Shark Radio

I'll be on the John Carlson Show again this afternoon at 3:15pm, KVI 570.

David Goldstein will apparently be on the show again too. I worry for Goldstein that he seems to believe that being invited on KVI is a sign that he's being taken seriously. I'm only speculating, but my hunch is that he's there mainly so the listeners can enjoy making fun of him.

One of our anonymous trolls, "danw", pointed out in the comments [May 24 10:35am]

Snark rarely disputes what Goldy says
that's true, but it doesn't mean what danw wants it to mean. It's also the case that I rarely dispute what Zippy the Pinhead says.

I guess its similar to you getting a spot on The Stranger. Same difference. Every media outlet needs a token dissenter.

2. I still maintain that Goldy is not a worthy opponent for you and I'm done listening to him ever since I figured out that listening to him is about as rewarding as listening to Bill Huennekens.

3. I still maintain that Goldy is not a worthy opponent for you and I'm done listening to him...

But Michele, that would mean you would have to turn off KVI while Goldy was talking. Creates quite a dilemma doesn't it?

4. If you want to see for yourself the mentality of the likes of 'goldy' just visit his site. Most of the posting there did not impress me as bieng done with someone with greater deapth or IQ than a sardine tin. Their imagination and vocabulary seemed to be limited to bodily functions as well, tragic.

5. Yes, Erik. You have it exactly right. I DO turn off KVI for a few minutes while Goldy talks.

Congratulations for figuring this out! Go to the head of the class, Erik.

7. Sorry, Shark, but can I turn KVI on at 3:30?

Carlson can't come up with someone better to give a counterpoint?

8. Poor Goldy, Carlson and Kirby have given him compliment after compliment and debut after dbut and yet Air America Radio has still not called him. Bummer. Now had he been taking my advice to exercise his diaphram to deepen his voice, calm down and wait his turn to speak maybe a talent scout would have taken notice by now.

don't be fooled by HA hits, 1/2 are conservatives and the other 1/2 is one person with many sockpuppets.

9. Folks, if you are a KVI regular and don't like listening to Goldstein, then contact kvi and let them know.

10. Zach and all---yesterday, as I was deciding I'd had enough of Goldy for his weak presentations---I noticed that he laughed as Carlson was saying the name of his blog on the air.

You can tell that Goldy takes perverse delight in hearing it, knowing that he has just succeeded in gettting Carlson to debase himself by REGULARLY having to say something on the air that he clearly is uncomfortable with (why else does Carlson keep bemoaning that he wishes Goldy should change the name of the website). Goldy also loves that he has just succeeded in getting John to disrespect an audience that mostly would rather not be subjected to that kind of coarseness of language. It's Goldy's perverse little delight.

I've already complained to them about it. And for the trolls who have a problem with this, I didn't see you guys complaining when King 5 TV refused to say the name of the website or show the name upon interviewing Goldy.

11. It's not as if we don't want to hear the other side being heard on KVI. Carlson has Shrambo on quite often and I enjoy listening to him (I think his ideas are so kooky and funny...they make me laugh). But with Goldy...I don't even know how to describe it...but it's uncomfortable.

12. Goldstein doesn't even take himself seriously. Anyone who felt they had something worthy to say, wouldn't feel the need to enhance it with an embroidery of profanity. Nor would they name their web site as Goldstein has.

The reason why Stefan never responds to Goldstein, is that for the most part, Goldstein does not even deserve the dignity of a response. Most of his arguments are regurgitations of mainstream media articles that back his views, but are equally without merit when objectively compared to arguments such as Stefan's and other posters.

Goldstein fills a nice little niche for left leaning folks that like to vent that all right leaning folks are "wingnuts," rabid religious fundamentalists, etc. but if you want to understand what's going on, you can get a much more balanced and less narcissistic view simply by reading Stefan's posts, and the links to the mainstream sources he often refutes.

Yes, dissent makes groupthink more difficult.

14. Erik, not even you can find Goldstein's arguments an adequate representation of a dissenting point of view that we need to pay attention to, can you?

oh..........wait a minute, just read some of your posts. Nevermind, I guess you probably do think it's well reasoned logic.

15. erik, I would prefer listening to you or lucy-goosey than your guy. How is that groupthink?

Your guy has been censured from my discussions for improper indiscretions.

16. Erik, I'd hold off on the groupthink charge if I were you. Nobody has made groupthink more of an issue than liberals, who throw a comlete hissyfit if an opinion expressed does not fit into their view of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Society has been cowering under the threat of political correctness for several years now. Hopefully we will throw it off someday but it will take awhile.

17. Did y'all hear the liberal caller on Carlson talking about the Republicans' "coup d'etat"? He was so out there that I was listening for him to admit it was just satire. But no, he really thinks the P-I is a conservative media outlet!

As for this "will of the people" line, they refuse to get that the election contest was brought about because we don't KNOW the will of the people. Well, actually, I think I do - Rossi won.

18. I just finished reading HA for the 1st time. What a load of material that would be produced by the sites namesake. Very hard to take anything that Goldy writes as credible.

Time for Erik to wake up and smell the dung!
