Some of the wost hype and sleaze about I-884 comes from the media people who are supposed to be explaining the measure to the public.
In today's Seattle Times, Danny Westneat writes:
Parents in my neighborhood lamented recently that the local elementary school had no choir or regular music program ... And what does it say that a school doesn't offer much music in the first place? The implication being that if we approve I-884, the neighborhood school PTA won't have to raise money from parents to hire a music teacher.
The only problem here is that I-884 isn't supposed to pay for music teachers.
