Pose a question to Dean Logan
King County Councilmember Steve Hammond informs me that Dean Logan will be appearing before the King County Council next Monday, to answer questions from the Council about the 2004 Election.
Councilmember Hammond would appreciate receiving suggestions for questions from Sound Politics readers. Like many of us, he is very concerned about the failure of King Co. Records and Elections to adequately explain the 1,800 + discrepancy between ballots cast and voters credited.
Questions can be mailed to: steve.hammond@metrokc.gov

1. Are there public comments, where citizens can pose their questions, make their comments directly? If so, what are the rules, (signing up, 3 minute limit, etc) and time of the meeting and comment period? Hopefully the KC Council does have regular meetings with public comment, and concerned citizens take advantage of that opportunity to raise issues of importance to citizens.
2. My biggest question is; "What precincts were responsible for the 1800 extra ballots"? "Were the bulk of them from one or spread out evenly across all of them"?
The second question is; "Why hasn't Dean Logan provided this material to the KCC"?
3. How many ballots are missing from specific precincts?
Which precincts have extra ballots?
4. How do you determine whether the voter was a U.S. citizen? Is there any safeguard in place to prevent a non-citizen from voting in this state? I have noticed no numbers regarding alien votes.
5. Here is what I sent to Steve Hammond:
1) KC Elections has reported that the net discrepancy is ~1800 more ballots than voters, but what is the gross discrepancy? Or, what are the separate counts of voterless ballots and ballotless voters? (I read a report on Sound Politics that the numbers may be on the order of 5600 voterless ballots and 3800 ballotless voters).
2) KC Elections has reported that duplicate absentee ballots were sent to ~3500 addresses, with some of the addresses being sent as many as three or four.
a) What is the total number of duplicate absentee ballots sent out?
b) How many of these were recovered?
c) How many remain unaccounted for?
d) Is there any assurance that the unaccounted-for ballots weren't voted?
6. Is there any possibillity that the voterless ballots are from the paper- trailless touch screen voting machines? How could we get ahold of the software that runs these machines? Maybe all these voterless ballots went to Rossi, in which case his loss of the governor's race would be by a larger margin than anyone previously thought.
But that is all by the wayside, because all either side really wants is accuracy!
7. "Headless Lucy", thanks for your customarily relevant comments.
King County has no touch screen voting machines.
8. That only deepens the mystery...
9. I want to ask Dean Logan "Why aren't you resigned?"
10. It is not difficult to see that the sun doesn't set in the north. Or that cows give milk. Or that kissing poisonous snakes can be dangerous. So why is it Headless Lucy, that you can not see the facts, hear the truth, speak on the topic in front of you? Headless... why?
11. Logan's "political double-speak" usually works well when dealing with "technical" processes like vote-counting. His only problem in sucessfully "spinning" away this reconcilation discrepancy is some A$$hole named Sharkansky!!!
Seems like the Logan's of the world who are recognized as "experts in their field" actually believe they know EVERYTHING about their issue. So when questioning and pressure starts, they smugly and arrogantly think they can "expert" their way out of it. After, Dean is the expert (according to the flock of County Auditors who were ready, willing and able to attest to what Logan did in KingCo without ever looking at a single thing to validate what Logan actually did!)
The problem for these "Career Bureaucrats/self-proclaimed experts....is when someone like Sharkansky comes along with statistical analysis skills and technical expertise AND Shark tracks everything our public servant Logan has said.
How do you all think Logan will hold up in a deposition?? It seems like he is incredibly nervous even in an "orchestrated" effort like his self-audit. Logan seems to trip up something he said previously every time he opens his mouth.
And no offense Stefan but you certainly aren't Perry Mason!!
I can't wait for the depositions!!!
12. Oh! Poor, Son of Liberty! Why dost' thou lament, weep, and gnash thy teeth?
You're all so quick to point out my mistakes but you get small and go into denial when I point out yours. I knew that not checking that statement could come back and bite me, but who amongst us is willing to cast the first stone?
13. Hmmm....
I have some questions....but I'm not going to post them here so he can have time to work up a spin answer...
I'll email them to Hammond..
14. I would like to know why King County has NOT fixed the felons voting problem yet. Pierce County took pretty swift action on their 30 felons who voted. Maybe they did and I missed reading about it.
15. Dean Logan needs to step down. His part in this election is shameful. There are too many errors, (or fraud) to make this election valid. It should never have been certified by Sam Reed, he needs to go too. I am glad it is still being pursued in court because if we do not expose it, wrong behavior will continue and we will be guilty of enabling that by doing nothing. They (those who caused deception) are happy and will smooth talk their way around their behavior now that their agenda has been met.
