Because of its urgency and importance, this is a repost of an earlier announcement.
The fall elections are months away, but now's the time to volunteer to be an election day pollworker. The deadline for signing up to work in the fall elections in King County is today, June 1. I can't stress how critical of a need this is.
For more details and to sign up, please e-mail Chris Morgan right away, at: info@kcgop.org
There was so much sloppiness at the polls last November, I think it's fair to say that three factors by themselves were sufficient to hand an unearned (hopefully temporary) victory to Christine Gregoire: (1) incompetent poll workers, (2) a lack of Republican pollworkers and (3) unscrupulous activists who took advantage of inadequate polling place controls and cheated.
The single most important thing that we King County Republicans can do to ensure a fair election in November is to volunteer two days of our time -- primary election day September 20 and general election day November 8 -- and spend those two days working at a polling place and ensuring that the election is lawfully conducted. I volunteered for this duty, so should you. Because of the advance deadline of June 1, it's better to sign-up now even if you're not 100% certain you can make the commitment, and to have to back out later, than to miss the opportunity altogether.
For more details and to sign up, please e-mail Chris Morgan right away, at: info@kcgop.org
The following are some photographs I took of poll books that show the kind of illegal and other sloppy practices that pollworkers permitted that we need to prevent --
1. Voter was allowed to vote without signing poll book (violation of RCW 29A.44.210)
2. Provisional ballot went through Accuvote
3. "Ballot Accountability Sheet" shows 16 mystery ballots went through Accuvote.
4. "Ballot Accountability Sheet" not filled out.
5. An absentee voter was permitted to vote a regular ballot (violation of WAC 434-240-250

No more Mr. Clean.
I'd love to work in the absentee ballot validation and/or counting department...but I'm sure King County hires only card carrying liberal Democrats for those positions.....
Posted by: Deborah on May 30, 2005 12:03 AMI doubt the Democrats have ever considered the concept of the “legitimacy of pollworkers”. That is why we have been asked to come in and give you and your party a standard to reach for. You can be assured that if your side loses the final vote count will be accurate and HONEST (this time).
Kinda like the Dems grinding the Senate to a halt, and then threatening, if we take away their ability to grind the Senate to a halt, to grind the Senate to a halt.
Keep pulling that trigger, Lucy, but I gotta tell you, you've already fired all your ammo, and all that's left is a pleasant little clicking sound =)
Posted by: TB on May 30, 2005 05:55 AMThis is an unexplored issue I haven't heard discussed in relation to the trial. Maybe they are staying away from it because of objections to using the "F" word out loud.
What is the percentage of democrat vols compared to republicans in King and the state and what key positions are held by possible subversives?
Posted by: Baynative on May 30, 2005 06:26 AMMaybe an online seminar regarding election laws, as written rather than as ignored, would be useful for the poll workers.
Posted by: iconoclast on May 30, 2005 07:20 AM1. Lets get those Diebold machines in the right districts.
2. Lets get a list of Felon names, like Washington, Hernandez, Linclon, Goldstein, and get all the like names pulled from the voters roles.(then they might not get reregistered in time)
3. Lets call the names like above and let them know that their voting date has been changed to a Weds. especially those little old FDR ladies.
4. Let's challenge every dark skinned person who walks up to the polling place, and clog up the district. (We can do this to all really nice dressed men on Capitol hill too)
5. Let's get those trucks stopped so as not to deliver enough voting Machines to THOSE districts.
6. Let's make sure that those legal immigrants workers that voting will put their families in jeopardy. whether they're legal or not, it doesn't matter.
7. Let's make sure we raise the terror level before every election.
8. Let the BIAW send out lettters saying, not only do they build houses, but can tear them down as well.
9. Let's advertise That Demo was a war Criminal, and the Repub defended Alabama with honor.
At this point, this should do the trick, we don't even to raise a lot of money for advertising.
Just make sure we keep people from voting, that we don't have the Diebold machines in yet.
Posted by: danw on May 30, 2005 10:48 AMI do think a certain number of brave people should re-register as Ds before signing up as poll workers.

