E-mail of the day

A reader whose e-mail address identifies him as Adam Woltag (awoltag .at. hotmail .dot. com) writes:

Hey Stefan,
Justr saw your piece on FOX News about the state's election.....how the heck did you get to be an expert electoral politics? It's a sad, but not surprising, reality that FOX News relies on minor contributing "experts" like yourself to comment on national political news.....so transparent are they! "we report - you decide" - give me a break. You're just another sorry conservative loser - that's the truth.
Sincerely,
Grant
How the heck did I get to be an expert on electoral politics? That's a very good question, Grant/Adam, and one that I've also been asking myself. I think the short answer is that all of Washington State's MSM journalists who have done more comprehensive investigative reporting on this election than I have were unavailable to appear on today's program.

Thank you for your e-mail, Grant/Adam, and please write again soon.

4. Stefan, I saw you on Fox news tonight too. It's obvious to any alert news follower why you were invited. You're recognized as the most educated analyst on this problem by the Wall Street Journal, by even the P.I. Jamieson, by the other bloggers who are big names in themselves (Powerline, Malkin, etc.). Keep up the good work, my only two bits to add, is that when you were interviewed by the P.I. Jamieson, you said you wanted the will of the majority to be heard, that won't be heard even by a full revote, it would still be only a plurality--for a guaranteed majority winner, you need the revote to be a runoff election only (only top two vote getters) or the first election to be IRV (Instant Runoff Voting) to guarantee a majority, traditional voting sometimes gives a majority but it does not guarantee a majority depending upon how much vote the third party candidates muster. Do a google on "IRV Voting" (use quotes around these two words) to see tons of links on IRV. Had IRV been in place to begin with, Cantwell for sure would have lost in her election and Rossi should have won (unless this time unlike the others, the libertarian stoled more from the Dems than the GOP, which I think is unlikely). -- a former Spokane resident, now stuck in the MidWest.

8. Mr. Shark,
I put my kids down, going to bed myself.
Just want to say that any info I plan to get on this election will probably come from you tomorrow.
Just for fun, I'll check the facts with my remaining issue of the Times tomorrow. Man this rag (the Times) is as dead as a Bothell Possem.
Later,
Brad

10. I'm getting a bit tired of whiny nitwits like Grant or Adam or whoever he is.

After all, he and his fellow lefty storm troopers did everything they could to steal elections in not just Washington state, but just about every state where such leftist perfidy is tolerated.

But even such massive and obvious fraud was not enough to achieve his first goal, the ouster of President George W. Bush.

On Inauguration day, let's all take a few moments to remember Adam/Grant, Michael Moore, Barbara Streisand and all the other lefty losers...

12. I saw your interview on Fox News and it was pretty clear to me that the reason you were picked is that you have done far more investigative reporting on the electoral scandal than has anyone else.

It used to be that TV and newspaper reporters did this sort of thing...now it is left to the bloggers. Yet one more sign of the long, slow death of the MSM.

Good work, Stefan!

13. Stefan,

I saw your interview. You did GREAT!

Boy, the "dims" are getting mighty p*ssed and worried that you and this issue are getting national coverage now... Governor Rossi on Hannity and Colmes, you on Brit Hume... shines a really bright light on their political games and wrongdoing.

Just take a look at their (extremely)increased activity here. They want to disrupt and discredit any attempt at revealing the truth to the public... can't imagine why!

The people of Washington have had enough of their thievery and self-serving political manipulations.

Keep up the good work. You're making us all proud .

God Bless!

14. "Yes, it's okay to be a normal person and know some things!"

Whaaaat??

You mean .....without oodles of credentials?? (is oodles a word?) :)

Yes...It must be driving the *elitist left* nuts - that WE THE PEOPLE are exposing their mess....and on national TV at that!

Snicker.....

15. Great Job Stefan! Grant I am glad you were watching Fox News Network, let me also tell you if you watch it for more than 10 minutes, you would probably even get a clue! Nothing like this Election getting National Attention! It is good because the mistakes in King County should be known Nation Wide. They will be as the courts decide the democrats in this state stole the election, and it needs to be corrected.

