I'll be on Fox News' Special Report with Brit Hume this evening at 6pm EST / 3 pm PST, speaking about the voting irregularities.
My first ever interview on a national TV news program!
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at January 17, 2005 11:56 AM | Email ThisI'll be listening over my (redacted) satellite radio as I am working my way through the snow and ice of the pass.
This is indeed a great day for you, and for Washington!
Posted by: Steve on January 17, 2005 11:59 AMOn Wednesday after Keith Olbermann said this:
OLBERMANN: A regional note before we get back to the national events.
Despite still standing legal challenges from her opponent, Democrat Christine Gregoire was today sworn in as the new governor of the state of Washington. She won a second recount, the third count of that election, by just 129 votes after Republican Dino Rossi had won on election night, it seemed, by 261 votes out of nearly three million.
Washington‘s Republican secretary of state certified Gregoire‘s election, saying the vote count featured many mistakes, but he had found no evidence of fraud. “The Wall Street Journal” nonetheless entitled an editorial on the inauguration today—quote—“Stolen Election?”
And in it, they use the word fraud three different times. Sounds a little tin foil hat to me, as opposed to the governor‘s remarks, which sounded a little: I can‘t wait to get off this topic.

I wrote back with this:
Put on your tin foil cap Keith....
...because the Washington election was filled with
fraud. Double votes, dead people voting, King County
(Gregoire's main place of support) with 1,800 more
votes than voters....
You should have Stefan Sharkansky of Sound Politics on
your show.

election:

Maybe your interview with Brit won't be the first. But I doubt Consiracy Keith cares about the truth. He was one of the clowns that started that silly Florida panhandle rumor that anyone with google could have easily shot down with minimal research.
By the way, I found RCW 29A.60.140 interesting. Especially this part:
(5) Meetings of the county canvassing board are public meetings under chapter 42.30 RCW. All rules adopted by the county canvassing board must be adopted in a public meeting under chapter 42.30 RCW, and once adopted must be available to the public to review and copy under chapter 42.17 RCW.
In RCW 42.30.020, the Legislative Declaration to the state's open meetings law includes the following:
The people of this state do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created.Posted by: Boonie on January 17, 2005 12:14 PM
I will be watching!
Brit Hume covering this - gives national attention and serious credibility to our efforts!

Posted by: RookieRick on January 17, 2005 01:57 PMAnd while the Washington State gubernatorial election has been held, counted and recounted, and certified, the battle isn’t over yet. Despite Democrat Christine Gregoire’s inauguration as the rightful officeholder, a court hearing about the contested results is scheduled for later this week. To find out why Brit talks with Stefan Sharkansky, editor of the Seattle-based Web log Sound Politics , which was first to point out that King County produced more than 3,000 more votes than it had registered voters.http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,112935,00.html Posted by: Bleeding heart conservative on January 17, 2005 03:16 PM
You stayed calm and hit all of your points. I would've never guessed that was your first appearance on national tv.
Posted by: Erik on January 17, 2005 03:28 PMKeep up the good work, keep the heat on KC officials.
Kentucky is behind you!!!
Posted by: Jeff H on January 17, 2005 03:28 PMWell done.
Great Job Stefan!
Posted by: Jason on January 17, 2005 03:29 PMI hope the national attention on this keeps gaining momentum.
Posted by: ecurbh on January 17, 2005 03:31 PMI just realized, while watching Stefan's spot on Fox News....how truly absurd and riddled with irregularities our Washington State elections were! To cover just the initial findings - took up the entire spot!
Stefan could hardly get beyond scratching the surface of what's been going on in our elections! The findings are just too numerous! Just too incredible!
I am embarrassed for our state! It's like revealing to the nation that we have a criminal in our family!
I think Stefan was successful in getting heads to shake in disbelief ....all around this country!

Posted by: Ken Hupp on January 17, 2005 03:55 PMI would like to thank you for your efforts. I expect to be moving to Seattle toward the end of the year, and was feeling somewhat trepidatious about the move. But, thanks to you and your fellow posters here I am getting more reassured that I will not be moving to Berkeley North, and that, there is some accountability expected of the public 'servants.'
Thanks.
Posted by: alaric on January 17, 2005 03:58 PMI recorded the program and just finished reviewing it. Great job of working through Britt Hume's initial problems in grasping the margin of "victory" manufactured in King County and then establishing that the immediate goal being sought by contesting the election is to have it thrown out so that a new election can be held.
Posted by: RLG on January 17, 2005 04:57 PMDoes FOX provide transcripts, or can somebody give me a run-down?
Thank you for taking the point for us, Stefan. As my mom would say, "Ya done good."
Posted by: ERNurse on January 17, 2005 05:58 PMGreat job explaining the tangled webs in Kiev County.
They must be feeling the heat as they're losing control of this story.
Thanks for all your great work.
There is hope for the future, that this area will become an area with a positive economic climate and you'll help level the playing field so that extremism from the left in Seattle is diminished -thanks to your efforts ! (It may not happen for awhile, but hope springs eternal) You are on again at 9PM on Fox NEWS - the same time that "24" is on, but that is on for the whole hour.