Posted by: jimg on May 30, 2005 11:28 AMThere needs to be 1 R for each D working. That means you!
If KC decides to go to all mail/fraud mail voting, be sure you are signed up to to verfie the signatures of ALL of the ballots that come in.
So, come on team, LET'S GET TO WORK!
HOO RAH!

#3. There is a part of me that finds hilarious this chestnut about people being told that "Wednesday" is their day for voting. Borrowing something from Major Greg (VMF 214 Black Sheep Squadron: Medal of Honor awardee and fighter "ace") Boyington's autobiography about seeing the behavior of a crowd at a wrestling match, and being reminded that their vote counted the same as his -- part of me is concerned that someone sufficiently ill-informed to believe this -- their vote counts just the same as someone who researches the issues and the candidates. To the little FDR ladies: guess what...he's been dead for 60 years, and he authorized US armed forces personnel to engage in a de facto war in China before Japan attacked us on 7Dec41.
As a conservative dyke, I find danw's comment in point #4" (We can do this to all really nice dressed men on Capitol hill too)" to raise some question about why he would bring this up.
As far as I know, no one (even in the fever swamps of indymedia, DU, DailyKos, etc.) has made any assertion that gays have been prevented from voting -- so, I suspect that we may have learned a little more of 'where' danw is coming from?
#5. And who do you think drives those trucks? Members of the Teamsters union? Perhaps? Hotbed of Republican activity there in THAT union.
#6. Let's pass legislation that prevents someone from being asked when they register at DOL whether they're citizens. Why should an age-restricted privilege of citizenship be limited to citizens? Oops. Already done.
#7. OK. The attack in Spain coming a few days before their election was just a coincidence. The general threat against Iraqis who were readying to vote was too. Does that mean that danw would not have a hissy-fit issue about "____ had a specifically-stated warning! if something had happened?
#8. Excuse me? Aside from the fact that building something occasionally follows the tearing down of an existing structure, the relevance to an election is....?
#9. OK. If you insist -- we'll advertise the fact that the Demo had a self-inflicted (although, as those of us from military families or military backgrounds know, that doesn't infer intention -- simply a question of inadvertent shrapnel wounds from one's own weapon) wound and allegedly shot an already-wounded combatant. And, that the incident was seared, SEARED, into his memory (oh. please thank JK for finally signing his SF180 last week -- six months after the election!)
(BTW, danw. Has Mary Mapes found a new job yet?)
#3. Oh. And FDR also tried to force through legislation to 'pack' the USSC -- and add enough members to the then-current justices (9) to create a majority -- because they weren't 'playing ball' with the constitutionality of his New Deal proposals. Admittedly, it may have keep the US from turning into a socialist state during the mid/late-1930s, but, sh_t...using a legislative majority to change the make-up of the Court to benefit ones party and philosophy! If the fifth dissenting justice hadn't seen what was happening, changed his opinion, and rendered "moot" the pending legislation: a "nuclear option", there.

Oh and Howard Dean.
Remember poll workers running provisionals through without validation?
Tigress: A great response. Much better than the troll you addressed deserved.
I was reading danw's 'well-dressed men' comment, and it was odd. And, since I don't know that gay-dar works over the 'net, I thought that I should at least query the reason for dan's mention of 'well-dressed men up on Capitol Hill.'
Posted by: FlyingTigress on May 30, 2005 02:21 PMA "conservative dyke?" What's funny is that it's probably only the trolls that would find this relevant. I've known a number of conservative gays, so most of my understanding of how gays view things has been skewed by that experience...but the most common reaction to knee-jerk liberalism from them has been of the, "What, are you nuts?" variety.
That's one of the systematic and inherrent problems of the left being an amalgam of constituent minorities...there is no unifying set of precepts that seek to benefit society in the main...so while the left may push something that nominally works to put one agenda item in place that helps that particular group...at the same time the left is doing all kinds of things to make every other aspect of their lives a living nightmare. Taxes, restrictions on freedoms, wasted gov programs, trying to degrade the military, teaching "non-competition"...and on and on.
Btw, FT, thanks for your service. I'll tip a negra modelo in your honor with my BBQ this afternoon.

