Here's a fascinating discovery buried in King County's otherwise deadly boring comprehensive report of the (then) 93 uncounted absentee ballots: a careful read shows that there are a bunch more numerical discrepancies waiting to be explained, suggesting the existence of both missing ballots as well as a bunch of extra unexplained mystery ballots! --
Look at page 2 of the report (page 4/16 of the fax): Batch 248 is the batch containing the bundle of 48 envelopes with untabulated ballots:
The batch slip for batch 248 showed that there was a discrepancy between what was initially verified and transferred to the opening process (257 ballots) and what was ultimately tabulated (193 ballots). Fifteen ballots of the overall discrepancy are accounted for on the batch slip as ballots sent for duplication/enhancement or as ballots segregated due to write-in votes for various races.Let's do the math to calculate the unexplained discrepancy before the 48 ballots were discovered: 257 - 193 - 15 = 49. In other words, even after the 48 ballots were found, there is still a discrepancy in this batch of +1 more ballots opened than there were ballots tabulated. Did somebody's ballot disappear? The numbers suggest that this is what happened.
There were other batches that also seemed to be missing ballots. Similarly, there were other batches that initially appeared to have no discrepancy, but then when the uncounted ballots were discovered and subtracted from the tally, those batches each ended up with a net discrepancy of 1 more ballot counted than opened. How does that happen?
In all, (including the 94th ballot reported separately) out of 17 batches with untabulated ballots, there were 3 batches that are left with an aggregate discrepancy of 5 missing ballots (more ballots opened than ballots tabulated) and 7 batches with a total of 7 extra magical mystery ballots (ballots tabulated in excess of ballots opened).
There's probably a good explanation for all of this. This is what was found in only 17 out of some 3,000 batches. Could there be more weird discrepancies in the remaining batches? It'll be very interesting to see what we can learn from the Absentee Ballot Audit Trail and the original batch slips, etc. Here's hoping King County releases those documents ASAP.

Posted by: Arky on April 9, 2005 05:28 AMThe ballots found were from various "Batches".
Some of the Batches were marked or noted
"The batch slip also indicates that the ballots opened and transferred to tabulation were tabulated twice and that an addition hand count of the ballots was performed." ( 3 counts)
Others were noted:
"The batch slip does indicate that the ballots opened and transferred to tabulation were hand counted." (hand count only)
Others were:
"The batch slip does indicate that the ballots opened and transferred to tabulation were tabulated twice" (machine twice?)
Another:
The batch slip DOES NOT indicate that the ballots opened and transferred to tabulation were tabulated twice OR that an additional hand count of the ballots was performed." (dont know if counted)
Does this mean that they don't know which ballots were COUNTED when, or how many times?????
For goodness sakes!!! Bring in the Fed's....

Posted by: Unkl Witz on April 9, 2005 08:32 AMPlease review your March post on the Rainier Free Methodist Church. In there I asked what happened to two ballots 104 originally counted by subtraction and 102 written out of no where, and the 5 to 7 missing ballots "spoiled" but no where identified as spoiled in their earlier tabulations.
I hope that helps.

