2. Heh!

I would love to have a revote for the 2000 elections as well!

The more I become involved with this - sorting through the pile of productive google finds, blog arguments, documents, media stories, case law, witness statements, 2 decades of election history in our State...etc....the more I have to shake my head....

It breaks my heart. It angers me!

There is reasonable doubt in my mind..that our Washington State elections have been honest or fair for many years!

3. It makes me wonder: just how deeply entrenched is the Democratic political beast? Can we trust Washington state elections at all?

But even if we found wrongdoing, can we do anything about it now? Recall Cantwell and re-install Gorton?

What I would like to see happen is Sims, Logan, Murray, Cantwell, Gregoire, Reed, and McDermott tarred, feathered, and run out of town. Or at least their politicals careers destroyed once and for all.

What can I do to help?

4. Deborah--
I hope you realize that a good portion of our anger has to be directed at ourselves!
WE allowed this to happen by being lazy and naive.
WE presumed elections were fair & honest.
WE were too lazy to organize an effort to verify whether our assumption was true or false.
Rather than get off our butts and start looking at Voter Registration and how the entire ballot counting process was working, WE TRUSTED THE GOVERNMENT>
WE WERE FOOLS...THE JOKE WAS ON US AND THE JOKE WAS US.

NO MORE!! In order to clean up these Voter Registrations in King County, we will need thousands of determined volunteers ready, willing and able to make phone calls and investigate questionable registrations.

Are you up for it??
Typically the R's can get riled up, but when it comes time to volunteer the time & money to fix a major problem, the R's have "short arms" and "something else more important to do."

Cleaning up this mess is not solely a job for the white-hairs, although bless them for their determination. We need a strong presence of determined young blood.

The next Chair of the State Republican Party MUST be able to rally the troops and make this "CLEAN-UP the #1 PRIORITY!!
AGREED?????

5. I have to agree with Mr. Cynical on that - and the heat must continue to turned up. In reality, maybe have of the list of Sims, Cantwell, Gregoire, etc. will suffer some political fallout, but not unless the R's show more definitive action and hold feet of those in power to the fire.

Patience is also important, because it will not happen overnight. Also, maybe there will more decent people like Sonntag and Sheldon who show up as D's and enable there to be a more honest debate. Maybe this sounds somewhat like pie in the sky, but I am more optimistic than I was a month ago with respect to local issues. Lessons were learned - put those behind us and realize that a leopard doesn't change it's spots and keep it up !

6. Oops, I meant to write..."half of the list of Sims, Cantwell, Gregoire, etc."

7. Love it! Ever since all this other stuff has come out, I now firmly believe that Slade won that race. Republicans should NOT have to overcome 5,000 counts of Democrat vote fraud to win elections! Every race within 5-10k should be scrutinized from now on to make sure the winner is the REAL winner. and probably will be.

Cantwell, SO not legitimate. (and I'll bet she doesn't visit every county anymore--someone ought to ask if she's still doing that..)

8. Mr Cynical,

I have to agree with you! We have only ourselves to blame!

We should have raised our collective voice years ago when we started scratching our heads at the election upsets! Especially those upsets that mysteriously came with weeks of absentee ballot counts!

It's as though a veil has been ripped off of our eyes!

It's going to be impossible to put it back on.....

9. Reading this story of 2000 only reinforced the fact that...

I'M NOT LETTING THIS GO AND I HOPE DINO GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE US SUPREME COURT IF NECESSARY!

To all those who say that he should hang it up and run against Cantwell in 2006 - GET BENT!

Look at what happened in 2000 - and look at what has changed. NOTHING!

The Democrats can run, but they can't hide! Well, actually, they DO like to run and hide - but we'll find them!

10. Love it! Ever since all this other stuff has come out, I now firmly believe that Slade won that race.

Darn right. And Carlson and Craswell were robbed of their victory as well.

(this must be a slow blog day)

11. Have to agree with Mr. Cynical.
We are sometimes long on talk, yet short on action.
I'm sure it has a lot to do with our kids,sports,schools,jobs...Most of which our opponents are not burdened with.(Does Mr.Sideburns have 3 CYO basketball games this Saturday?)
But..most of us are people who count, that is,we make a difference at schools, sports, and church.
We can beat these people if we organize. Most of us are good at this and we do it every day.
It's hard to imagine the machine beating us if we use all our talents.
Let's take our state back!

12. I'm glad to see so many folks understanding how we got ourselves in this mess. IT'S OUR OWN DARN FAULT!!!
It is very time-consuming to get involved in politics and help organize a productive campaign. Remember, many fingers do make for light work.
BIAW has carried a massive load...the load is getting mighty heavy. Those of you who really want to help, please start by calling your County GOP Chair and let them know.
Validate Voter Registration---a must!

13. I USUALLY don't engage in troll-feeding, but I must point out to Erik the Leftist that there was a huge chunk more distance vote-wise between Craswell, Carlson & their opponent. Erik the silly Leftist must've been absent during those years or he would've known not to make his silly ignorant-looking comment. Only Democrats complain about 100,000+-vote differences and NOT the 129-difference ones.

14. Only Democrats complain about 100,000+-vote differences and NOT the 129-difference ones.

Michele, the poster I referred to and quoted did not reference the current election with the 129 vote difference you cite, but the Gorton Cantwell Senatorial election in 2000.

In this election, Cantwell won by 2229 votes.

15. Mr. Cynical,

Like you, I agree not only with your post, but also that leadership starts at the top. Vance is on his current bandwagon because its politically expedient for him...had this election not ended as it has you would not have heard a peep out of him until the next cycle. My conversations w/ Senator Gorton, where I expressed my outrage at the lack of support given to L. Smith by the Repub. Party, also led to some other conclusions. There are to distinct groups with the Republican Party. Vance has been installed by those national powers that be, largely because he does not rock the boat. This might explain why our base is not motivated in the off years and keep the info flowing to create an informed grass-roots electorate that votes consistently.
We need to clean our own house and find a leader that has a more focused vision for the electorate in this State. (or maybe convince Vance to get off his duff!)
