was moved into a position where his expertise could be used. I called the station with a follow-up question wanting to know why he was kept on the payroll at all, given his testimony which revealed him to be completely unaware of what was going on in the office and his duties to notify the canvassing board of the irregularities. The screener told me they were "moving on to another topic". Whatever, shield the executive from having to answer tough questions about the biggest scandal in recent county history.

1. When calling remember to use your "good home training" people!
2. Can't call in due to having to go do other stuff, but hope someone can ask him "Do you still think this was the kind of accuracy that any bank would envy?"
3. Don't worry guys, I have a friend who works at a bank and who showed me the bank's ATM reconciliation reports. We meet the same standards. Don't ask me who the guy is, what bank he works for or what those reports look like, just trust me.
4. Weasel
5. Stefan, that was the condition for agreeing to appear, even on National People's Radio...no rude "questions."
6. I posted this under another topic but feel it fits here since Sims keeps touting as some sort of expert in the new HAVA requirements.
Hunnekens "extensive" knowledge of HAVA requirements is no more extensive then any other manager at the elections office, and nothing that can't be picked up by reading the language of the new requirements. Basically this is just a complete fleece of the taxpayers. You not only have his newly created high paying "project manager" position but you still have to find another superintendent that will also be a near six figure position. Extremely redundant and extremely wasteful... King County citizens should be outraged by this whole situation, and Hunnekens should be ashamed of himself for taking it.
7. Re: Ron Sims on accuracy a bank would envy..
Isn't it obvious - he's referring to Norm Rice's bank.
8. Gee - Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if Ron Sims appointed Bill Huenneken as his Campaign manager. Ron would get the professional helps he needs to get re-elected and we, the citizens would get to see Ron 'put out to pasture'.
9. Funny how donx get access to public radio. I can't quite picture KUOW giving this access to, say, Irons.
10. Hahaaa! I was listening to part of the show as I went about my schedule. Thank you to whoever asked Sims the "bank accuracy" question. I was cracking up as I heard it!
Too bad probably only about 20 people listen to that show. Stefan, I'll bet NPR 94.5 had their highest ratings in months with you alerting us to the show so we could listen! (our tax dollars at work, sheesh!)
11. This is why Dems love taxpayer supported radio - they get the coverage they want in the way they want it.
As for you, Shark .... you know ... home training ...
That joke just never gets old. Nor does the bank accuracy fun.
Maybe after forced retirement, Sims should start "The Institute of Home Training."
You could go there and get schooled Shark.
12. Some friend of a friend sent me and every one of her email acquaintances an email about "Save Sesame Street." At first I ignored it, but when I saw some of the comments from others about eeevil Bush, I had to respond. But I kept my manners.
I heard someone on Medved today also arguing that taxpayers should subsidize his preferred TV programs.
13. I say we dub him 'Knight of the Vapours'--
"99 Sims" is my choice;
14. Remember that school bus song? (insert music track)
"99 Absentee votes on the wall....99 absentee votes...you take one down...?"
15. KUOW says it all. Sims is TOAST. 99.98% of voters will REJECT his home school training mantra.
16. what was that radio dial number? 99.98?
it won't come in clearly--ahhh--no problem--close enough--"any bank would envy" the fuzzy, distorted, scratchy reception...
17. I am trying to get on as many radio and TV shows as I can between now and November and really propagandize myself as EXECUTIVE. I have an election to win you know. besides that where the hell am I going to make $150K and get a town car and a driver for free?
And you know what? I really do not appreciate those bunmper stickers that say
"don't rear end me, Ron Sims alreadt did"
excuse me, excuse me, gentlemen, I expect some good home training. that just hurts my feelings.
18. hawhawwww...the above post. Reminds me of the Micheal jackson comment (think Michael's little soft voice) "that's just hurtful...."
19. Expanding my spell-check and lexicon:
"HT"--home training; usage (when offended for any trifle or p.c. issue): "Hey--where is your HT?!"
"Anybank"--(not Citibank, not KeyBank)--an imaginary bank where all patrons are happy with 99.98% balances; usage (to explain away a FUBAR): "Hey it's good enough for 'Anybank!'"
"HAVA"--some voting issue thing; catch-all for election dung to be handed off to another unsuspecting voter; usage: "Here--HAV-A..." (insert term for useless trinket, garbage or whatever...)" i.e.: "Have a load of ..."
home fries: (real food--potato wedges); usage: (best eaten at the table with home training at Tent City): "Excuse me...excuse me, gentlemen...pass the home fries--don't you have any HT?!"
20. I'm really upset that I did not know about the broadcast in time. I would have asked Czar Sims if he would like a trail in the middle of his yard. The man loves trails and other land grabs. At the time of the broadcast, I was out on my deck, watching his henchmen and their heavy equipment mutilating trees and bushes as they worked on the trail. Meanwhile, the bald eagles were all on Prozac . . they were scared to death. Maybe Councilwoman Julia could share some of her downers with the poor birds. I guess it is now environmentally okay to disturb the habitat of bald eagles. Situation ethics?
21. I forgot something. My blood boils when I think about "guys" in little biker shorts cavorting up and down the trail, replacing all of those gorgeous eagles that my husband and I love to watch. I'm so upset about it . . . I guess I need to rock a grandbaby to calm me down!
22. Speaking of comparisons to banks, I was watching TV last night and saw a Bank of America commercial about their high standard in accuracy. The ad said that the bank processes 40 million checks (just checks) per day. That's right, that is PER DAY. King county had to deal with less than one million ballots in one election cycle (too many days), couldn't get anything straight, and then compared its result with banking industry. What a joke!!!!!
