"King County ballot numbers don't add up"

In today's Seattle Times.

Half a year after the closest governor's election in state history, King County officials still can't say for sure how many people voted Nov. 2 or, in many cases, who voted.

In all, the county can't explain nearly 4,000 discrepancies between the number of votes counted and earlier tallies of ballots or people recorded as voting at the polls. In some cases, more ballots were counted than officials could account for, in other cases fewer.

Oh dear. And we were told that "It was a model to the rest of the nation and the world at large about how an election system, as close as this one is, can be done with the highest of quality"

1. "The highest of quality" Bahaahaa. Ranks right up there with Sims' famous "bank accuracy" line; neither of them will ever live it down!

Based on your post just beneath this one about the alternate case the Ds could try to present, I'd expect those Democrat lawyers to say that 4,000 discrepancies in KC PROVES that Gregoire really won.

So what if it makes no sense? Like that MATTERS to these people?

2. Well, I suppose that since most of the rest of the POPULATION of the world lives under totalitarian or psuedo democracy governments .... for those parts of the world a banana republic election thrown by corrupt officials IS a model.

It's all just a matter of perspective Sharkie.

3. All you need to do is learn the DEM-speak.

This 'model' was 'tried' in FL 2000, but didn't work!
They were sure they had debugged their 'system' and were far enough away from the original 'crime scene'.

As far as the term 'quality', anyone see 'Matchstick Men'?

A perfect (quality) scham, is a thing of beauty.

'It's not stealing, when you talk them into 'giving' you what you want'.

And yet, despite all these discrepancies and admitted acts of fraud perpetrated by King County election officials, we at the Seattle Times Editorial board do not a see a reason to hold a new election for Governor.

5. As I posted yesterday, this is why they are re-asking the same questions to the live witnesses instead of just submitting the depositions. Seems the media hadn't been reading the documents posted on SP. This way the whole country is hearing the testimony, and the MSM is forced to report the same thing the people heard for fear of [further] backlash.

6. Goldy from Horsesa**.org tried the argument on Carlson. KC was so fouled up we can't know how many descrepancies there are. Since we don't know how many, we don't know how to adust the vote totals, Gregoire wins.

My head hurts trying to follow that line.

Looks like the MSM is starting to abandon the Dems ship.

7. Does anyone know or know where to find a reconcillation of ballots for all 39 Washington counties? It would be very interesting to see how well King County did relative to all other counties. Of course, one problem is that King County falsified the ballot reconcillation report(s). I wonder if other counties did that? Oh, you mean the elected and hired election workers in other counties have some integrity.

10. I don't want to get overly optimistic here, since there's still a long way to go, but it sure has been fun so far and is looking good, I'd say. I think my favorite part has been watching how the msm reports the events. Anything that can remotely be construed as somewhat positive for the dems gets front page coverage like "GOP dealt major blow" (when they clearly weren't). But the overwhelming positives for the GOP are barely reported at all, or ridiculed. I even heard someone on NWCN last night report about how there was a lot of talk about "fuzzy math" during the trial today....(and that was all they said)...LOL....And the papers here sometimes, buried deep in a story, mention pro-GOP events of the day, but then quickly state the dem talking points on the subject. (Like, (paraphrasing) "But poor King County had 900,000 votes while Chelan county only had 29,000" or whatever...so? Do they have a point?)

Bias? What bias?

11. The Seattle PI's Gregory Roberts' 5/25/05 article regarding comparison of Chelan and King County ballot counting stated: But on cross-examination, the Democrats tried to show a contrast of their own: between Chelan County, which counted fewer than 30,000 votes from 80 precincts, served by seven polling places, and King County, which counted more than 900,000 votes from 2,616 precincts, with 540 polling places."

"The more precincts you have, the more complexity you have," Arnold said under questioning by Democratic lawyer Jenny Durkan.

A quick review of the numbers shows that in fact the Chelan County vote counting structure was more complicated that King County. With only seven polling places for 30,000 voters, they had 4,286 voters for each polling place, whereas King County only had 1,667 voters per polling place (900,000/540). Moreover, King County's polling place had under 5 districts (on average) whereas Chelan had over 11 districts per polling place. And each precint in Chelan had 375 votes cast (on average, again), whereas King County precints had an average of only 344 votes.

Since the reconciliation originates at the polling place, the Chelan County vote counters had over two and a half times more work and difficulty in reconciling their vote counts than the poll workers in Chelan.

I hope that the Republican attorneys pointed this out in their redirect exam (and that the PI simply failed to include that information in their story).

12. It's a matter of scale if 29,000 ballots can be reconciled so can 900,000. In fact the greater the volume the lower cost per unit, i.e... fewer workers per ballot. It is not rocket science to count pieces of paper. You take the same methodology and expand it. Multiply a 0% error rate 31 times you still get 0%. That dog won't hunt.

Business does it all the time, work out the methodology on a small sample then expand the model. In my experience going from engineering to production the error rate actually decreases as scale goes up.

The problem in KC goes beyond a normal error rate. KC had an induced error by the methodology used. Then instead of attempting to correct the error they made up numbers that looked good and passed it off as accurate data.

The Dems and MSM are trying to pass this thing off as naturally occurring error. WRONG, it was an induced error that they knew going in was an induced error. Then compounding the problem they attempted to cover it up. The only reason it came to light was the margin of victory was way below the error threshold.

13. "Tanks, there are no tanks..."; Baghdad Bob on the eve of the fall of Baghdad.

It seems that when people know they're totally screwed, they start monologueing about how perfect and great they are and how everyone should trust them and not worry too much...

Predictions on the outcome of this mess.
1. Governor Rossi
2. Cedar County (east of King Co.)
3. King Co. Executive Irons
4. Inmates Huennekens, Logan, Simms
5. Republican majorities in both houses.
6. Gregoire's future most often uttered sentence; "would you like fries with that"?
7. The end of Sound Transit, Seattle Monorail, and the new Gas Tax.

Maybe not all will come true, but I'll take 5 out of seven.

14. "Complexity" is one of the standard lib/dem escape hatches. P.63 of the playbook. It, however, has no definition. Which is why they like it.

15. Remember what is at stake here for the Dem/liberal people: not just the govoners seat. If the voters realize that not only did they get screwed in 2004 but that it goes way back there will be a major backlash. It's been said that what laws Gergoire signed stand because she was "certified". But I wonder... If it's shown that previous close votes were suspect (Cantwell, "emergency" stadiums, monorails, Sound Transit, ect) what will be the fallout? If the elections were fraudulent and the misuse of the "emergency" clause shown it will cause major problems for the powers that be. This is going to be interesting!!!

16. Send all ballots to Seattle, Florida, 66666-6666 to be re-counted and/or investigated. I believe Seattle, FL is near Miami-Dade.