But , interestingly enough, shortly after making that comparison, Bank of America announced that it had lost the records of 1,000,000,000 of its customers. Also, do you know how many errors banks do make on a daily , monthly, or yearly basis. Has anyone you know NEVER had a bank screw up a transaction? So , your comparison, like so many other things you say, is based on opinion leavened with just the numbers you want to use to support your distorted opinions. You have created a climate of fear, finger-pointing and hysteria that must be unmasked as the fear=mongering that it is.
Posted by: headless lucy on April 9, 2005 11:00 AMThose "tabulated twice" and "hand count" notes that the internal report refers to are odd.
The report portrays them as steps to verify the number of ballots when the number accepted as valid during the signature comparison stage appeared to be different from the number of ballots that reached the vote tabulation stage.
However, they don't appear to have been any such thing.
Five batches had no such "tabulated twice and hand counted" notes, even though one of them was missing 2 ballots according to the slip.
Five batches had notes saying "tabulated twice and hand counted," but 2 of those 5 batches had no missing ballots according to the slips.
Among other things, I began to wonder if the fellow who wrote the internal report misunderstood the meaning of those notes. Tabulated by machine twice? Yes, the initial count and first recount. Hand counted? Yes, the second recount.
But, if that's really what those notes refer to, then why would only 5 of the 15 batches in which the 93 ballots were found have batch slips that showed all three vote counts?
It's odd. Maybe an examination of several of the batch slips would give a clearer picture of what they actually did.
Posted by: Micajah on April 9, 2005 11:14 AMIf they had be honest and upfront in the beginning about the errors, many "normal" citizens of this state would excuse this, BUT nooooooo they had to deny, make excuses (like the one above), and side step the issue(like you have above and on every other post you have written)...So let the chips fall where they may....
I really dont care who the hell our Gov is, i just want people (Sims, Logan, election workers permanent/temp, ect) whom are paid with TAX DOLLARS to be responsible for the Job they are doing.....I work hard for my dollars, and the taxes I pay, I expect them to be spent wisely....
But there are people like you in this state who just want to "let it go". Don't fix it, let's just move on..Well Lucy Dear, this time (whatever the outcome) the public (and i dont want comment on your damn polls) want what is RIGHT, not fix it later bull......If we don't make an example of those responsible (sims, Logan ect)it will continue, just like it has for the past 20+ years.....
PS....I dont live in KC, but all the screwups in KC affected my vote here.
Posted by: Chris on April 9, 2005 11:24 AM1. it was the properly house-trained Sims who made the comparison with banks.
2. banks FIRE those who do make the occasional error.
3. banks refer to law enforcement when the errors are such that simple idiocy can't explain the actions.
4. and, if a bank made errors of the type that occured in KC, the Feds would be in there so fast, it'd make your head spin (oops...sorry).
BofA has backup to recreate its "lost" records, and its accounting and auditing is infinitely more public than KC's.
I spent 6 years investigating bank fraud. I actually know what I'm talking about. You should try it sometime.

"Bank of America announced that it had lost the records of 1,000,000,000 of its customers."
which of course didn't ring true.
The real story is:
"Bank of America loses a million customer records".
If you can't tell the difference between a billion and a million ... Maybe you can get a job with KC Elections?
So who "leavened with just the numbers you want to use to support your distorted opinions.?
Posted by: ItTakesAVillageToConveneAGrandJury on April 9, 2005 12:09 PMThe point is that in the real world, meaning not KC elections, people suffer consequences for screwing up. When a bank goofs up, people lose advancements, lose jobs, and even do hard time.
When KCEs screwed up big time, leftists want us to ignore it and just let the improperly certified pretenders continue on in office.
It's the left that interjects politics into it. Honest people are outraged by the theft of an election.

Posted by: Gil on April 9, 2005 06:22 PMLucy, you talk of chord striking in your post but what you do is cause us to look into your source to dispute your statement.
As you have been chastised about the extra three zeroes on your first post, I will over look that part.
As to the meat of your arguement, I think you miss the key point intirely.
I quote
"Federal law enforcement officials were immediately engaged when the tapes were discovered missing, and subsequently conducted a thorough investigation into the matter, working closely with Bank of America", the bank said in a statement. "The investigation to date has found no evidence to suggest the tapes or their content have been accessed or misused, and the tapes are now presumed lost."
Had King County been as forth coming in their reporting, rather than doctoring their report so that the end result was the number needed to cover their backsides This may have gone away.
Another point, even at the risk of losing their government contract, Bank of America, having the integrity to face the scrutiny of the Feds and the Media, brought this to light.
King County waited until Stefan and the pajama cald warriors exposed its dirty little secrets before adamandlty denying any errors beyond .092% and now calls it simple human error, which is to be expected in a close race.
I dare say it is not only expected, but counted on. That is the ace up their collective sleeve.
Try and get your brain around this, Errors, fraud or stupidity, however you want to describe this fiasco in King County. The numbers are off and this election was tainted beyond any true determination of the result.
I wonder if this was before or after they voted?
Posted by: Gil on April 9, 2005 06:43 PMThere is much more to be *found* in the King County election mess! But as I stated in another post - the discoveries will be *controlled* so that the number of *found* ballot descrepancies will never exceed 129 at a time! To exceed that famous number - would bring instant outrage and questions about the validity of Gregoires election win! (Yes - WE already know she did not win the Governors race...but a news story about 1000 or more descrepancies would gain the attention of the public and seriously aid Rossi's contest at this crucial time)
If anyone believes that the leaks to the media from King County about their recent finds were unintentional....consider this - King County now knows the Feds are coming. They know they have to reveal all of the hidden descrepancies soon or risk having an investigation unveil them. If they wait - and the Feds come in and find what KC's been hiding - ALL of the Democrat players go down! This includes Sims, Logan, Huenneken, - perhaps council members - plus republican Sam Reed and his buddy Nick Handy! It would also include anyone caught in other counties as well....
There are many more eggs to be found - but don't expect a pile of them (above 129) to be revealed at one time....
Stefan should have a running tally of King County and other area descrepancies posted on the main page of this blog (with a sticky) including a total so that those who visit here can see every day - just how many messed up ballots have been revealed in the November election.
A ballot descrepancy meter! That would include felon votes, dead people, non-citizens, double voters, found ballots, illegal provisional ballots counted, etc.... Just lump the total together so people get the basic idea of how screwed up the election was! King County is trying to release the water from the dam slowly so people don't see the enormity of it....I say - let's show them the true totals!
Posted by: Deborah on April 9, 2005 07:32 PMNice logic.