Posted by: gs on January 17, 2005 11:51 PM
16. Didn't you note earlier that this was your first National TV appearance? I think you came across as very knowledgable but not slick like so many pundits come across. My wife also liked it.

I think the term "voters" picks up the common meaning as all registered voters, not the subset "voters for this election". There must be an adj. that clears that.

Is't the unbalanced precinct counts (the 8,000) and the tens of thousands of enhanced ballots both the big points. I've learned here that the law is very specific and strong on dead voters, felons, and double votes. But I think in the PR arena the enhanced ballots and botched certifications rings best with the public.

Keep it up.

17. Just more unhinged democrat yapping....

...and Stefan got picked because the MSM guys weren't interested enough in the gov race to do the kind of research Stefan has done.

Posted by: Michele S on January 18, 2005 12:51 AM
18. and speaking of that race, here's x-tine's new campaign slogan for the revote:

Gregoire: The Gray Davis of Washington state. Special interests ARE her interest!

19. Stefan, I saw you on Brit's show. Great job. I miss your work on your other blog, but what you're doing now is much more important.

Thanks again for your, and everyone's, work on this issue.

20. What a riot! You got to be an expert by jumping ahead of all the so-called "experts" and finding out so many facts... and telling the rest of us... that it has been fun watching them squirm and backtrack to try to keep up with you. :) It was great hearing you on Fox News yesterday, Mr. International Celebrity. Keep it up, and thanks so much!!

21. I don't have a TV, so I didn't get to see Stefan. But Adam/Grant's snotty little jibe was all I needed to see to know that Stefan must have done a marvelous job.

That is how Dems/Liberal elitists/MSM see us. To them, we are just a bunch of unrefined thugs who managed to crash their debutante ball.

What they are finding out is that we are in fact the most powerful people in America: informed voters.

Could it also be that we (not just us here, but people like us all over the country) are becoming the most influential as well?

Posted by: ERNurse on January 18, 2005 06:51 AM
22. Grant or Adam,
I was curious who in this election mess do you think is better qualified to talk about the issue, or who do you think is an expert?

Dean Logan???
Paul Berendt???
A Seattle Times or PI journalist???

In my time with elections and watching this debacle there aren't too many people that have a better grasp on the situation then Stefan. He breaks down the numbers better then the journalists, and is not affraid of the truth like appointed and elected officials.

I thought you did a great job on Fox last night as well; too bad Brett had to interrupt you so many times.

Keep up the good work!

24. Stefan-
As long as you have facts on your side and ask honest questions, there is nothing anyone can say to hurt your credibility. If the questions could be answered as honestly as they are asked, we wouldn't be here, would we? Keep it up, and please write the whole story for us when all is said and done. It must be crazy...Mike

25. Stefan,
Congratulations on your interview with Brit Hume. If anyone in the state of WA deserves to discuss the election mess, you most certainly do. You did a great job. I caught Brit saying he looked forward to having you on again. My feeling is that he really respects your efforts, the information you have brought to light, and your dedication. Thanks from many of us who read your work daily.

Posted by: Mbabbitt on January 18, 2005 07:41 AM
26. Stefan,
You were terrific on Fox TV and I trust Britt will invite you back, just as he said at the end of your interview. Britt seemed a bit lost for some reason -- like his mind was preoccupied with other matters. You were calm, forthright, offered clear and pertinent answers (to the sometimes repetitious and cloudy questions), and got all of the important points put forward. It was tremendous national exposure for the apparent election FRAUD and mistakes made in King Sims County.
Well done and we are very proud of you, Stefan. Keep up the good work and the TRUTH will come out -- especially during the Chelan County court proceedings this Thursday and following.

27. Scanning through the good leftist "letters to the editor" of the times and the olympian, most seem to believe that the convict votes were spread 50/50 and this is just another attempt to suppress votes.

I seem to recall someone here citing that 68% of florida convicts that voted were registered democrats. When the dust settles I would VERY much like to see what the data says about the voting habits of Washington felons.

Posted by: Andy on January 18, 2005 07:45 AM
28. How did you get to be the expert?

It seems to me that you stepped up when the establishment (Attorney General, local district attorneys) & mainstream (press, TV) did not do their jobs.