Answer: No but when the votes don't match the polls, Karl Rove says "Nice Grouping"

Ask Catherine Harris how she came up with the names in 2000, from an 85% incorrect Texas supplied list. ( mostly ethnic names) remember this is your playbook, not mine. jump on board.

The targeting of elderly worked well for your fundraising, why not to confuse voters as well, or heck let's just get that Poll Tax thing going again. If smart was a requirement, then you believing all this Bunk about Dino Rossi winning an Election would disqualify you. LOL

#5. And who do you think drives those trucks? Members of the Teamsters union? Perhaps? Hotbed of Republican activity there in THAT union.
Answer:
You right, we just better make sure that Sam Reed is on OUR side next time, like Blackwell and Harris...Both Secretary of States, in charge of the Elections, but also in charge of The States GOP for President run. (talk about a conflict of interest.)
#6. Let's pass legislation that prevents someone from being asked when they register at DOL whether they're citizens. Why should an age-restricted privilege of citizenship be limited to citizens? Oops. Already done.
Answer:
All we need is intimidation, just scare them from voting...Repubs like fewer voters. The dirty and uglier the campaign, the fewer people come out. Remember longer lines mean fewer working people can vote.
#7. OK. The attack in Spain coming a few days before their election was just a coincidence. The general threat against Iraqis who were readying to vote was too. Does that mean that danw would not have a hissy-fit issue about "____ had a specifically-stated warning! if something had happened?

Didn't you hear what Tom Ridge had to say?
He didn't have any idea why they changed the level most the time? Wag the Dog?
And this man Soars like an Eagle.
Iraqi's? didn't they cause 911? 60 something percent of you Foxie thought so.
How's that exit strategy coming, when Haliburton is building 20 Military bases there? Can't wait for the flowers to flow to our soldiers soon.
#8. Excuse me? Aside from the fact that building something occasionally follows the tearing down of an existing structure, the relevance to an election is....?
Answer:
We are already have a good Brownshirt group going with the BIAW, who have made threats already. Let's not waste and opportunity to intimidate more Demo voters.
#9. OK. Doesn't matter to the Jane Fonda haters of the world. We were put into a wrong war, someone spoke out against..ergo.. hate the troops. It's not hate the Troops, it's hate the decision made by the Military Industrial complex.
Swift Boat Liars brought to you by Karl Rove.
Bush was a draft dodging, drunk, "C" student party boy with a coke habit. Find Jesus? and now he is president. Because of the Anti intellecual phenomenen, often found in the Fascists playbooks.
I AM JUST TRYING TO HELP HERE.
Just trying to get you to follow the national GOP playbook, It works with the hicks in the south...perhaps Chris Vance wasn't the right guy...too Honorable?...probably not.
PS don't forget to get some anti-gay marriage intiative on the ballot next time, to really get the sheep out.
Posted by: danw on May 30, 2005 03:42 PMCool. Does that mean that when Karl Rove turned away on Election Day, Mary Beth Cahill sneaked up to the "exit poll" dart board and stuck all the darts around the "John Kerry is going to win the election" bulls-eye -- and had Wonkette and the Daily Kos post the results of 'her' exit polls -- right before Karl said "Nice grouping"?
(loud whinny)...

