Republican Radio

I'll be on Republican Radio tommorow morning at 11:45 am to discuss the day's happenings in Wenatchee, and possibly some other issues of interest. You can listen on 1300 KOL in Seattle, and many other stations in the Northwest. I'd love it if you'd tune in--and you can get a preview of my thoughts on the rulings here. Matt Rosenberg's, also worth reading, are here.

1. Very insightful, and yet not abrasive to either side of the issue.

2. from personal experience, you often can tell when a judge has pretty much judged the situation, when a "rebuttable assumption" exists in his head, and when he is driving the situation to a conclusion. Sometimes, from the standpoint of making sure you get the "exquitable outcome" it is necessary to dilute the result, but if you assume that he's seen enough from the to sides to have a clear feel for the case (like he seemed to durning te trial today), the judge will set the result up to be ironclad.

I (will eat thee words, but) suspect the ultimate outcome will be

- The annulment of the election
- the removal of ms gregiore
- a new election in Nov 2005 under the auspices of Lt Gov Owen.

and not the slightest chance of a reversal by the State Supreme Court without the clear betrayal of a partisan bent.

I don't see how that can be bad.

4. Bruce, if we get Brad Owen for awhile instead of x-tine, and a special election in Nov., I will be satisfied. I wonder how the Ds will make x-tine look more palatable this time? Some may think having been in there for at least a short time would help her. I'm not so sure, seeing what she's up to and talking about promoting the gay agenda, and saying things like 'I didn't say no taxes...' etc.

Interesting that she won't say what her position on gay marriage is. She claimed she wasn't for it in the campaign. Now she is mum. I'd say she IS for it because she wants those votes that went to Ruth Bennett the libertarian next time around. The Ds know that alot of their 'LBGT' vote went to Ruth Bennett instead. But if she actually SAYS she's for gay marriage she'll lose points in other ways.

5. Come to think of it, I see a lot of John Kerry in x-tine. She can't really take a position and stick to it, in some of the more controversial stuff like taxes and gay marriage. Not a good sign for her.

And like Kerry, when she was falling behind, she simply aped what Dino was saying, just like Kerry did in the primary. He was going nowhere until he started talking like Howard Dean.

2006 is the next available general election when the legislature meets.

If the GOP does prevail somehow and Gregoire is removed in June of 2005, I see Brad Owen wanting to stay office if he is in the mansion for a year and a half. Thats a long time to be in office and just decide to leave.

In the next two years, one may find another republican running for governor as well as Rossi, we will see.

However, with the court ruling that Rossi needs to show that he would have won had the questionable ballots not been cast, the bar has been raised very far up indeed. Rossi had always hoped that he could prevail by just showing the number of illegal votes was greater than the margin of victory.

Who knows. Maybe the supremes will overturn the decision. I think they are going to have to rule at least once to set the rules of the contest so everyone does not waste their time.

7. It takes a certain amount of b@lls to make predictions, and I want to give credit for that.

When weighing credibility, I'll go by past results...remembering that the trolls/naysayers haven't even reached the Mendoza line, average-wise.

8. It's my hope that at some point, a discussion is had about the Enron driven financial relief going on in Snohomish County.

As I understand it, there is 3 Million coming back to Snohomish County as a part of a settlement with power companies. That money will be divided between businesses, and low income folks with no monies returned to the residential ratepayer.

From the article I read in the Herald, apparently the AG (Christine Gregoire was that person, I believe) appointed a non-profit agency to determine the split and beneficiaries of that money. The agency determined that business was to be allotted a return, on the basis of volume. The rest was to go to low income.

Snohomish PUD says that their hands are tied. They have been told by the agency appointed by Gregoire to do it this way and have no choice.

Christine Gregoire hasn't been heard from as to why she thinks that the average homeowner/residential customer should have any relief. Nor has she explained why she would divert control of monies collected through governmental action to a private agency.

Notice to PUD. Unless I see an improvement in your behavior and customer relations, I am leaning towards disbanding you and going with a corporation that might be more responsive. You might well be advised, on the basis of truth in advertising, to change your name to Public Sector Utility District, Public Sector owned.

Am sure that SnoCoVoter might have a view or two on this as well.

11. Don't worry, Iguana--today was a "no death threat zone" on RR. I managed to restrain myself.

12. OK, but you might be THINKING it, Timothy. GreGore and her thought police might swoop in tonight while you are asleep.
