More spin and b.s.

Today's front page headline in the Seattle Times: "Gov.-elect says the voters never got to know her"

"I don't think in the end voters ever really got to know Chris Gregoire."

That's what Gregoire says about herself today as she readies to be sworn in Wednesday as the state's 22nd governor.

Oh, please. More self-deluded claptrap from the same woman who thinks this election was "a model to the rest of the nation and the world". I think the voters got to know Chris Gregoire just fine, which is why her "victory" can only be explained by dead voters, double voters, felon voters, illegally enhanced ballots, unverified provisional ballots, etc.

The astonishing thing to me about this front page Seattle Times story is that even though it acknowledges that "Gov.-elect Christine Gregoire will lack a mandate", it attributes this lack of mandate only to the size of her victory margin. The article is overwhelmingly sympathetic to Gregoire, offering advice how she might solidify her legitimacy in the face of a narrow margin. In its nearly 1,800 words, the article does not once mention the fact that the election is being contested. Nor does it mention that swirling controversy regarding large numbers of illegal votes, irregularities and enough other mistakes to enable a court to nullify the election.

The article could just as easily be written by a Gregoire campaign aide as by a political reporter from a newspaper that prides itself on being "neutral, fair, thorough and thoughtful".

1. It's no surprise that the Seattle Times would do an article sympathetic to Gregoire. After all, the entire staff voted for her.

2. Ms. Gregoire is mistaken, of course. The voters knew all too well about her and her tenure of incompetence in the AG office.

Democrats complain their message never gets out. It does -- but we the people don't like it. The party is too anti-American, anti-religion, and anti-capitalism in the views of many.

3. This part of the article is cute:

"I don't think in the end voters ever really got to know Chris Gregoire."

That's what Gregoire says about herself today as she readies to be sworn in Wednesday as the state's 22nd governor.

If she got to know herself better, maybe she wouldn't refer to herself by name. Wouldn't ordinary people say "the voters never really got to know me?"

Perhaps she's still in campaign mode, when name recognition is so important that candidates usually refer to themselves by name -- just in case someone listening to them doesn't recognize the face or voice.

If the voters didn't know her well enough after her long time in office as AG and after her campaign for governor, when would they get to know her well enough to decide whether to vote for her or her opponents?

Maybe it takes a large margin of victory for her or her opponent to persuade her that the voters know her well enough -- but I suspect that she wouldn't say so unless the big victory margin was in her favor.

4. The problem with Chris Gregoire is Chris Gregoire. The voters know her, they just do not like her. She has served 3 terms as AG (a statewide position) so how would people not know her? I am sure she is a good mother and has a great personal story but her policies are terrible and she did not say how she would differ from Gary Locke and the status quo. Did anyone see who she has named to her staff? It is the same people that worked for Gary Locke. Now, to me this is ample evidence as to why the democrats fough so hard in this recount, they were trying to save the jobs of these professional bureaucrats.
We need change so badly in this state and this is what the voters were saying, not we never knew Chris Gregoire. These so called professional journalists think we are so stupid, when is anyone going to start getting tough with these people and stop buying into democratic spin.

5. Just curious about her name change from Christine to Chris for this last election. Has anyone actually ever given a reason why ?

6. another verification of the radical leftist mantra that is guised as "objective Journalism".
why does anyone read the liberal obscentities and leftist screeds from this paper is behond my understanding. then again, one only needs a sixth grade public education to understand much of what come from the times or pi.

7. behond should be beyond. my mistake.

8. She became "Chris" as a way to broaden her appeal to the average voter, so they might overlook the fact that she is part of the rich aristocracy that governs the Democratic party. The same tactic was used by William Clinton and James Carter.

9. I think the purpose was to soften her image a little bit.

10. The purpose of the Times is to stay in business. Writing a 'puff piece' does two things for them:

#1. It allows access for that reporter to the Gov's Mansion.

#2. It sells itself to their base constituency, which is predominantly leftivist.

If it had been a real journalistic effort, CG would never have given the interview.

11. The Times is another daily dead-fish wrapper with that puff piece of shoddy journalism. We have come to know Christine Gregoirovich quite well since the governor's campaign was coming down the home stretch. Aristocratic and caving into special interest groups like the Trial Lawyers. Using Clintonesque tactics to obfuscate the real problems there were with the recount process and acting self-serving and arrogant about moving forward with the business of the state, calling those who want a revote ludicrous, when a majority of the people of this state do not believe she is legitimate winner and even more believe there needs to be a revote. Yep, I know who she is.

12. When I first saw the title to this "news article" I thought someone was writing Christine aka Chris Gregoire's political obituary. As in voters never got to know her, and now they never will.
Gone, and if only we could forget her.

I tried to read this public relations piece, but became slightly nauseous. Every time CG talks she seems to ooze arrogance and condescension, but now that I know she came from humble beginnings and is not anti-cat, I feel so much better about her hubris.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see CG as a politic centrist. When she goes on her tour to heal us she wants us to meet her in the middle for a group hug. The middle of what?

13. My post should read "political centrist." I mistyped.

"Politic" I just found out means prudent, wise,
sensible, discreet, judicious.

That does not describe CG, so I guess it works either way.

14. man, is SHE really packing on the makeup.....

15. "Never really got to know her?" Gee, who does THAT sound like? (hint, he's a flip-flopper)

Just as this country saw John Kerry for what he was, a pompous 'flavorless pudding' who betrayed his country, EVERYONE in WA knew who X-tine Gregoireovich is.

And when she ran for governor, we learned even more--for instance, that she was willing to lie and run an ad with someone pretending to be a republican who endorsed Gregoire; that she was president of a whites-only sorority and wasn't willing to change that policy (and in fact ENFORCED IT) until she was safely graduated and couldn't be kicked out for stirring up 'trouble'; that she tried to manipulate that report on what happened with that $18 million appeal botch;

It's just that when voters got to know her even better, they decided that THEY DON'T LIKE HER!

16. the seattle times???? people READ that?
come on...tongue in cheek aside, i don't think anyone actually reads that thing. they buy it out of pity and because it's the right thing[for lefties] to do, sort of like recycling.
and then...it is so handy under the catbox where it belongs.
i would have only been surprised by the story if they had actually reported the truth...the people came, the people saw, the people voted....FOR ROSSI.
WE KNOW WHO SHE IS........AND WHAT SHE IS.......

17. Did somebody say Cheatine?

18. The picture of gregoire on the times front page looks so much like hillary. did she take a picture of hillary over to glamour shots and say "make me look like this".
Rubyy red lips and big thick eyebrows. wierd.
reminds me of a betty davis movie sweet baby jane.

19. Haven't gotten to know her?

Well, we've gotten to know about her $20 million appeals foul up.

We've gotten to know how she REALLY feels about things like domestic violence, through her handling of the Linda David case.

We've gotten to know how she has failed our children through her continued defense of ALL of DSHS.

Must I go on??? What else do we need to know?

20. I read the article differently--I thought the article's beginning paragraphs which delineated Gregoire's twelve years as AG and $6 million campaign exposed the "voters didn't know me" excuse as pathetic.

21. Yeah, this article was a huge joke!

It must have been written by GreGore's PR department. What a bunch of schlek!

22. Does CG own a mirror? Is she aware that body language speaks volumes? Everytime I see her speak I feel as though she believes herself to be supierior and is talking down to us. She shows no warmth, no compassion, she is remarkably "empty" when it comes to people skills. Is she merely a demo puppet? She may be right that I don't know her, but from her behavior so far, I don't want to know her.