Posted by: Chris on April 10, 2005 07:48 AMAnswer this question why is it when a Democratic or Liberal Repbulicans gets elected President Our military budget gets cut. It is the liberal socialists that are the evil ones in this country that are destroying us. Under Clinton we cut the military personnel by over 250K people. Yet non military Government jobs increased by 50K to 100K. Think of it, How many people do we have in IRAQ golly gee no wonder we have to call in the reserves they removed that many people from the military ranks over an 8 year period.
Liberal Democrats care not for America. Only their power. You can see them weaken the US by undermining it. The US is evil because we have a death penalty. In Saudi Arabia you get death if you are gay.
Our federal Supreme court is using international law to determine what their rulings say. I bet I can find a lot of international laws you would not like. In Cuba if you have Aids you are confined to a camp. Sure you can visit family but if you have sex outside of the camp you could face a death sentence. Should we follow Cuba's Example of care for those with aids? Maybe the liberal Supreme Court will make that the law of the land next. You get what you ask for. Eventually when you attack the rights of voters. You hurt the foundation that this country is built on. When unelected official make laws and regulations who holds them accountable.
Look at Germany in the late 20's and 30's prior to WWII. You can see a lot of similar things happening today within the US. Using mottos it is for the Kids, You are killing Grandma any excuse not to look and fix issues. Let it be fixed later. It always means it will cost many times more than the cost if we fix it now. Delay increases the costs.
ALso think of this when you build any project like a road construction job like fix a bridge 1/3 of the cost is spent fighting getting the job done by filling out paperwork, Answering questionst of dozens of different organizations. Doing enviromental studies. Maybe the bridge will collapse while all these requirements are being filled out. This happens whenever government gets involved in the daily lives of people.
One other factor has a Government Social program ever succeded in what is suppose to do. Look at education, THey say they just need more money. Every Social program out there once set up will never complete its job because they are protecting their government jobs.
Think well what you want government to do for you for everything it does for you it takes away a little more freedom. This country was founded on Personal rights and Responsibilities. THe liberals have removed the responsibility from the equation. If I spill coffee on my lap at your home can I sue you for a million dollars. No but they did sue McDonalds. Eventually it may get down to the individual level.
Man, if I ever spoke like that to ANYBODY, I wouldn't survive the whippin' my grandmother gave me, much less that of my parents. (I was trained properly at home.)

headless lucy said "Whenever you run across a conservative blog leave a negative message.

Pride goeth before a fall and some swift kicks in the ass don't hurt either." http://www.windycitylefty.com/2004/11/end-red-state-welfare.html
Headless and her ilk are the same cowardly morons that key cars and slash tires with Bush stickers and expensive SUV's to demonstrate their "superiority." She apparently thinks that making a laughing stock of herself at Sound Politics by displaying her utter witless degeneracy is giving conservatives "a swift kick in the ass" that will "break our resolve." Very amusing indeed.
I don't know about you deadwood, but my resolve gets pretty shaky every time lucy pipes-up with her lazer beam certitude and rapier-like wit.
HOWEVER, what is not amusing, and is a very real concern, is that the erratic, irrational, and abusive instability she demonstrates here is the same demeanor she doubtless displays to school children. Headless lucy has openly wished ill on our children because she disagrees with our opinions. She acts as though her incantation should somehow be distributed only amongst children of parents with partisan political leanings she finds unacceptable. We must either agree with headless lucy’s tolerant liberal views or she hopes our children will be doomed to seven generations of misery in sweatshops.
Headless Lucy is a true bigot of the first order and the classic model of a child abuser, and I can only hope the school district catches on to her before she does too much harm. Headless lucy belongs in a rubber room somewhere medicated and far away from children.
In the mean time, the more she busies herself amusing us by leaving negative messages here, the less harm she may be doing to some helpless conservative's child.