The RatherGate problem run throughout the press. They rabidly go after stories only when they would advance thei agenda. Honest elections that would not put liberals into power do not advance the MSM agenda.

29. You did a great job on FOX. Thank you for all your hard work and reporting. Keep up the good work. I know how hard it is.

30. Stefan,
I missed the FOX interview, but I'm sure you did awesome. Last night Clark County Auditor Gregg Kimsey held an election forum to discuss future elections, earlier he was on a local radio station plugging it saying it was not going to be a forum for REVOTE...anyway a Columbian Newspaper article today covering the forum writes "Mabe all the talk about a revote isn't resonating with local voters." Seems JEFFREY MIZE (Columbian staff writer) is suffering from "liberal amnesia" as there were over 100 demontrators last Tues. calling for a REVOTE in front of elections office in Vancouver, which is less than 5 blocks away from their newspaper office. The truth is not being heard in Clark County we have one newspaper with an obvious agenda, they have yet to print one of my letters to the editor.
Thank you for your voice, keep it up!!

31. Let me answer the question, since you have too much humility. You are the expert they reached out and selected to interview because the usual suspects, the ones who historically would've been the ones called upon to provide commentary, are the same ones who utterly failed, and continue to fail, to do their jobs in fleshing out this story, creating the void that you ably stepped into.

Posted by: jay bird on January 18, 2005 08:39 AM
32. Great job Stef. Only one question, you actually said there were "...hundreds of criminals w/o rights who voted". I only knew of 89 at last count, has that count gone up? Does is actually exceed the 129 votes Pretend Fraudwuare(sp) won by? If so then the case for a revote/re-election has been proven ipso facto! Let us know.

33. I find Grant/Adams comment "You're just another sorry conservative loser - that's the truth" rather amusing. The "sorry liberal losers' still haven't got over 2000, despite not a single recount has ever changed the result, even with all the military voters disenfranchised.

34. "I don't belong to an organized political party. I'm a Democrat." - Will Rogers

Seems to me that Mr. Sharkansky is at least as much of an expert as most of the pundits put forward by both sides.

He actually seems to have at least spoken to someone a bit further left than Rush Limbaugh before developing his opinion. Doesn't mean that I'll agree with him, but he is at least informed.

(Side note - we Democrats love Rush. If you didn't have him, we'd have to invent him for you. The man is such an easy target.)

Now, could he find an outlet that isn't just "preaching to the choir?" Fox News' motto of "Fair and Balanced" reminds me of a little club down in San Diego, that played "both kinds of music. Country and Western."

38. Thanks for giving Seattle alittle credibility in the national press, Stefan.....friends and family throughout the country can't understand why the msm can't do there own investigation on the most mixed up guv'nors race in history. KEEP IT UP !

39. Andy, It was John Fund whom I referenced. He said 79% of the felons who voted in Florida 2000 were registered Democrats. No surprise there. The WA Dems who try to downplay the felon vote as not being one party or the other are just 'snowing' everyone. Felons do trend heavily Democrat; don't let anyone tell you otherwise. That's why leftist groups are always crying that felons can't vote; they know they're missing out on dem votes because of it.

Posted by: Michele S on January 18, 2005 11:49 AM
40. Dear Stephan....this has been enlightening.

It seems as though one is an expert on Fox News if all the other real experts are busy and unreachable for comment. Congratulations. This is a real accomplishment….I look forward to seeing more of on national TV.

This maybe good for you and your "normal people" fellow bloggers, but I hoping that there may be a few that frequent this diverse and open minded group that might pose another perspective.....I guess we "elitists" here must have it all wrong. I do enjoying seeing how much everyone on this site loves to talk to themselves…..must be very reassuring….go ahead, pat yourself on the back.

Oh, and I'll make it a point to stress to my fellow “elitists” here that we should stop our nasty ways and make a point to strive for the average at our next opportunity…how does mediocrity sound - good to you? Perhaps a one sided argument? I bet that sounds good - no opposing points of view…….nice.....ok then, bring out the choir - it's time to preach

Sincerely and enjoy,

AGW