Posted by: niceville on May 30, 2005 05:54 PMI have half a mind (no creative cut and paste...) to re-register as a Democrat and try to become a Dim Poll Worker. I'd love to hear what kind of good home training they receive. If it's anything like what I have heard occasionally on AirAmerica on the AM dial...Heaven help us. We need Republicans at the polls as Poll workers. Thanks for the reminder, Stefan!
BTW...why is it when I go into FedEx in Issaquah to pick-up a package they require me to show ID but Democrats are against my showing a picture ID to vote? Just wondering...
Posted by: MattMan on May 30, 2005 05:57 PMTalk about flushing out a full moonbat. But remember, you must shoot moonbats on the wing, otherwise it is unsporting. Ya know, shooting moonbats in a barrel and all that.
I do like the line about "Jane Fonda haters". A true moonbat has no problem with a dimwit manning an AA cannon against her own country. And you found one on your very own! Wow!
And that line about enforcing voter integrity being a facist activity is just too precious. Like all moonbats, this one is too brain-damaged to realize that fascists were a breed of socialists. Even better, this one thinks (using the term very loosely, of course) that limiting the vote to legal voters is somehow wrong.
We need a new term to describe your persipicacity in identifying moonbats. Something like gaydar....hmmm....how about...batdar? Moondar?

Posted by: Mr. Cynical on May 30, 2005 08:38 PMIn this case and the coming election, there should be two republicans to every democrat poll worker and in the case of a recount, at every table where the ballots are counted.
The trick the auditors like to use is to have people claim to be independent, just in case they need an extra body here and there.
A person can be a life long demoncrat ( or republican) and sit with two others of the same persuasion and this is seen as fair by the Auditors.
Our county just went vote by mail to our disappointment, and so we will only need enough bodies to cover 5 drop off points, one being the couty court house.
Gonna be a lot of dems switching to independent to keep that $110.00 they get for sitting on their keesters all day.
I know for a fact that at least two of the so called republicans on the counting tables in our county were in fact democrats but hey, its only the law so who cares if it's obeyed.
What I hope will happen is that all the counties will do as we are trying to get done here. Have their comissioners work with the parties to insist the auditrs purge the voter rolls entirely. Then deputize known people of good character to man the reregistration sites and go out to peoples homes to sign em up Provided they have proof of citizenship.
We have authorized and are now forming a comittee to approach our commissioners for just that purpose.
In a county of 60,000 registered voters, it should be a simple task with proper planning.
Since the county is saving all those $110.00 pay checks now that we are vote by mail, they could actually pay the registrars without over running their old budget.
Just something to think about.
I encourage all of you to sign up in KC, Snohomish and Pierce counties. Have your local party challenge any poll worker that isn't known as a republican and fill that 2/3's with real independents and republicans
"Which ever party has the White House, has the right to have 2 of their party to one of the losing party at the polls."
Nope. It's by county (see para. 4). So in King, the Democrats get to have the inspector and one judge, while the Republicans get one judge.

Posted by: difranco on May 31, 2005 07:54 AMSo which cheek that they pull that from? Among other things, it assures that third parties will have no representation. I would rather see one from the top three parties. Libertarians can be strange, but they generally are honest, unlike members of a certain donkey party I know...
Posted by: Dogbert on May 31, 2005 06:30 PMDanw,Danw, that is three negative references to Texas and Southerners. You just showed us the hypocrisy of the liberals. The left tells us how we should not discriminate and how we should not use perjorative terms when we refer to people. You are always talking about how mean we are on the right and how prejudiced we are.
It does get extremely tiresome to hear from the enlightened left how low our knuckles drag in the South and particularly with us Cowboy type Texans.
Come on down here, buddy and we will show you how enlightened we are. In the meantime, shut the hell up. You are showing your prejudice!
danw,
Having your picture taken while sitting in an anti-aircraft battery for the enemy, by it self shows contempt for you own military, ie "hating the troops". If you don't get that, you never will.
The election dept is supposed to allocate poll workers more or less evenly among local political parties. There’s a big shortage of Rs in the 43rd so Ds commonly fill slots reserved for Rs. I’m sure that your omission as a pollworker was just a honest oversight, so keep trying. Maybe elections will get it right next time.
