Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney suggests that it's "Time For Gregoire to Apologize For Her False Talk Radio Slam". He looks at Arbitron ratings for the Yakima area, where the only identified death threat came from, and concludes that there aren't any talk radio programs with a measurable audience in that part of the state that would have even been discussing the governor's election controversy.
Isn't it time to challenge Gregoire to either back up her statement with evidence, or repudiate it?Yes, it is. As a matter of fact, I contacted the Governor's Office this afternoon, spoke with one of Mrs. Gregoire's spokeswomen and then posed the following questions by e-mail:
Could you clarify Mrs. Gregoire's statement regarding talk radio and send me her exact words from the transcript? Can you also find out what specific talk radio program she had in mind when she made this statement and what specific comments she was referring to? Is there any indication that the one person confirmed by the WSP as making a death threat had been inspired by a talk radio program? Are there any other specific indications of emerging threats to Mrs. Gregoire's safety from talk radio listeners? The answers will surely be enlightening. Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at February 08, 2005 09:57 PM | Email ThisFinally, why was an announcement regarding death threats made on February 3 when, according to reports, the only confirmed threat was made more than two weeks earlier, on January 19?
Isn't it a wash?

It's not a wash, its far from it. They both recieve WSP protection because they both need it, however Rossi has not been using his WSP protection as ploy to divert attention from other issues, nor has he raised personal security issues in an attempt to deny access to his scheudle.
When Dino comes out and blames AM1090, Seattle's "Progressive" talk for his need for personal protection, then you can call it a wash.
Posted by: Jason on February 9, 2005 12:30 AMErik, why don't you post on the subject... Can you find no way of spinning this one and coming up with a supportive post for Gregoire's comments about talk radio?
I'm sure if Rossi had received a death threat and he blamed PI editorial pages for whipping people up you could surely come up with something to say on the subject!
Keep posting Erik your flawed logic and diversion attempts are highly entertaining!
That was an irresponsible statement for Miss Queenie to make and surely asking her to apologize is not too much for us to request.
Anyone notice the appointments she made in the past few days?
Posted by: DeadManVoting (aka Iguana) on February 9, 2005 01:57 AMThis is a classic example of obfuscation. One reason I do not read most posts written by certain people is that liberals to not want to pursue the truth if it puts them in a bad light.
CG's main problem is that she keeps putting her foot in her mouth, then twists her foot sideways, and inserts her other foot in her mouth. I didn't know that she could still continue to talk with both feet in her mouth, but evidently she can. She needs a new Public Relations person as bad as Washington State needs a legitimate Governor.
Maybe a book will be forthcoming with all her Gregiore-isms. It will be classified as a tragedy-comedy.
Posted by: JG on February 9, 2005 07:33 AMI too emailed the Governor's office with a similar request for a transcript, although I suspect there was none recorded. I also have tried to contact David Ammons the AP reporter who wrote the article we're all reading, hoping for a similar clarification.
We'll see what comes of it.
