Endorsements: Federal Races

These are my endorsements for federal offices on Tuesday's ballot. These endorsements reflect only my personal opinions and not necessarily those of other Sound Politics contributors.

President: George W. Bush
U.S. Senate: George Nethercutt

Of the state's nine Congressional districts, the following races feature strong Republican candidates. We enthusiastically endorse:

2nd District: Suzanne Sinclair to replace Rick Larsen.
4th District: Re-elect Doc Hastings.
5th District: Cathy McMorris to succeed George Nethercutt.
8th District: Sheriff Dave Reichert to succeed Jennifer Dunn.

The other districts all have entrenched incumbent Democrats and weak Republican challengers. If you live in one of these districts, vote for the Republican this time. More importantly, work within your community in the coming year to help recruit a viable Republican candidate for 2006.

1. Whatever happens here in Washington, there need to be some major recriminations within the Republican party. I'll say more on this after the election is over and we see how we do, but the lack of decent candidates in so many legislative races, both state and federal, is inexcusable, and will hurt Bush, Rossi and Nethercutt on Nov. 2.
